Excellent trip, was a bit worried about the price at first but you do see almost the entire island including areas you wouldnt be able to get to in a car. I was on "Hangover day" and Malcom was the driver. Take a camera because the views are amazing!
Go and see the elderly Elvis singer on Wednesdays, he is brilliant! Try a "Pink Panther" cocktail from Aide, I promise you he wont skimp on the ouzo and its only 4 Euros. The bar staff are great and dont shy away from joining in the entertainment but watch out for Aide, he tends to throw ice cubes/bottle caps/glasses around. Still not as dangerous as his singing though! (sorry Aide).
3 good pool tables with inside and outside seating, large screen showing sky sports, reasonably priced drinks, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
This place was dank, dark and deserted.
The trip I went on was on the larger boats, not a speed boat and it cost me 20 Euros. Seeing the shipwreck up close was nice and the water was lovely to swim in but I was worried I was going to get left behind as it was difficult to tell which boat was blowing its sinal horn. The ship was too big to go near the blue caves which was dissapointing and it was uncomfortable. If you go take a book, your own lunch and drinks. Also take an exta towel to pad the hard seats as it takes all day because the large boats are so bloody s-l-o-w.
There are 2 parts to Argassi beach, one end is non existent but has water sports and the other end is really lovely with no activities. I have no idea why most of the cafes and hotels chose to spring up around the naff end. Walk towards the Red Lion pub and then go on the beach and walk a bit further. You will be rewarded.
Me and my girlfriend really liked Laganas beach, when we went there were no cars aon the main beach and it seemed clean with a nice atmosphere, i.e. not totally crowded.
Our food was undercooked but were quick to replace it. Im not quite sure what the big deal about the place was, it seemed to be on a really noisy part of the road.
Room very clean, cleaners slightly too keen for my liking. Apart from usual 2 hobs and a sink we had a microwave, a kettle, a brevel toastie maker but no toaster! Refuse rooms in the annex across the road from the main entrance as coaches and street cleaners will wake you up at all hours of the night.
I was in Argassi with my girlfriend from 18-25th September. Dont come in September if you want a mad nightlife as it is a bit quiet and very coupley, not too many children though as the little darlings are back at school (or bloody should be!). The weather is great, although the evenings can get quite cool so dont just bring shorts.
I think Argassi was ok for the sort of holiday my girlfriend and I wanted, i.e. the right balence of nightlife and culture and beach etc. I wouldnt have wanted to stay there another week as it was quite quiet. Laganas seemed like a slightly more exciting place, I would probably recommend there for a longer stay.
The comments on this board are correct, dont be put off coming to Zante by the airport but be prepared. A crap styrofoam cup of coffee costs 4E and avoid buying the sandwiches as you have no idea how old they are and they are not refrigerated.
