Sought out Buon Amici on recommendations from this site before we went. Hadn't worked out where it was the first night, but had a nice chat with Cheryl when we found it later. Both had lasagne on our second night (which was both wonderful and very filling). Ate here again on our last night. Think the food is great, as are the people, and the atmosphere is nice. Lovely to sit enjoying a meal and have Stuart (the chef) visit for a chat. Definitely well worth a visit if you're in Kalamaki (or Laganas).
Ate here once during our week. Had steak and lamb kleftiko. Thought the lamb was a bit greasy (and it had some grissly bits) but the steak was lovely. The Harvest Bar next door is a bit loud. Service very good, people very nice, clean tables etc. Worth a visit.
Stayed here the last week of September. Tended to eat breakfast and lunch. Dia is brilliant - if you want something not on the menu chances are she'll make it, e.g. feta and tomato toast, or toast with your continental breakfast. The Cronulla special (chicken) salad is huge and good value for money.
Had our first meal here - beef stifado and moussaka (which was the more commonly available slice with chips, rice and veg). A very nice meal. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, good service.
Friends took us here for their last night on Sept 28th (hello Peter and Janie). Very nice food, lovely atmosphere, people, etc. The boss is brilliant at attending to everyone and taking names when the place is full. It's quite a walk (end of the main (Laganas) street, turn left) but definitely worth the effort. Best place to go for authentic greek food, etc. Would definitely eat there again.
Lovely taverna by the beach (across the road from the Crystal hotel). One of the few places in Kalamaki that does a decent moussaka in a pot (as opposed to a slice with chips, etc). The deserts all looked wonderful (we had a chicago ice cream). Good service.
We did the Kampi Sunset/Greek Night through Argo. The sunset was fine - a really good place to watch it. The food was awful, most notably the main course which we were told was chicken baked in spices with oven roast potatoes. Turned out to be a dry chicken leg with four slices of oil soaked potato that looked like they'd been waiting for us all day. Desert was bit of sliced apple with cinnamon. The dancing was done to extremely loud recorded music by one man and one girl. That cost 34 euros each. What an awful evening. Had to eat something when we got back to our hotel. Oh, almost forgot to mention the thousands of little midge/fly things that went for the wine and the food, inside and out, and there were no candles at all to dissuade them. Do yourself a favour - if you want to see the Kampi Sunset hire a car and go yourself.
We did this trip through Argo with Forum travel. A nice day, which we did in reverse because the weather was a bit dodgy in the morning. Ended up at the Blue Caves in the afternoon to be told by the locals that the little boats weren't running so there was no point going out. Our guide, Nina, who was brilliant, had spent all day ringing them and been told 3 times since lunchtime that the weather had improved enough so that the little boats were going! Volimes is great for lace, tablecloths, etc. Lunch was fine. The view over Zante town is nice and the ice cream is brilliant (not included). Be prepared for a long day. Well worth doing.
The place to be to watch sunset in Kalamaki. Lovely location which is far enough away from the main strip not to be drowned out by the noise from next door. Good chill out spot. You must go.
