We went to kalamaki on the 3rd july 2005 for two weeks, we went most days to the beach, which generally is quite clean and the sea was lovely and clear. If you want to look for turtles they are definitely out there, we would go snorkelling at about 5pm and you dont need to go out that far to see them. The beach is protected as the turtles are nesting there at the moment and the only down side was there was nobody patrolling the beach to protect any nesting sites and to ensure that people left the beach tidy (alot of people do not know how to use a dustbin!) and also to ensure nobody used the beach on an evening, so if you are going to this beach please try to think of the turtles, keep off the soft sand (as there could be eggs underneath) and take your litter home with you!
Spent two weeks in the Roseland and enjoyed every minute, the rooms were cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed every three days, everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental style breakfast had an excellent choice and there was always a member of staff nearby to make sure that everything kept topped up! I didnt use the pool, (purely because I prefer to go to the beach!) but it was also clean and had a childrens pool and a jacuzzi area. The hotel is at the end nearest to the airport but the aircraft noise is only during the day and it didnt bother us at all.
We ate three times at Artemis during our two week stay, and each time we tried a different starter and main course. The food was excellent, we tried greek dishes mainly (lamb kleftiko, stifado etc) but there was a large choice on their menu if you fancied something not as traditional. The staff were friendly and helpful and the restuarant was clean and the surroundings very pleasant. The prices were very good, on one occasion we had three courses each! a litre of house wine and two cocktails and the bill was about 38 euros.
