Having spent the last five holidays in laganas we always eat out at dennis lokonda at least six to seven nights out of 14.The food is exellent, Pork chop in sauce is my favorite plus the chef salad is great,Peppered steaks are a must and dont forget the stefardo a greek stewed beef or lamb. Dennis is a very charming fellow and always spends a few minutes with us after our meals, avery nice and pleasent resteraunt with excellent staff service and manners. Cannot be missed. A good night finished off with a complementory metaxa brandy, very nice.
The last meal we had at the loconda was September the 4th 2001 and we have just booked to go to Zante, Laganas again, so we can enjoy our favourite pork chop in sauce again this September 2002. I love Zante pork chops and it will be a pleasure meeting Dennis and his staff again in my opinion the best restaurant in Laganas. If you read this Dennis yourself its John & Wendy from Nottingham who usuually stay at Takas & Henriettas, Appartments, Kontonis. See you soon. Alias The Boss.
We visit Vezals every other day in the afternoon for a chef salad and 4 to 5 bottles of Amstel then back to the sun bed and a bit of shade and a mighty fine kip. The waitress there says i drink to mutch but always knows me and my wife the following year when we arrive. A very friendly bar and a nice restauraunt at night, with good priced meals. I like the Zante rabitt or the village rabbitt as it is sometimes called. Going to be there in august not long now.I love Zante.
After just reading all the comments about the Ionian I can not believe the bad comments it has recieved, after spending 5 concecutive holidays for 14 nights each time in Laganas, my wife and I always visit the Ionian, at least twice per holiday, I can say that we have not had a bad meal or incured bad service. Once me and my wife sat down for a meal when 10 young men came and sat down at the side of us, the head waiter asked if we would like to move to another table due to them all wanting to be sat together, I said I did not mind if they did not mind sitting next to us. As we were old enough to be there parents. They all ordered a starter, main & dessert all of this was eaten, they were given the bill of which they all chipped in and also for huge amounts of Mythos & Amstel bottled beer, they piled the money on the table shook hands with the waiters thanked them for a very good meal and evening and bid them my wife and I a very good night. The story is that these young lads had the good stature and manners on how to behave in a foreign country and not be brass and pushy and think that everything is for the British It made me feel proud to be English. After this saga this resturant can not be as bad as some of the comments made. I am going again to lagana and will vist the Ionia like I always do and will continue to do so each time I vist this island.
Went to Lagana 29/8/02 for sixth time on the trot, stayed at the Cristaffi next door, first night thunderstorm and next morning pissing down with rain, so breakfast at the Toad in Hole. A very nice full English breakfast, and very pleasant people. Two nights later with freinds we met, tried the toad in hole, great big yorkshire pud with mince and onion on top, terrific,a must. Sunday dinner was half a chicken with mash and veg, TIP TOP. Had several breakfasts and evening meals, cant fault the place, but it was a bit small, only sits about 6 tables, but if you can abide your time and get a table its well worth it. the owners are a British lady who cooks and her husband a Greek chappie who is a very nice guy who takes time to give you advice on any thing you want to know about Zante. In my opinion a nice place to eat good food.
