We just got back from Zakynthos yesterday and one of our favourite memories is Zakfari.
We were there on "Cafe roped off" day. Thank you Paul for the most amazing experience and you MUST keep Lee on your team forever (pay him extra if you have to!!)being on his jeep was so much fun.
Luckily I had read this website before going on holiday so didn't book an inferior, closed-in, jeep discovery trip that our travel rep offered. We stayed in Kalamaki and found the booking office for Zakfari at the end of the main road (near the taxi rank but opposite side) It didn't have a board advertising it outside just a poster on the window.
A fasinating trip - really enjoyed it.
Look around for the best deal. We were staying in Kalamaki and the cheapest we found was 29 euros compared to 40 with the travel rep.
Would have been better if you could attended the museum before the site as it has a model of how it once looked. It is difficult to imagine when looking around the ruins before hand, so can not fully appreciate.
We stayed there between 26/08 and 02/09. It is in the perfect location being half way between main street and beach.
Nice big room for the three of us with a good sized balcony. very basic bathroom and kitchen area. Kept very clean - floor moped and bins changed every day. Towels and bedding were also changed during stay.
The pool is the right size for amount of guests with enough sunbeds to go around. It is set in a pretty garden and there is a lovely, friendly lad behind the pool bar called Zisi who can speak fluent English (with slang!)
Would not recommend.
The waiter was unfriendly and gave the menus begrudingly while mumbling! I had the grilled samon and it was cold and uncooked inside, but my husband and daughter's food was o.k.
The only saving grace was the view.
We loved this resturant.
The portions of food were really big and tasted gorgeous. The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. Real value for money.
The setting is very pretty being near the beach.
We went on the Greek night which was fabulous. Great fun joining in with the dancing and plate smashing!
It's in a beautiful setting and the food is delicious.
