This little train trip is well worth 10 euros. We were waving like made on the way to Spiros' museum. The stinky water in the church was good for mozzy bites and we brought a bottle to last us the week back to our apartments. We expected just a couple of free glasses of the village wine but we were plied with so much wine we were sozzled and then we were all given a little bottle each to take back. We also went on the little train Greek night which was excellent value.
We would not have missed this for the world. We had a Greek driver (Dennis) who was mad as a hatter and so funny, he also took us to some amazing places. Worth every penny.
Anyone staying at the Maria apartments is in for a treat. It is run by three Greek men who all have excellent sences of humour and made our stay special. There is a bit of a walk into the village and the beach (11 minutes) but the view coming home is spectacular and you can always get a horse and buggy to bring you home (before 2.30 in the morning though). We loved our stay here and cannot praise it enough, the atmosphere was lovely and everyone met up in the bar and got on like a house on fire.
We found it a bit hard to find a good Greek meal but were recommended the Ponderosa by our Jeep Safari driver who was Greek and the food was excellent, the service matched the food.
