We stayed at the Cavo D'Oro Hotel. We are a family of 4 and went B&B. Apartment was absolutely tiny. No room to swing a "mouse". Bathroom was disgusting. No bath, waist high shower with no cublicle or curtain!. Breakfasts were beside the pool and consisted of stale ham and cheese rolls.(every day). Reception staff were the most miserable, people I've ever met.Apert from accomodation, Kalamaki was wonderful, tavernas were lovely would recommend The Paris and Michaelos. Nice bars, would recommend The Mustang Bar as good for families. Would return to Kalamaki but definately to a different hotel.
Apart from very poor hotel , our holiday in kalamaki was lovely. The kids loved every minute. We did not use our hotel pool but used one further down the road which had friendly staff, lovely pool and atmosphere. I think it was called Les Meandros. Our 2 excursions were tiring but fabulous. Smugglers Cove and trip to Kefalonia. The caves here are a must see.
We came here almost every evening after a restaurant. Staff were lovely especially the girl with the long black hair (sorry can't remember name). Drinks and cocktails were great. Excellent entertainment facilities for the kids.Nice bar snacks. Made to feel very welcome.Free shots were great. Would recommend to families especially.
I cannot believe the other comments i've just been reading. Is this the same place??? It was awful. The receptionist was the most miserable person I've ever met. The room was horrendous, not to mention the so called bathroom. We walked in and were trying to find the rest of the apartment. 2 adults and 2 children do not fit in these rooms. The kids bed was ancient and the springs screeched mercilessly with every turn. The bathroom was just a quagmire after use, and there were no fans as advertised. We did not see the rooms in the new block so can only assume that the other comments were about those. Admittedly the gardens and grounds and pool area were clean and pretty and well kept, but the rooms overlooking the garden pathway were sub standard and not recommended.
Booked this trip with our holiday rep. Very well organised.Very long trip.Take extra travel tablets with you if someone in your party suffers with travel sickness as the tablets will wear off due to length of trip. Paid for the trip in advance only to be told of extra entrance fee costs when were on the coach on the wat there. Locations visited were very good. Drogarati Caves, Underground lake and monastary all well worth seeing. Lunch stop was "pre arranged" and very expensive. Watch out for the "complimentary" bread, they will charge you handsomely for it. Also the ice-cream stop was also part of the "deal". Go into the main square where there is a nice little kiosk with plenty of realistically priced ice-creams. We loved the trip but the hidden extras were a bit crafty. The kids enjoyed it but beware, the trip is a very long day.
