We stayed at the Admiral Apartments Oct 9th 2005 we was very disapointed with these apartments, not with the cleanliness or the location but with the noise that continued into the early hours of the next day.Indeed untill 4:30 am the next day when drunken girls screaming and running around the pool area kept us awake for most of the night. We only stayed for two nights at this hotel before asking to be moved as this was not the holiday that we wanted or indeed expected.

we contacted the Thomas Cook rep who I must say was excellent he got in touch with the Gen manager of the Admiral Apartments/Komadore aparts/Captains hotel who went out of his way to help and indeed moved us to the captains.
What a complete contrast the Captains is to the Admiral apartments, however I am writing about the Admiral here I will put my comments about the Captains on another page.
If you want a lively holday in a good central location with plenty entertainment then the Admiral is for you,it is clean and with all you need for a self catering holiday.
It has a good pool with plenty of sun loungers, some in a grassed area with some being in the shade should you wish it.
However if you want a relaxing holiday I would recomend that you go to the Captains instead.

We booked with Pelargos tours it is situated at the bottom of the road near to the Magic mushroom.

They were very helpfull and did not push us at all the cost was 20 euro for a full day tour on an air conditioned coach.
We stopped at plenty of places of interest including St Timothie.St Moura,Blue caves the old church of st Dionysius.
The stop at lunch was at port St Nicolas where we had lunch and then as an option booked a small boat trip into the blue caves (cost 7 euro each half price for children) well worth the money and should not be missed.
Also visited was the shipwreck viewing platform what a view.
This trip is a must for anyone visiting Zante for the first time this is an island that is well worth seeing.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

We booked with Pelargos tours in Argassi (near to the Magic mushroom in the main street).

We took the trip on theAlexandros the larger of the two boats the tour is a full day taking in about 4 stops, although the day we took the trip the boat could not stop at the shipwreck due to rough seas.
A stop for lunch of about 1 and a half hours is made in a cove where swimming is allowed in clear blue water.
Lunch is available on the boat in snack form ie filled rolls crisps and some warm meals, drinks are also available.
Although the trip is not as informative as the tour by coach is again should not be missed,a word of warning take something warm to ware if you intend to stay on the open deck during sailing as it can be quite cool (October 2005)
Cost 20 euro each and half price for children

Captains Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Derek B

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge We originally booked for the Admiral apartments but after the noise experienced the first night that we
stayed there we very soon realized that what we were sold was not what we got.
Although the apartments are very clean and provided with all the things you require for a self catering
holiday the complex is very lively and we mean untill the very early hours ie 04:30 hours.
The first night we stayed there after being up since 2am the previous night for an early flight we had
drunken girls screaming and running down the corridors at 4:30am this was not what we wanted out of a
holiday or indeed booked.
However the opposite is to be said about the Captains this is a lovely Hotel with very helpfull and kind
staff as is typical in Zante.
The restaurant is exceptional in both its location and the food served,it caters for all tastes including
vegetarians.
It overlooks the bay with stunning views,is air conditioned and is spotlessly clean food is served as self
service leaving you to decide what and how much you want to eat.
The pool area is cleaned daily and has plenty of sun beds,(with mattresses to hire at 1 euro /day should
you want them).
You can of course use the pool at the commadore (the hotel next door) or the one at the Admiral aparts
down the road.
The rooms are clean with air con should you want it at a small charge and have all the things you need,a
fridge kettle 2 ring hob and a microwave/oven/grill plus a toaster.
There is a spacious lounge with leather seating and a tv to relax in at the evening with a drink from the
bar, also a pool table that my sons made good use of.(got them out of our way even if it was for a short
 time)
The hotel is located up a fairly steep hill and may not be suitable for those who find walking difficult, but
the steep hill is worth the hard walk up to take advantage of this hotel's stunning views.
There is an elevator to all floors located in the reception area and although very small is reliable.
If you have booked self catering only you can purchase your evening meal at the reception either each
day or as you wish for 8 euro each half price for children and free for under 4 yrs, well worth the money.
This hotel is located not far from the main attractions ofArgassi and close enough for the local
supermarkets and restaurants, gift shops and tour operators etc but far enough away should you like
ourselves want a quiet evening after a long day exploring this gorgeous island.
Our thanks to our Thomas Cook rep Mark and the hotel manager Gerte also to Tina and Clare for
making our holiday one we will not forget.
In fact we enjoyed it so much that we are going to return in 2006 to this very same hotel.
We cannot recommend this hotel enough, take a look at the pictures attached they are from our room.!!!!!
