Alykanas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Having booked our holiday to alykanas beach village thro' Airtours last August and paying my balance just last week, they have just told us there is an overbooking on these apartments and can no longer offer us our holiday we booked (16 July 2003). We have managed to re-arrange for a week earlier, but still really feel let down, we booked 11 months in advance of our holiday. I have heard that they overbooked 50 bookings, just wondered who else has been affected and would be curious to know when they booked.

Alykanas Beach Village - (Accommodation in Alykanas)

Just got back from 2 weeks had fantastic time. Found the sunbed situation got worse over the 2 weeks though, time to bag a spot went from by 9.30am to 8am! bit too early on holiday really, loads of people put towels out early and don't turn up til late morning which is a bit off. Also had to ask for our towels to be changed after 5 days, they are supposed to be changed on Thurs & Sun/Mon apparantly. But overall a perfect holiday, nice quiet unspoilt resort. Restaurants we enjoyed were in order of preference: The lemon Tree (also known as Psaurapoula), Medousa, Mantelena, Taverna on the left on the way to Alykes, Dionosos, Apollo. Didn't bother with the Greedy Greek, Posiedon was OK. We tried lots of different dishes and specials and were never disapointed with our food. We only found wasps a problem if the kids had Fanta. Recommend you hire a car as there are lots of lovely small beaches to find, although as resorts go Alykanas is definately the best. Take loads of suncream as it is very expensive out there 12 euros the cheapest for F25plus. We really enjoyed the boat trip through Golen Dolphin to the blue caves with a swim and visit to a lovely taverna. We would defintely go back to this resort again if looking for a beach holiday.
