Three of us going to Arkadianos Apts. and all three of us are Vegitarians. . . . Any recommendations as to where to eat from fellow Veggies!?

We had a week here from 8th to 15th Sept. The room was 207T and was plenty big enough for three adults (2 bedrooms) The cleaner was in most days (without a tip to encourage her. . although she did get a few euros at the end!) We did have a problem with the air con. not working, but the receptionist refunded our money when the guy couldn't fix it. Over all we found the staff pleasant, the rooms comfortable (beds were a little hard) and we are looking at returning in May or June next year. The only downside during the whole holiday was the return trip from Zakynthos airport. . .horrible! We queued outside (undercover) for ages and when you get inside, 20 at a time there are only 2 check-in desks. When you get through passport control you are one of about a thousand people with only 100 seats. The weather was fantastic, 30 to 35c most days. The sea is clean and very warm, sunbeds on the beach below Sirocco taverna were 3Euros a day. Sirocco was our best choice to eat.

We had most of our meals here. The staff were very friendly and the food was generally very good. We are veggies so finding a menu with enough variety was something we were anxious about before we went, but we found Sirocco catered for us well. BBQ night looks good fun, we were unable to get a table but ate next door at Manthos and still had a good view of the antics, dancing on tables and in a ring of fire in the middle of the road.

Sun loungers free, matresses 1 euro. Aircon has gone up to 7 euros a day. (Had to have it on to heat the room at night) View from room 207T of the rear "Tereza" pool, and the view from 320 at the front of the building out towards "Turtle Island". Lots to tell!

May - (Best Time to Visit)

Michael H

click to enlargeWere there from 4th to 18th May. Weather was great, first week a little slow to warm up a great deal, and the sea was on the chilly side, but week 2 was fantastic. Evenings and nights were cool and a light jacket or "cardy" for the ladies would be advised. Don't know what temps were during the day but on the way back to Ag. Sostis we passed a garage in Kalamaki with a date/temp sign and it showed 33c and that was at 6pm! Certainly good tanning weather. Not all places open the first week but geared up for the second week. Just about everything open by then including Macdonalds KFC and Pizza Hut in Laganas! There were quite a lot of small tremors, mainly at night which were worrying at first, but these were very minor and nothing to cause damage etc. We had 8 in one day! The big plus was having the place to ourselves almost. Certainly that 1st week was quiet. The roads were deserted almost and we got upgraded on the car hire by 2 groups! (Brand new vehicles too)

Last to comment in 2005 and first in 2006. This place is great. The staff are very friendly and entertaining, the food is top notch and what could be better than eating just a few feet from the water's edge as a full moon rises like a great red ball out of the sea. Can't praise it enough. Mainly Dutch diners, but they are very good company! Hi to Ben, Eddy and Roz! Friday night is BBQ night and you get pork, chicken and village sausage with rice and salad plus dancing in the street for 10 euros. Add your comment here

Hi Lisa. . . food was about 5 to 7 euros per main dish, more if you want steak or fresh fish. Starters 3 to 4. Always kids stuff on the menu like burgers & pizza etc, and you get chips or rice with most things. We are vegetarian, so I'm probably not the best person to answer you. Omelettes come with chips often inside the omelette, and the cheese can sometimes be a local goat's or ewe's cheese which is very strong. If you are staying at Aradianos then you should find plenty to eat in the tavernas along the front. if you come out of the building and turn right there is a takeaway just past Syrtaki which looks ok. We saw fish and chips for 5 euros. Big salad with it and the fish was sole. Drinks, not too sure again. Wine in the supermarket is just over 3 euros. Beer Mythclick to enlargeos and Amstel about 1.75.

Pic shows the front pool with Maestro taverna along the water edge. Sirocco and Manthos further along.

DON'T PANIC!  I don't want anyone to panic. The tremors only last a second or two and are very minor. Sounds a bit "Titanic" but true. The 2 weeks I was there only one was worthy of a mention by the Helenic seismology site. . . .  and we had 8 in one day. Honestly they are very very slight. Just odd at first., and quite interesting if you've never experienced it before. Sunset, our tour rep, put a notice up in reception at Arkadianos to say the building is regularly inspected, there is no structural damage, and the authorities have so many warning stations around the whole of Greece that if anything big was going to happen they'd know about it by the build up. These minor tremors really aren't worth worrying about. If you Google seismological station and find a site begining lemnos.geo.auth.gr that will give more info.

The aircon is 7 euros per machine, so if you have a 2 bedroomed ap. it's 14 euros! That's £5 and £10 per night.

click to enlargeThe beach . . . .it's down to one row of loungers. I can't believe the beach has disappeared that much! Do you mean 4 rows deep as opposed to the one it's down to now? Wow, that's dreadful.

Don't know what the other rooms were like but we found 207 at the rear of the building (where most of us Brits end up) was very nice. Entrance into kitcken area, bathroom off to left. The kitchen area opens up into bedroom 1 then walk tro to bed no.2 and out onto balcony. We saw into one room that had multiple beds for kids/ group of 6 or so and one bedroom was enclosed with no windows, very dark.

Frank. . . .reception at Aradianos change money for you and as far as I recall they don't charge, but not 100% sure on that. There are safety deposit boxes in reception so I kept sterling in there and just changed it up when I needed to. Be sure to have a great time now . . . you lucky devils!   dd your comment here

Lee. . .Ben and Roz are still running the place but Maria was away at University. Lydia was about to have a baby but she popped in and waited tables a few times until Ben got worried she'd give birth there! Ben's brother Eddy was there along with most of the family, cousins etc. . . they all muck in!

Try contacting Lithakia Beach Aprthotel behind the Scirocco. They are on this site. They may have his details or pass on a message. I may even have a phone number for them. I'm away from home right now but if you can wait a week I may be able help you.
