Cavo Doro Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

John M

Hi, We've just come back from Cavo Doro (17/6/6). We stayed in the block out the back (G5) which was fine for the three of us (Two adults - One child.) We tipped the maid on 3 occasions and she looked after us very well.  Pool is nice, kept clean and in orderly fashion. Impressed. Harry in Harry's bar has to be one of the most miserable Greeks I've ever met! The Cavo Doro bar in the front however, was a great spot.  The couple who run it Akis and Alison do a great job and the staff are fantastic.  My daughter who is 12 and a half was taken to their hearts and she was very unhappy to leave.

The Cavo Doro is situated at the end of  the horseshoe of Kalamaki and has a very villagey feel to it.
The restaurants are fabulous. Almost everywhere was excellent with good variety.  Only black spot I thought was Marios (Valdos) across the road from the Cavo Doro bar.  A small baldy guy runs it... He's a bit of a sleazy type who sets fire to the Lamb Kleftiko as a party piece. The meal was miniscule and the service was terrible. The Taverna next door - The rooftop restaurant is superb - great specials!
Enjoy wish I was you lot going out there again!

Cavo Doro Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

John M

Hi All,

What can I say? Thanks to Akis and Alison for topping of a great holiday!  We stayed at the Cavo Doro Hotel and the best bit about the whole experience was being so close to this bar!
Great craic and plenty on every night! Bar staff are great - hello Yannis! Bar food is good too - simple fare hygenically prepared, well presented and tasty too!

Cavo Doro is as friendly as your local but with Greek hospitality - They really go that extra yard to make you feel welcome and for an old cynic like me, I have to admit I was impressed.
I'm not really into holidaying in the same place after I've visited, but I'll definitely go back to Kalamaki and look forward to the best pint of Mythos on the island.
Keep the shots flowing Akis!

Best wishes from Johnny, Anne-Marie and Joeanne (Friends of the Paraguayan ambassador - Edinburgh)

Caretta Beach Holiday Village - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

John M          10/10

Hi,

We stayed in the Carretta Beach for 2 weeks from June 09.
Rooms are nice with shutters and aircon, cleaned regularly, facilities are always clean.
Food in the bar is good and the Greek Night was brilliant!
This is a big hotel complex with a small hotel feel. The staff are first rate...from reception to the cleaners to the barmen.
From the first moment until the final wave off, I couldn't find fault with any of the staff.

Special mentions must go to Thomas and Kevin from Glasgow, they make sure everyone is happy
and are always there with help or information.

Big hello to Demitrius and George in the Bar.  Demitrius is probably one of the nicest and most genuine
of guys you'll ever meet...an absolute gentleman! George is George...C'mon!!!

Finally, thanks to Mariana, and all of the staff, we had a great time and we will be back!

Hi All at the Cavo Doro!!

We're back home a week now and missing you all already.

Big hello to all the staff, including Josh, who actually works now!
Hi to Yannis and Akis, hope all is going well this year.

We met Alison again, and she's on the mend. She's in good spirits and it won't take her too long
to be hopping on the moped again.

If you haven't visited the Cavo Doro bar, I would recommend it. There's always something going on
and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Annemarie says "still waiting for a win at the Bingo!"

All the best!
