Castaways - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Debs   (10 July 2001)

Castaways is one of the best places I have eaten in. We went 12th June with 5 kids and 4 adults. The kids had a children's corner- with Katie entertaining them, we had some relaxing meals -which tasted superb into the bargain. Definately a must, I think we ate there at least 11 out of 14 nights. Windmill Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Debs

We stayed at the Windmill apts 12th June. It is a few minutes walk to the beach, but i can say that the beach really is a strip of sand/shingle.Nothing special at all. the best part we thought for the children was to take a right at the bottom of the drive, walk down to the shop and opposie is a gap. If you walk down there there is a shallow pool of water ideal for paddling in and it is quite sandy there, ideal for walking into the sea. The apts are clean, some have showers, some have baths depending on the size of the room. They were clean and we had a lovely view of the pool and the sea. The food was nice and fairly varied and not too pricey. The nightlife is a 5 minute walk, although road is a bit dodgy when you've got pushchairs. I'd go again, shame about the beach though. If you go on free bus to St Nick beach, from The Wreck Pub-Be prepared to buy your sunbeds when you get there, otherwise you can't get on the bus home. Plattens and the Rivetts

St Nicholas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Debs

We went 12th June, on the supposedly free bus service from the Wreck pub in argassi. Granted it didn't cost us much but it is not free as advertised. When we got there we were told we would have to use their sun beds which cost 2000 dracs then we would be able to get on the bus home, so it is not FREE. The beach is nice though, but it is a long day if you have small children. It is a good idea to take food and drink with you if you've got a family, as the Wreck bar there is quite expensive and there isn't anywhere else on the beach to buy anything.

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Debs

This beach was very busy in June, so I bet it is very crowded in busy months. It was not the cleanest beach i have been on either, fag butts everywhere and we found some used needles as well. We went out on the glass bottom boat, the turtles are out there and we saw at least 5. If you are out in the sea at around 2pm look out for the small boats, people were out on lielows near our boat and had a fab view of what we had paid £7 to see for nothing.

Kalamaki Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Debs

If you've got young children head for this resort. We hired a car and came here to see the turtles it was lovely and quiet compared to rest of beaches. We stayed in Argasi and the beach is a real let down. Here there was plenty of space and it was lovely and sandy beach. It is a bit of a walk down to the beach though, especially if you have to take a buggy, which you will have fun dragging along the beach. Watch out for the nudist beach to the left right at the end of the beach if you've nosy children. Deb and family

Doctors Surgery - (Doctors/Chemists in Zante)

Debs

Be prepared to shell out £70 to see a doctor and make sure you have insurance to cover cost, which you'll be able to claim back when you get home..Prescription charges for a throat infection cost £22 as well. So don't get ill while you are over there. We also got told some horror stories about the hospital by some english girls working out there so be extra careful while out there.
