Koukos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G

Will have to break the trend here and say that our experience of Koukos doesn't seem to have been as pleasant as most others'.  Whilst the waiters were friendly and the service very good, the food just wasnt up to the standard we became accustomed to in Tsivilli.  Perhaps I was unlucky in my choice of steak, but it was bland and not hot enough.

Being literally dragged into the dancing entertainment whilst eating our main course was also not the best since a rather luke warm meal was practically cold by the time we could escape to eat the rest.

Yet the entertainment was an experience, my starter of squid was very nice, and the atmosphere one of the best we encountered.  Given the praise from others on this website, I think I was simply unfortunate and would advise others to certainly give the restaurant a go on either a wednesday or sunday for the entertainment (and perhaps be a little more determined in declining the offer of a dance if halfway through your meal)

Calypso Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G

Very friendly service, excellent value for money and wonderfully cooked and tasting food (I had the seafood Souvlaki).  Aside from Fiorentino, this was the best reastaurant I ate in in Tsillivi (and we ate only in restaurants with a 9 or 10 rating from this website).

Would recommend that anyone visitng should Tsillivi should eat here early in their holiday so that they can go back again should they enjoy it as much as we did.

Pieros - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G

We enjoyed the Fajitas so much here we went back for them a second time later in our holiday.  The service is very quick (perhaps even a little too quick?) and the waiters friendly and attentaive enough.

Yet possibly because we chose from the mexican section of the nenu (the buffalo wings and jalapeno peppers starters were also excellent) we found this restaurant to be the most expensive we ate in - by quite a considerable margin.  Yet I guess we must have thought it worth it, otherwise we wouldn't have gone back!

Would certainly recommend to anyone who enjoys fajitas or is looking for something a bit different to that offered elsewhere.

Popeyes - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G

Popeyes is by no means the nicest restaurant in Tsillivi for food or ambiance, but then Im not sure it would ever claim to be.  You can tell by looking at it that its gonna be a cheap and cheerful place, and in both senses it is.

Whenever we wandered past in the evening it was always very popular, and whilst we preffered other places with perhaps a little more character in the evening, we ate lunch here twice.  The omelettes and burgers were tasty and good valuse for money.  The waiters were friendly (thought their jokes startnge ), and the service pleasant and attentaive.

If you're after classy dining, avoid Popeyes, but for just about everyhting else, would certainly recommend it.

Family Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G

We turned up to Family at quarter to 11 and despite it being very late and the last people to eat in there, the waiters showed no impression of wanting to get rid of us/ rushing us or anuthing of the sort.  Quite the contrary, they were the friendliest we encountered and we had a really good time chatting and joking with them (watch out for the mobile disco in the form of a Fiat Sciento!

The food was great - really nice and with such a low price, certainly some of the best valuse for money we had.

Levante Speedboat Trip - (Zante Excursions)

Mike G

Certainly the best 35 euros we spent in Tsillivi!

Setting off at 8.30 in the morning in a speedboat to the shipwreck meant that we were the only group (25 of us) on the beach while we were there.  On the way back round stopping at the blue caves we saw four of the large boats go past in very quick succession.  This must have meant that when they all arrived at the cove, there was close to 1000 people at the shipwreck.

On the way back we were taken INTO each of the blue caves (four in all) and they really are a spectacle.  Again, unlike the big boats who cannot get anywhere near the caves, we got some unforgettable views and pictures.  I was lucky enough to be asked to dive into one of the caves to demonstrate the colour of the water, and diving under made the views even more spectacular.  The only downside of the whole trip is that others weren't able to do this.

Reading the comments from others I expected Captain Spiros to have somewhat of an ego and be a bit of a show-off.  I saw nothing of the sort.  He was friendly and funny, and an excellent guide throughout.  If you cant find Ian on the beach, we booked through the shop at the corner of the road you walk along to get to the beach.  Book early or you wont be able to enjoy this fantastic and unmissable trip.

Tsilivi Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mike G

There IS plenty of choice, as much as Ive ever seen, and our go on the double ringo was great fun and very much enjoyed.

We didnt get thrown off but then if you're eager to be so (as evidently the last person to post comment was), I would suggest letting go

It appears well run and safe, and we went up to Dennis' Bar that evening and collected two free photographs which they took from the boat while we were enjoying the ride! - Great service.

Planet Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Mike G

OK, so the music from the bar at night was loud, but by shutting the double glazed doors the volume was one at which after a few minutes in bed you became accustomed to and could easily fall asleep with.  And really, a bit of noise is a small price to pay for the many, many positive aspects to these apartments.

With a good sized bedroom and very spacious living/kitchenette area, and a large, clean, evidently new and well maintained bathroom, the apartment was everything my girlfriend and I could have hoped for.  I think it could easily suffice for a family with younger children and since the living room/sofa beds are behind the bedroom (the balcony overlooking the pool and bar accessible from the bedroom), children staying in this room would incur even less of the bar noise.

The apartments were spotless when we arrived and cleaned every day bar one.  The safe was secure and for 15 euros, gave peace of mind at a very reasonable price.  The owner of the apartments, his sons who ran the bar and the lady who ran the snack bar were each very welcoming and friendly.  The snack bar was perfect for breakfasts, lunches, snacks and drinks.

The location really couldn't have been better; situated inbetween the two hubs of Tsiliivi and within a short walking distance of the best restaurants, bars, and beach.  The pool was large, always clean and there were plenty of sunbeds.  All in all, we really couldn't have asked for anything more from the accomodation and the holiday we had.

Planet Pub - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mike G

A great selection of drinks at average prices, with really efficent and extremely friendly and helpful staff.  We've only just got back and being so late in the season I think the bar's lost a fair bit of its usual atmosphere but the music was great, and the bar showed all the cricket and footy.  Thanks alot guys

Fiorentino - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mike G  (14 September 2005)

Id certainly agree with the last comment posted:  You'd be a fool not to visit this restaurant whilst in Tsillivi!

It was possibly the cheapest meal we ate all holiday, and it was certainly the best.  Garlic prawns followed by lamb in the oven was exquisite whilst the steak that my g/f had was fantastic also.

The staff are very friendly and will accomodate any requests that you have, and I would not only recommend this restaurant, but would say its defoinately well worth any short wait that you may incur.
