Village Inn

When we ate here at this restaurant, the service was terrible they actually brought our main meals before our starters. The meals were cold.   Even though we can speak a little Greek the waiter could not understand what  we were asking for, even though the menu was in English.  I understand that there will always be some sort of language barrier. We have not had this encounter before, each time we have been to Zante. What we know of the Greek language always gets us by. 

Just been back to Zakynthos and after going to Zakynthos Town, telling the friends I had gone with how amazing this Taverna was ~ it's now closed.     Was really disappointed.  Hope it's not for good?   

I cannot believe Norma Bruce's comment ~ that the waiter couldn't speak good English!!!   HELLO!!!!  You were in Greece!!!  If they came over here and expected us to speak Greek she'd have a moan about that.  Some people are unbelievable!!!  Try learning a few words of Greek.  They are very willing to help you.    Take no notice ~ the place is gr8.  Going to Zakythos again this year and will definitly going to The Village Inn.      

We have been here several times over the last couple of years.   The garden area is lovely and so peaceful away from the noise of the town.  We only ate omelettes for lunch which was fine and the mythos was nice and cold

 We had disasterous meal here.  The waiter could not speak good english and screwed up the order.  Our main meals were ready before our starters arrived.  So therefore the main meals were only aired.  My son had Rabbit Stamas and it was full of bones.  The location is lovely pity about the food.

from our very first trip to Zante the Village Inn was luckily enough the first restaurant we were led into by George(the peacock). There we met Ivannos and the owner as well as all the staff who along with the excellent food made us very welcome. The restuarant is a lovely place to eat and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We have returned to Zante afew times and always return to the Village Inn Ivannos always remembers our names which considering all the people he meets is a feat in itself. To sum up great food great service great place but most of all great people who work there.

We ate in The Village Inn purely on reading the entries on this site!!  It is indeed a lovely place in beautiful surroundings.  The food was nice but not amazing but as someone else said the surroundings make up for it!  The three greek guys singing were good and added to the overall ambiance! However the ladies toilet was a big black mark against this place.  It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in about three days!!  It was quite early in the evening when we were there and it wasn't packed but the bin was over flowing ten-fold!! 

Village Inn is one of the best tavernas in zante town! every time we go to zante town ( me and my family have been comming to zante for over nine years now!) we allways eat here! It is in pleasent surroundings and is very nicely run. 10/10 for the village Inn!   kirsty mac fadden (aged 14)

we called in here a couple of weeks ago,we had a mixture of cheese pies,potato salad,garlic bread,beers and soft drinks,it was dinner time and told that this is what the greeks tend to do.very friendly staff,good fresh food and brilliant surroundings.hope to call in again next year,thanks to all at the village inn. check out my photos--------------regards yiannis.

ohhh i dont even know were to start this resturant is the best in the whole world. this summer of 2003 they had live music and it was the most romantic thing ever. just sitting in a romantic candle light dinner with nature surrounding you, how much better can it get those bananna trees and the beautiful peakocks. this place makes you feel on fantsay island it si definitly the best on the island .. go soon

This restaurant is definantly the best restaurant in the whole island. recommended to everybody. i say this not only because the food is great but also because my dad owns it

Trust the waiter on the door, gently encouraging your interest. And go inside.....you won't be disappointed. A leafy, welcoming garden awaits you.The food won't rock your socks, but the surroundings compensate, for a once in a while sort of place. Dine under the orange trees and marvel at the peacocks.

Baby, this is our place..... I will remember our lunch here forever I think.... Thank u for giving me all the strawberrys from our melon plate.... Thank u for making me smile at all your funny jokes about swedish people (as I am) Thank u for the afternoon we spent here, And finally: Thank u for beeing there with me.....

lovely place, the peacock screeched right behind me, almost made me spill my drink (but not quite) if you want a light lunch try the fresh fruit cocktail. fresh melon, strawberries and sweet oranges.. lovely, oh and the banana splits are gorgeous. beautiful serene spot for a cool drink in the shade

My friend and I went here on our last full night on Zakynthos and really enjoyed it. We had the house wine and the fish platter, which we both loved. The surroundings were great although we didn't see the peacock's. This place is a must if you want to get away from the boom boom of Laganas.

Restaurant is on the main road in Zante town.Walk through the restaurant to the outside where it is like a small oasis with palm tress and flowers growing over.Food excellant with excellant service to go with it.They even have their own house wine with the restaurants name printed on which is recommended.There is also a resident peacock which walks through the place to get its dinner.If you dont see it you'll hear it.Fantastic place.
