Have just returned from Kalamaki and had the best meal ever in Zakanoh. Yes, the service was slow but relaxed, as you would expect it to be. All the staff were courteous and polite. There was no menu on display at the front of the restaurant which would suggest that it would be more expensive, however the quality of the food MORE than made up for this. We visited many restaurants in Kalamaki but by the end of the holiday decided that Zakanoh was the best hands down.
Visited Mermaids twice, the first time was excellent I had the Beef Sizzler which was yummy.. the second time however not so good, with Kalamki Surf and Turf. Steak was dry and tough and the scampi was a bit omnious!! Staff great, very efficient, maybe a bit too for my liking. They tried to swipe my husbands dinner before he'd finished on a number of occasions.
Got very busy after about 8pm, so if you want a table, get there a bit earlier.
Visited Cronulla twice for brekkie fry up! Great value, friendly staff and scrummy English Breakfast.. ONLY downfall, it's situated on the main road on a 'busy' junction so can be a bit noisy!
Just spent a week at the Venus Hotel with my husband and baby of 6 months and thought it was great. We found it clean, well maintained and everybody really friendly. The pool was lovely with enough sunbeds for everybody. Weren't too impressed with the uncooked chicken nuggets from the snack bar but the salads were okay! Would recommend hiring a fridge and paying for air-conditioning, we went early May and already in need of AC in the room! Thomson Rep Kevin absolutely fab, really friendly and helpful..also has a laugh that is very infectious!! My ONLY complaint was the noise levels late at night within the hotel. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything from outside and inside. Also altho' whilst can hear noise from the Exotica across the road it is NOT obtrusive and is bearable..also the same goes for aircraft noise too...
Must admit was a bit dubious about travelling with Thomson's as have had bad experiences with them before BUT..they exceeded themselves this time. Went to Kalamaki and stayed at the Hotel Venus and looked after by Kev (& Charlene, although she disappeared half way through our holiday!) He was very helpful on numerous occasions, particularly when Zakynthos fire crew decided to go on strike on our departure day, meaning that our flights were cancelled!! Thomson's arranged for us to stay in the same hotel for the night and provided us with vouchers for lunch and dinner and gave us a phone card. When we finally made it to the airport at 0400am, everybody was organised and got us through quickly and on our way. I have great praise for all the staff involved and their helpfulness and determination to ensure everybody was happy. Thank you Kev for making it a bit more bearable!
