Where do I start about Claude's? Well it is an exceptionally friendly bar, even if you are "from't wrong side o't Pennine's" (Brian is a very proud Yorkshireman!) If you're a Manc, then you'll get some light hearted banter - yes Brian, if you read this its them three Mancunians!!!!! The quizes on different nights of the week are good fun - in fact in the words of Claude himself, "they're crap". Sheila, his wife is also very friendly and so is the lovely Jase from America who does the evening bar most of the week. The "motorway services" also does fab snacks, and a breakfast to die for after a night on the Amstel or whatever! Try the Gary Andrews Show on Saturday nights and possibly join in with Claude and his bottle crates. All in all, a great bar - went in every day during the fortnight for breakfast, early doors after the beach and some evenings. Definately worth a visit.
Thanks Brian, Shiela and staff for great hospitality.
P.S, don't forget to view all the nostalgia on the walls and behind the bar. Viva Castleford.
Thanks, Brian, Shiela and staff for a great time
Three of us have just had a fortnight in Dina's apartments and we found the studio very comfortable indeed. The studio was basically equipped, but all you need really is a bed, a bog and a shower - its quite cheap to eat out. The sheets and towels were changed 3 times and the Bathroom bin emptied (not a pleasant job!) Dina herself is indeed very pleasant, and will go out of her way to speak to you and pass the time of day - she lives in studio 5, so be good if you're in 6! There is some early morning noise from local cockerals, but nothing really to wreck your sleep - have some more Raki!!!!! All in all, when we return to Kalamaki and indeed we will, we will try to book in at Dina Studios.
Kalamaki beach is just fantastic - great for families, safe sand, shallow sea etc, but also for those who prefer the all-over tan. The end opposite Laganas is used by naturists. Come down to the beach from Kalamaki to the Crystal Beach Hotel, go onto the beach and turn left. The sunbeds and umbrellas soon peter out and not far after it is usually safe to strip off and catch some sun, however, most naturists tend to sunbathe under the cliffs at the very end. Myself and my two mates came back with cracking all-over tans. The fruit seller even comes down to the naturist section about three or four times a day so you won't starve! But take some water with you. The whole stretch of beach from Kalamaki to Laganas is devoid of water sports due to the area being a conservation area for the Loggerhead Turtle, but you can hire pedalos and sail round the bay. You may even see a turtle. This beach is definately one of the best on Zante and we will return soon.
