Hi Richie & Stacey. Thanks for the great time we had in Plus Soda from all in the Devon Quiz Team. I bet you were glad to see the back of us after our success in the quizes. We won soooooo many cocktails we almost drowned. Why did we sit at the back?? That's where the tray of free shots was located!!!! Thanks again from Brian, Tina & the kids.
We went for the full island tour on "Top Cruiser", booked through one of the agents along Kalamaki strip (25e compared with Thomas Cooks 38e). Three decks - top two crowded, plenty of room on lower deck - has snack bar. It was a long day (9am - 5pm), but the sea was flat calm and weather perfect. Good commentry onboard. Worth it for visit to shipwreck alone - awesome. Had good snorkelling session near Keri Caves which was a tremendous experience. If you feel you cannot stomach the full day, go for the half day cruise - well worth it.
One of our favourite watering holes. Great for watching sport - only place I've seen with a TV in the loo so you never missed any of the action(!). Very comfy seats & great staff, made us feel very welcome. How many footy shirts are on the ceiling? My partner's only criticism was every time she wanted a sex on the bar the staff were too busy and gave her a cocktail instead!!!!
This is a lovely beach. We headed for a spot about 100m towards Laganas from the Kalamaki Beach Tavern - no crowds, but you'll probably need an umbrella! You need to sit as close to the sea as possible as the turtle wardens ask you to move if you sit too far back (turtle nests are marked by metal tripods). Sea is warm with amazing underwater visibility (don't forget your snorkle or goggles). There are some large mullet about 200m offshore (only chest deep). If you want to see fish inshore, take some bread - they will soon appear. Tavern is a good place for a beer or milkshake at the end of the day.
We stayed a fortnight from 24/8/06 to 7/9/06 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is only 2 years old and is in an ideal location - 5 mins from the strip, 10 mins from the beach so is reasonably quiet. The only noise is from aircraft which land or take off just across the road - but we found this a novelty. The rooms are large & spotless being cleaned every day. Air conditioning is 6 euro per day, safety deposit boxes 1.5 euro per day (these are located behind reception). Cooking facilities are limited, but there is a good supermaket (Gregory's) just across the road. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The pool is large & very clean with plenty of sunloungers. There is an excellant snack bar which also serves up ice cold beer! There is no evening entertainment, but you are not far from the strip. We would definitely go back to this hotel.
Thanks for looking after us Harris, Spyro and Phillipos. We always made sure you were our last stop home - it often resulted us staying for one Mythos too many. Good luck with the football - we will follow your results in the Zante Premier League with interest. Say Hi to Georgina - I know she will look after you and keep you under control - someone has too! Yamas!
