My daughter who is 16yrs this year has just quailified as a PADI open water diver in england. She would love to dive in july this year when we are stay in alikanas. She only has snokle, fins and mask of her own. How much would it cost for her to dive and can she hire the equiment she needs. Her friend is also coming but has never dived before, can she also take part? anita, chessington surrey
love the food here. try chicken on the spit. they will accept cash credit cards and debit card.
we go every year in the last week of october. although it is quiet and some bars are closing down we have found they will often open up again just for you. the weather is generally mild to warm but cooler and can be damp in the evenings. its a great time to do site seeing and to hire a car.
took my 15yr old daughter there last year. she was quiet the whole time expect for the odd 'wow'
we went 3 yrs ago and appart from the long coach journey (it got a puncture) it was well worth it. cost approx £70. Athens is great but very busy. we found it best to only croos roads when the locals did that way the cars stopped. go for it, we would again.
hire a car and travel early to get a boat to the blue caves. we had the boat to our selves and it only coast 2000 drachma each.(there was 4 of us). it took about one and half hours but it was brill.
great place to eat. if you are really lucky you may see dolphins swimming of the point
if you like fly's with your meal its not a bad place to eat for a snack
great place to go and watch formula one on a sinday afternoon. the drinks and food make it all the better
we have stayed in the kalithea and the villa thea both very near the redskins bar and we were very disappointed to se what was a really nice little shop that sold home made cakes etc be made into a bar. we as a family feel the area will now be spoiled by this bar beening there. (sorry to everyone who likes it)
Rimmer, thanks for the info. Can you suggest a PADI dive center? would be most grateful
we stayed in the Villa Thea just below shoestrings twice now. it really spoils you for when you have to stay in the appartments that other tour operators have,(even though so of these are really nice). We have also stayed in the Kalithea appartments near by and thes were just as good. we would go back to either at a drop of a hat. Oh yeh we will be there for 3 weeks in july!
The best place to drink. Have been going now for several years. Thanks very much to Denis for a special birthday treat/surprise went my daughter had her 16th birthday on the 10th july. will be back oct 17th.
Hi Julie, mum, Betty and Sarah send their love. The pasta salad with blue cheese and nuts is great but then so is the company. Its true you cannot swim (or walk) are a special ice cream. See you in october.
Thanks to every one there,it gave my daughter the boast in confidance she needed and her friend the thrill of her 1st try dive. We will be back to dive again later in the year and hopefully to do advance padi next year.
Went there mostly for the diving which I thought was good value for both the try dive and the redive. the beach was a little crowded if you stayed near the beach bar but walk for two minutes up the beach and you have more room. went on the ringos for the 1st time and apart from the ever helpful greek wanting to do up the life jacket around my bust it was the most fun I had had in a long time. My sister will second this as she later told me she was cleaned inside and out by the water gushing in! The bar was alittle noisy but a fun place and good value for snacks and drinks. Will go again.
Have been coming to this taverna for the past 8 years. Excellent service, brilliant food, value for money. Big thank you to George, Denis, Dimitri, Oresti, Chrsitina, Sakis, Katrina and Siobhan for organising my daughters surprise 16th birthday dinner with cake and champagne. Will be back in October. Recommend the Spag Boul and Cop Salad!!!!!!!! Also thanks to the other customers who sang Happy Birthday to Stacy and embrassed her!!!!!
Third time travelling with Manos. Stayed in Alikes which had 2 reps. Hazel was ok but was not our rep where as ANGELA who was knew NOTHING. Lost purse and asked Angela for report on 7 July(arrived on 5th) and had to finally get in filled in correctly at airport on departure(19th july). Had to phone Manos head office to find out what was going on as Angela did not even bother to turn up at her appointed times at accommodation. Would use Manos again but they need to sort their reps out and train them better. Good job we know the island having been there more then 10 times otherwise we would have still been sitting there not knowing what to do!!!!
Hi Emily, you can find Catacombes on the main Alykanas Road heading to wards the bridge that takes you Alykes. Its right opp Reginas gift shop and between the greedy Greek trevana and the Letso Hotel. Well worth a visit. try the BMW or the tropical Russian.
does anyone know the web address for St. Nickolas beach diving school? Dived there in july this year and going out oct 17th. Wanted to know if it was still open?
