This place is fantastic, a group of us went last year and ended up eating here about 8/9 times because it was so nice, the menu is really varied and we ate all sorts from mexican to chinese and the roast potatoes are to die for! The waiters are lovely, my sister fell over down the road and cut both her knees and one of the waiters took her inside, cleaned her up, put a plaster on and made her a cuppa tea! We are going again in June and wont even bother eating anywhere else but Romios. I highly recommend it. Facing Cosy Corner turn right.
I stayed at the Ionis last July, Ive had many greek holidays and I must say it is the best greek hotel I have ever stayed in, very clean, hot water and air conditioning, we stayed bed and breakfast but still got a fridge. Pool is clean, staff are lovely, very friendly. It is on the main stretch but set slightly back off the main road and was not noisy with the patio doors closed. I am going back to Laganas on 27th June for a fortnight with the girlies but unfortunately couldnt get in the Ionis so will be staying at the Elisa instead.
Hey Ross, you n your mates will love it, I went last year with the girlies and we enjoyed it so much that 5 of us have booked to go back again this year. Nightlife is fantastic you wanna try Zeros, Rescues, cherry bay, cocktails n dreams (watch them stairs though!) if you're owt like us you wont have any energy to do much during the day apart from cabbage out by the pool but we hired a speed boat for a couple of days (quite cheap) n went over to turtle island for a bit of turtle spotting and snorkelling etc. Only thing to watch out for is the albanians, dont show em where you keep your money, a couple we met were staying near the beach and had their apartments broken into but dont let that put you off - just a warning. Ur there same time as us and looks like you on the same flight home so look out for the donny lasses n have fun!
When I saw the Golden Sun comments I just had to add my own. I have been coming to Greece twice a year for the last 10 years and have nearly always booked with golden sun until two years ago when they left two girls sat on their suitcases outside their apartment in the middle of the night down a dark lane with no lighting, no keys to get in and then didnt bother to come back! After numerous phone calls to the office another rep turned up approx. 6 hours later with a set of keys to another apartment and cases had to be dragged for miles just so we could get some kip, when eventually the right keys turned up the cases had to be dragged all the way back to our original apartment and a whole day had been wasted messing about and making numerous phone calls. For wasting one night and one day Golden Sun very generously offered 10% off our next holiday with them, well you can keep your 10% Golden Sun we wouldnt travel with you again if you offered to pay the other 90% as well.
Chris, Ive been all over to places such as Ayia Napa, Malia, Faliraki you name it, ive probably sampled it but I have to say that I love Laganas the best, the nightlife is fantastic, the cocktails are yum the shots are free, goldfish bowls are strong (I got red sick!) if you loved Malia then get ursen to Zante. Theres 5 girlies booked to go beg. of July n cant wait. Might see you there.
Rach, I went last year at the end of June and it was absolutely banging then so uve got no need to worry about it not being busy in July - it will be mad
Big yawn from me Jenny, read it before, your starting to bore now.
Fotis (Frank!), u got our support, we will be there at Bar Code in July. Zeros will definately not be the same without you.
I loved this place, Tyson was great, he saw us coming n had our drinks on the bar. Have I read somewhere he's not coming back again this year??? We spent most of our hols between Zeros n Rescue and enjoyed every minute of it, really entertaining, cant wait to go back end June.
Vicki, try www.faliraki.me.uk. I thought it was brilliant a few years ago when I went a couple of times with my sister and decided to go with my fella but Club Reps had been on the telly and completely spoilt it. I would definitely NOT recommend going to Faliraki, it used to be a nice place but its had its day and is now too rough and full of d*ckheads. If you do decide to go be very careful, especially with your drinks as Rohyipnol is available over the counter from the local chemists! Get ursen to Zante instead, its THE place to be and like Falaraki used to be in the good old days (that makes me sound old!)
Natalie, To answer your questions - Laganas is brilliant for couples and singles. Ive done both and June is v. busy, whether couple or single you will meet loads of people coz every1 is really friendly. We liked Zeros, Rescues and Cocktails & Dreams which are all on the main strip opposite one another but it depends what you like - they're banging but further up the strip its quieter and you can find bars that aren't so full on. Loads of nice places to eat but Romios is really nice (right at Cosy Corner-just off main strip) read some of the reviews on their site and also Bee Garden which is the best chinese in Laganas that's also on main strip opposite Ionis Hotel. For films we found a bar also opposite Ionis but we watched them at around 6ish, not sure about the daytime as we spent it round the pool. Im going back on 27th June with girlfriends for 2weeks, cant wait either! Hope this has helped? Have a fantastic time - I know we will !!!
Bloody hell Big Craig, 30 lads! Dont think we will be able to miss you lot then. n yeah, its better than Faliraki.
6 Donny lasses heading out on 27th June, its gunna be banging. Not long to go now, see you all soon.........
I usually spend about £700 but this year as there were a few of us we bought loads of alcohol and got drunk while we were getting ready each night. It just meant that as we were already on our way before we went out we could enjoy the bars more as we werent hammering the cocktails down -in fact we ended up having more shots than anything else. Ended up getting hammered every night and saved £200 as only spent £500 this year so well chuffed. Plenty of banks over there as well and its much easier to just take your cash card rather than messing about with travellers cheques.
One bar you must try is Bar Code, its just up from Cosy Corner on the left hand side, cheaper than in the main bit, we were making our own fishbowls. Great starting point each night (and finishing point when we managed to get there before 6am.)
I loved this place it was great, some proper cheesy music but it was all fun, nice to go out onto the beach and cool down as well.
We went at the beginning of July and stayed over the road at the Elisa but used the apartments on our last day to get showered before we left and they were so much nicer, cleaner and bigger than the Elisa.
The pool was lovely and they served decent snacks and the strawberry slush was yum.
Watch out for the big boss woman who screams and shouts across the apartments, the entire family had an argument that lasted for about an hour, we all thought we heard the cleaner get a slap. Not nice for the cleaner but she kept the entire pool entertained!
Big shout to Spiros the barman who spent a fortnight trying to broaden my greek vocabulary bless him. Hope to see you in September.
We were here beginning of July and love this place, not the same as last year without Fotis but still wicked. Big shout to Alex, Chambers and to Jimmy with our Smirnoff ice races where loser buys the drinks and bless him he lost every race - you cant outdrink a donny bird!
Only downside of this place is that greek guy who everytime I went in he wanted to do 'snuffy nose' with me. I may have looked off my head but I was just hammered and definately not hammered enough to go with him. Not impressed by that but Im an adult (supposedly!) and know better, I just hope he stays away from the teenagers who might be persuaded.
Our favourite bar by far. We met Fotis last year in Zeros and knew he had opened up his own bar so tracked him down the first night. Got to say well done Fotis, brilliant friendly bar with a really good atmosphere for which you've also got Lorna, Takis and Spiros to thank, not forgetting the lovely PRs Graham and our mate Mr Motivator! We were here beginning of July and it was the best place to start off each night especially as the drinks are cheaper than on the main strip and if we headed home before about 6am. then we also ended up in this bar. Also came here to see Greece win the final which was an absolutely amazing experience, both in the bar and then afterwards for the street party that lasted about 6 hours! Great tricks, free shots being brought round, we even got to make our own fishbowls. Lorna, will e-mail you privately but hope to see you all again in September.
Last year my favourite place was Romios until this year I discovered Ruby. The food was beaut. Some restaurants have the menu outside and you can take one, we asked for their menu and they said they didnt have one to take away but showed us their main one. When we looked at it we understood why, being a chinese and indian they had a massive choice, pages and pages of different foods. We came here twice and had a mixture of both. I think it might have to be the best curry I ever tried and it was only a Madras! You also get a free bottle of 'champagne', well its really a bottle of fizzy wine that you can buy at the local supermarket for under 2 euro but its the thought that counts. Very friendly staff and if you can brave a curry in the heat then I recommend this place. 10/10
We came here for the sunday dinner and had a carvery which was really nice, you could eat as much as you wanted and the food was covered up in metal trays but I would not recommend anything else. The carvery is next to the buffet/salad bar which is not kept covered up and there were flies over everything. While we were eating a bird actually came and sat on the counter and with its feet in the food started eating the pasta and the waitresses didnt even bother to shoo it away! kind of put us off a bit but we all told ourselves we were alright coz our food had been covered up.
I must admit I liked the food in this place but what puzzled us was the fact we walked passed and saw the waitresses carrying plates of food over from Fatsos next door for their tea so it put us off a bit as we wondered why they wouldnt eat at their own restaurant?? It wasnt like it was a one off either that we could put down to them fancying a change, they were spotted a few times!
No did not like this place, felt completely ripped off. I am not a big eater and rarely have a starter as it means I cant eat my main meal so I ordered the chinese chicken and I have to say it looked like a starter, if you had put that in front of a bloke they would have laughed. Luckily I was not starving but I still left there feeling hungry and ended up eating again later on.
We ate here a couple of times and liked the food, although did seem to get the same veg no matter what meat I ate. Dint see no birds or birds nests though, perhaps they have been removed?! Friendly waiter service with some cool tricks to keep you entertained.
This is not KFC!! cant believe I actually ate some of it, I would have chucked the lot if I werent so hammered. They most definately did not have the Colonel's secret recipe!
We ate in loads of restaurants and had many nice meals but Im a really fussy eater so im limited to choice. For nearly a fortnight I fancied a nice chicken n pasta in tomato sauce and couldnt find one (daft as it sounds!) then we found this place at the end of our hols and my meal was perfect. You got to watch it being cooked by the chef so you could see it was all freshly prepared. Only downside is that it was hot in there despite it being open air and the tables were a bit cramped.
Slice of pizza n cajun fries mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Watch the bloke who owns this place, he offered me 'snuffy nose' as they seem to call 'coke' in Greece. I didnt quite understand him at first but he demonstrated by pretending to snort some and then asked for 50 euros! I thought this place was supposed to be for kids! Just a warning as Im an adult (supposedly!) and was only walking passed.
Quite disgusted that Ive been coming to Greece for the last 10 years and never before heard any mention of drugs until now.
The beach in Laganas is awful as its used as a road on a night but if you hire a boat out, take a picnic and go over to turtle island you will find the best beach in Zante which is not very busy and although there are no shops there or anything little boats pass regularly and they are well stocked if you would like a sandwich, drink or an icecream.
i think "18-30 cesspitt" is a bit ha**e! i went in july and its my second time, ok i admit i am still in the 18-30 range but being 27 i am at the top end and i love it. people old and young go to laganas, last year we got friendly with a couple in their late 50s who come here most years and they also love it. you dont have to be on the main strip if you find it too much like "blackpool" there are quieter bars up the road where you can listen to music, watch a film or a live turn and if you have visited laganas beach and not seen the turtles then you have really missed out.
