Perhaps one of the best resaurants in Alykanas. The setting is so perfect, especially for us romantic people ! We ate there on 3 separate occasions and we could not fault the food, service or the price. On each of the 3 nights we picked meals from the "specials" menu", and were not disappointed. The red snapper fillet cooked in a kind of tomato ratatouille was something else ! On our first visit, the horse and cart was unable to get us back down to the new town due to the rain, so we were looked after by the staff with some local brandy - free of charge, until the rain went off and the horse was able to resume his duties once more ! A highly recommended restaurant.
The best restaurant in Alykes by far ! We ate there on 4 occasions and each time the food, ambiance and the atmosphere just got better ! The meze for 2 was superb and sums up just what Greek food is all about. We ate traditional Greek dishes on all 4 occasions and we were not disappointed - by far the best meal was the traditional Zakynthion beef stew, which just melted in the mouth ! The best Rose wine is surely served her also ! The quality of the food was rivalled only by the Psaropoula restaurant in Alykanas. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and what made this location special was the horse and cart repeatedly going past offering some light entertainment ! "I'll Be Back" & "Hasta La Vista" spring to mind !
We tried the Piccadilly on 2 occasions and were not disappointed. By far the cheapest and best value for money restaurant in Alykes. The local white wine from the barrel was the best we tasted during our 2 week holiday, and we had wine every night with our meal ! The starters were probably the best we had with giant beans and garlic mushrooms 2 that spring to mind. We ate fish both times, and the swordfish fillet is recommended, as is the cod served with a garlic sauce. Staff spoke very good English, and were very attentive.
Good place for people watching ! We had breakfast there on a couple of occasions and were not disappointed ! Although it gets busy there is a good and friendly atmosphere, and although our kids are grown up, it appeared very child friendly, with a good choice on the menu for the young one's. The lemon chicken and the curry chicken were both superb and should be tried if visiting - they were huge portions by the way !! The starter of hummus was delicious. A totally different kind of restaurant to others, but variety is the spice of life ! and this should be tried at least once. We would have gone back, but everytime we passed it was so busy ! Surely this must speak volumes.
A good traditional Greek meal was had ! We tried a traditional Zakynthion lamb dish cooked with pasta and this was superb ! Excellent service in a lovely setting just off the main road on the way to Old Alykanas.
We tried here early on in the holiday and were a little disappointed with the main meals - we had roast chicken, which was OK, but the sliced roast pork on pitta bread was very disappointing. However the starters were excellent, and this prompted us to go back and try a second time. Well, what a difference ! It was the night of the power cut, and the place appeared to be the only one with any light. we chose the same starters as the first night, and once again were not disappointed, but the main meal of pork in lemon sauce was out of this world !! You really must try this dish. Good wine and a nice little touch with the ouzo apperitif, and very reasonably priced too !!
