i went on holiday a couple of years ago with my family and my lil sister was taken ill just a couple of hours after we arrived, the doctor was fantastic, the rep called her to ask for advice, she drove straight to the appts where we were staying in kalamaki and took her back to the centre where she sorted her out, my sis had to be airlifted to athens. If it hadn't been for the doctor my sis could easily have died. she is a fantastic woman.
My partner and i stayed at the Hotel Alkyonis for 2 weeks and got back yesterday. we loved it here so much so that we're going back next year.
The Family that owns the hotel are very friendly and helpful and the bar and reception are open 24/7 cheap drinks at the bar 2 euros for one of toms fantastic cocktails!
You can hire fans and air conditioning. The rooms don't have a fridge in them but you can hire one for 20 euros a week. Everyone keeps moaning about not having a shower curtains but it is very rare in greece to have them, we did have one but it didn't make much difference the floor still got wet so it doesn't really matter if you have one or not!
The hotel is in a brilliant location about 15-20 mins away from the main strip, 2 mins from the pool and 5 from the beach.
Linda who runs the bar at the Anna studios just behind the hotel alkyonis and opposite the splish splash pool is lovely, she's very knowlegable and very funny and makes great food!
lovely food, the woman outside was lovely, she really looked after us!
my partner had spaghetti and i had mousakka it was absolutely amazing, quick service and the prices were very reasonable. definately worth going in for food, you wont be dissapointed!
Me and my partner got back from lagana on the 13/9/03 we loved the whole place, the beach was nice, the reason the sand was a brownish colour was because it was wet! you could walk a fair way out before it got deep but it was really nice the water was lovely and clear. if you go to the beach at the bottom of the main strip near wakiki that is where the cars are parked but walk 5 mins in either direction along the beach and you will find that it is a lot nicer! sunbeds are about 8 euros for the day but it is well worth it.
I loved Lagana, the only think i would say watch out for are the small kids who wander along the main strip selling glow-bracelets, balloons and roses, they are a pain in the ass! i have seen them hit people, spit at people and throw water at people among other things. Be careful, they are pickpockets and are very sneaky too!
