At least the weather was good!! The rooms at Athina are the smallest we have come across in the greek islands and the toilet stank of urine. If you want to sit by the reasonably maintained pool and relax I would suggest you sit away from the bar as they have music thumping out all day and most of the evening. The complex is run by a family all of who looked like suicide cases most of the time and never managed to raise a single smile. Many of the guests including ourselves had confrontations with the owners regarding costs of items and their seemingly magical ability to increase as the evening wore on. The pool table in the "complex" is run not on a cost per game but on a timer which can prove expensive.
If we had read the brochure properly before going we should have realised that although all rooms have air conditioning there is a charge to use it of 35 Euros per week.
We will certainly not be going back!!
Unluckily didn't find this taverna until the last week of our holiday, the best we had tried in 2 weeks.
Apart from the excellent food and service, the only greek taverna that we found in our 2 week stay that still gives an ouzo with the bill and to top it all a free bottle of wine on each visit!! (And the wine is not bad.)
We visited this taverna numerous times in our two week stay and never had a bad meal. We also liked it because it is away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Try also the taverna Edem just across the road.
What a fantastic view across the bay, well worth a visit purely for that reason. The taverna also provides a free pick up and drop off service simply ring 42482.
