hello..for anyone taking young kids here, let me give you some handy hints to amuse the little critters! we did it last year with a 3yr old. stayed at alykanas beach village for it's proximity to the beach.
accom and location both excellent. but we ended up hiring car for a week as i know the rest of the island like the back of my hand, and it is perfect size to explore with little'uns. never far from a sandy beach.
palm bar...we found this in nearby alykes. the horse and carriage that stops outside these apartments will get you there in ten mins. the bar was a welcome find. it has large grassy area out front with few tables/chairs, but is not packed this time of year. the grassy area has little tikes playhouses/slides etc.....stayed here many an evening.
tsilivi (ten min drive away)...moby d**k bar on the beach is open all day and late into evening. perfect setting on beach and with a largish play area.
argassi...as you approach resort there is big indoor soft play area here and animals etc for looking at purposes. good if weather less than brilliant.
alykes...either get horse and cariage or walk along the beach from these apartments. it is a nice stroll in the evening and there is a crazy golf site there.
porto zorro...perfect kiddies beach. natural rock formation provided bath like swimming pool at end of beach. safe and sandy with good taverna on beach.
gerakas...the best beach maybe. backed by cliffs. pure sand and a nice car ride to get there.
dafni...idyllic quiet sandy beach with taverna. bit harum scarum driving to it. down steep incline, but worth it.
gyri...step back in time and find this inland village. the place is untouched by tourism. they have the occasional little yoghurt and honey cafe place? they will treat you like long lost family, just for making the trip. safe for kids to amble around.
have a great time all of you. hope you love it as much as we do. the airport is small, but we have never felt completely traumatised there! get there, check in and find a spot to plonk down. do not move away, unless in shifts and just plan your return visit.
Another satisfying visit to Piero's. It is consistently above average in all aspects. Food delicious, the king prawns were of gargantuan proportions and the steak was melt in your mouth quality.
Service friendly and relaxed. Crayons and pics given to the rugrats to colour-in.
It never fails to deliver an excellent meal awash with ambience.
Still loud and rockin'. Excellent service from the skilled barmen. Air conditioned and room to dance........until late. Who could ask for anything more?
Visit Jokers early in your holiday, because you will want to return.
Hiya Marios and all!
Agree with the comments below about the food. We found this taverna during a torrential rain storm one October..just drove up and up through the cloud that had settled on top of the mountain, until the cross appeared from within the gloom.
Had a delicious meal whilst the storm raged around us....very good glass doors kept it all ouside. Open fire was lit in the corner and the staff very friendly, didnt want to leave.
Just opened, up in the mountains on way to Volimes. This is well worth a visit. We were there when it opened and were the only visitors. A natural environment to see..rabbits, racooons, pot bellied pigs, ducks, goats, deer etc etc. It is sited on ruins of old settlement, so interesting layout. Old wells along the way and a well planned route so you take in all the park has to offer. Even on a scorching day, there was shade and cooling breeze up there, and lots of benches for sitting and gazing. A lovely peaceful visit awaits you. Ideal for kids, they even provide free bottled water to carry.I can not remember admission costs, but there were really low....hope you enjoy it too.
The website isn't in operation anymore.....Mario keeps threatening to sort it out, but hey this is Tsilivi time!
The web page is defunct. I will be over there once Jokers closes and can pass on any messages...if that's any good?
Was the weather ok when you were there?
If I don't get to see you before you fly off Kostas, CONGRATULATIONS and have a wonderful winter. But please don't take the sun with you.

Well done Gregory on your web skills! I had the strangest dream last night about Jokers....the toilets were being painted....a damson colour. But then the mirror broke and I woke up.
Looking forward to another wonderful season at the best bar in Tsilivi.
Three cheers for Jokers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed! It's the only place in Tsilivi I would take friends to. I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always superb and the service second to none. They make the kids welcome and the slush puppy machine is a boon. Recently a friend tried the cajun chicken and now won't eat it anywhere else in the UK because she knows she will be disappointed...and she is a big cajun chicken fan.
A mouth watering experience in the best restaurant in Tsilivi. The food was gorgeous, definitely recommend the BEKRI MEZE ( you'll find it in the fillet beef part of the menu).....strips of melt in your mouth steak to die for and cheap at half the price. You'd treble the bill to get food and service like this in London. Relaxing surroundings and proper tablecloths...who could ask for anything more? And a big thumbs up from my daughter for the seafood salad and colouring pictures.
Mea culpa.........almost forgot, the ROQUEFORT SALAD is delicious too, perfect combination of roquefort, crispy bacon, fresh salad leaves and all delicately drizzled in a honey/mustard dressing. Brought to your table with a smile and eaten with gusto.
A lovely relaxing place to while away the day.....Sam, Sakis & Sophia run a gem of a place. The pool is inviting and clean, with toddler pool attached. Enough sunbeds even in August. The food served is always fresh and welcome. And the beach is just a minute down the track.
Would definitely recommend a trek with AKROTIRI horse riding....had a fantastic hour up there , early evening it was cooler and lovely to be in the olive groves. Marie runs a fabulous stables, the horses are well cared for, and they are bullet proof for the inexperienced .Non riders are led by girls who love the horses. My six year old is still telling everyone about her experience . I will be booking another trek as soon as I return.
We loved this place....really authentic greek food and friendly waiter. We tried a few dishes over the fortnight and can recommend the swordfish and mixed kebab and chicken souvlaki. The kebab comes with all the trimmings....tzatziki, salad, potatoes, veg and a smile. Well done and good luck with the business.
We ate here once and liked it, the only reason we didnt return was that we had too many other restaurants to try! Can recommend the chicken souvlaki and the mixed vegetable platter.....very greek and good house wine. Friendly service and reasonably priced.
Glad we found this place...it is in the middle of tsilivi and easy to walk past, but we stopped and then returned a couple of times. Fantastic food and wonderful friendly service from Arlene and her family. Good luck with the business you deserve the best.
Have just spent another lovely couple of weeks frequenting Sam and Sakis's wonderful establishment. Hello to sam, sakis, sophia, regina and isabella.....a terrific family. Once again gorgeous food, relaxing pool and friendly holiday makers. The place is spotless and the atmosphere welcoming. No wonder you are so popular!
Glad you have moved to Tsilivi as it saved us travelling to Laganas! Once again a perfect way to while away an evening . Would reccomend to anyone with or without kids....the trampolines and bouncy castles hit the spot with the younger element and the reptiles wow everyone. Good luck with the business you deserve the best.
Also perfect to visit in the evening....good home cooked food, the waves lapping a few feet away and kids happily playing on the beach until the wee small hours. Excellent place to sit and forget about the hustle and bustle of tsilivi town....watch the bats flit about and hear yourself speak!
Only visited the once....service was good and drinks fine, but the play equipment looked past it's sell by date and about five kids all had various knocks and bumps in the one evening. The slide is strangely steep and one little girl nearly broke her arm by coming down it and landing in a heap. Another cut herself on a plastic Tikes playhouse that was cracked, another slid on the stone tiles that inevitably get a layer of sand on them and a fourth got whacked in the head by a swing (they are in the middle of the play area and toddlers had a few near misses.)
