Afrodite - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Andrew D  (30 September 2001)

we went three times - twice at lunchtime and once in the evening. It is, like others, relaxed and not the place for a rushed meal! Chef's salad good value, as are most of the meat dishes. Amstel and Mythos good value at 500 drachma.

Castello - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Quite pricey but the pizza is massive ! This is too much for one unless you are really hungry. Lasagne is good value too.

Chives - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Andrew D  (30 September 2001)

given this restaurant is connected to Cava D'oro, and is given such a plug by the rep., it is appalling. The service is terrible, the food too salty (swordfish and chicken) on the two occasions that we went. However, the hot mixed mezes (with seafood) is worth trying - reasonalbe value for sharing. Don't consider going as a couple - the staff will ignore you! Definitely not recommended.

Hong Kong - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Set meal for two is good value. Soup excellent. It's a nice meal, though a little more pricey than a take-away at home. However, we went here 3 times - good enough recommendation?

Merlis Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Service was o.k. and the food acceptable. However, we only went once so perhaps this indicates it didn't fire the imagination (or perhaps it's too close to Paris?).

Pelouzo Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

I'd agree about the Gyros Pitta. You need two to make a reasonably-sized midday snack but the price is cheap enough. Good service and the beer is as cheap as you will get elsewhere.

Paris - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Ate here 3 times. Each time the service was excellent and attentive. Worth paying for the Fillet Steak - the beef steak is an off-cut. Tremendous restaurant, get there early since there are queues from 8-9.30, such is it's popularity.

Zepos Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Watch out for the Lamb Diavole - it lives up to it's English translation (copious amounts of water required to cool the throat down afterwards!). Meals are good value and the Ice-cream parfait is definitely worth a try. Service is good though it can get a bit busy around 9pm.

Harvest Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Andrew D  (30 September 2001)

This is the most expensive bar I have been in outside of London ! The entertainment varies between Elvis (again!) and Karaoke with free shots. Don't go for a full evening unless you have a pocket full of drachma.
