Just came back after 2 weeks at Cavo Dora. We were self catering and in a top floor room, over looking the sea and right the way along the beach. Typical Greek accomodation. Balcony huge, sometimes we would just lie there all day on our towels as it got the sun most of the day. Maid service, as usual, knocking at the door at back of 9! No good when you only got to bed in the early hours. Walls very very thin, heard everything at all hours of day / night. Harrys bar, food good, huge menu. Too many sunbeds around the pool tho, needs another pool in the grounds! Cavo Dora Bar at front, excellant food thru the day, salad platters amazing! The staff, Yannis, Akis and Alison all very very friendly. The bar at night, always busy, massive screens for sport / music channels. Drinks measures are amazing, one night went from sober to mega drunk, missed out the tipsy part, all on 4 vodka cranberries! Pool table at front of bar as well. The Roof Garden, excellent food, mention you stay at Cavo Dora for a discount. Supermarket also at the complex well stocked, although not the cheapest we found.
Wen to Mermaids one night, as usual very busy, but by the time we ordred a drink at the bar, we had a table! Decided not to have starters, as we knew the portion sizes are massive. Hubby had steak, he said very tender but a bit bland. I had a chicken wrap, which was lovely, but couldnt finish it all! Mermaids is slightly more expensive than other resturants we ate, but the plateful you get is huge. One complaint thou, hubby had an ouzo and lemonade - it was €3.50! the supermarkets sell a bottle of ouzo for that price - this was the higgest price he paid and he said he wouldnt give them the money again for it.....
Went twice to this Italian. Very nice. Yes it was more expensive, even the water is a euro more than other places, it comes in a fancy glass bottle. The food is amazing, try the foccica mozerella to start. We both had pizzas both times, because they were that tasty and thin! Deciced on a bottle of wine, which bumps the price up.
Went to this place twice, it was really really good.
Dont normally go to british food places, but this night we just fancied something easy eating and it was just over the road from our hotel. The special was steak pie, which came with the most amazing homemade chips. I dont really like chips, but these were proper chips! The pies were lovely, no fat and the gravy lovely as well. Decided to go back - for the chips! But the Sunday roast comes with potatoes, but you shouldve seen the plate! The lovely lady - might be the owner - said we were lucky as only had 2 left - 1 beef and 1 chicken, and yes we were lucky! The meat was so tender, that lovely gravy again and the mash very creamy!never went here at night, only thru the day, popped in for something to eat. Hubby had tuna mayo roll, he said it was nice. I had a baked potato and I can honestly say this is the nicest baked potato in Kalamaki! Lots of times, you gey one bunged in the micro, and its all hard inside and yuk. This was amazing. Huge potato, done in OVEN, proper crispy skin, fluffy inside with gallons of cheese, with a nice side salad. If you go, you must try one!
Just to clear up earlier comments, which were truthful comments (as this website is supposed to be) . I agree you do get value for money, the service is good as are the views, like all the other rooftop resturants in Kala. The comment with regards to the water, wasnt a complaint (I am not miserable) but it was a reference in general. Beofre I travelled to Kala, I found these reports very useful in planning our evenings. So it is only fair I returned the favour.
