Zante Town - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Laura C

Hi all,

We've been to Zante many times and visited Zante town at least once on each visit. There is the occassional begger ( I also saw a woman with a tiny baby in 2004). It is sad that they use their children in this way, but don't let it ruin your holiday. We bought a pack of biscuits for a small boy but that was all.

There are very few people calling you into their restaurant or cafe in Zante town. Most of the places have far more locals in them that brits! We have had many lunches in Zante town and I have nothing bad to say about any of them. We got married in Zante town hall (not the prettiest of buildings lol) and so spent a lot of time there. The best memory I have was of a group of about 15 local old men singing in one of the cafes at about 11am one morning, all slighty tipsy i think. It was amazing and such a lovely feeling to hear them sing without a care in the world.

There are lots of shops in Zante town and plenty of museums too. There are some posh shops and some cheap shops. There as some posh cafes and some regular ones - if you don't want to spend loads then check the menu before you order. Have a look around and remember you're not in a cosmopoliton city, but a small town.

Castaways - (Restaurants in Argassi)

We ate here twice and both meals were great. There's a small play area for children and proper highchairs. Fast service and all the staff very helpful

Courser - (Restaurants in Argassi)

We ate here once. Food was ok but service very slow.

Green Frog - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Great play area for kids out the back and good service. Food not as great as I remembered it being when they were located next to Courser but hey ho.

Snack Academy - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Wow they do good waffles! If you go to Argassi you have to try them!! Great service and very very helpful staff.

Zeus - (Restaurants in Argassi)

We loved it here. We had lunch and the guy who was working was lovely. He kept our young son entertained and even gave him a baseball cap (restaurant branded obviously lol). The food was delicious (we had saganaki  and my son had meatballs and chips) and fast service. Well worth a try

Xenos Kamara Beach Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Laura C

We loved our stay here and would love to go again (NEVER with Cosmos though!). The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is right on the beach which was great and the pool pretty quiet when we went. We had a 2 bed apartment and it was a good size, one double bed, 2 singles, 2 balconies and a kitchen. The hotel is very close to the center of the resort but far enough away to be pretty quiet.

Cosmos - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Laura C  (13 October 2006)

We had nothing but problems from the minute we booked our holiday with Cosmos. Their customer service is awful and I'd describe some of their UK staff as downright rude. The reps in resort seemed nice and did their best to sort out the mess ups made by their HO.

The Monarch flight was amazing and I look forward to flying with them again. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us.We paid for the Monarch Plus and it was well worth it. The inflight food was great and free drinks went down well too.

Think twice before you book a holiday with Cosmos - we thought our holiday was very cheap and the level of service seemed to match it.
