I cannot believe Norma Bruce's comment ~ that the waiter couldn't speak good English!!! HELLO!!!! You were in Greece!!! If they came over here and expected us to speak Greek she'd have a moan about that. Some people are unbelievable!!! Try learning a few words of Greek. They are very willing to help you. Take no notice ~ the place is gr8. Going to Zakythos again this year and will definitly going to The Village Inn.
Just been back to Zakynthos and after going to Zakynthos Town, telling the friends I had gone with how amazing this Taverna was ~ it's now closed. Was really disappointed. Hope it's not for good?
I finally have found somewhere that you can get Octopus that is actually eatable. I always try it when I have a fish platter but this was something else. We had gone in for a drink during the day and said we would like to come in an evening and asked if he (George) would do us a fish plate, as it wasn't on the menu. His answer was typically (good) Greek, 'of course'. He said he cooked it on the charcoal and it would be delicious. He didn't exagerate. Was amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone. As for they look after you better if they know you. That's rubbish! This was the 1st time we had been and we were looked after very well. Not been to Zakynthos for 10 years but next time I'm there I WILL go again.
Agree with everyone here. This bar is amazing and Nicos is MAD!!!!! Throwing straws at everyone and giving out shots on a regular basis. All the staff are brilliant and work together really well. The sex god that is George, Wayne's Irish jig and Greek dancing round the bar and out into the street. Was surprised when talking to Jodie ~ she comes from my home town. We'd been in Tsilivi 3 nights b4 we found this bar ~ but went every night after that. Will be there again when I'm next in Zante. Keep it up guy's and girls. YAMMAS!!!
DIONISIOS ~ (NOT Dionysos) is amazing. Yannis was more than happy to describe the food or how it was cooked etc. I had the best Baklava I have ever tasted. Gr8 value as well. We had a free Ouzo shot at the end of our meal and I took a fancy to my glass. I asked Yannis where I could buy them but he gave me the one I had just drank from. Efheristo Yannis. Would recommend this taverna to anyone. It's down the side street next to The Alamis Hotel.
Amanda, Are you getting a Facebook page? I want to pass your lovey restaurant on to people and FB is the easiest way to get it to many. Will be back for your amazing fish platter next time I'm in Zakynthos.
