Anybody who is going to Zante absolutely must go on the Zakfari. I went on September 9th 2005 and had a great time. The weather was lovely throughout and Paul our guide was very knowledgable and extremly funny with it. The off road driving throws you about a bit, but it’s all part of the fun. You get to see so much of the island you wouldn't normally be able to get to and even go for a swim on a secluded beach at the end. Our convoy were named the "Rare Second Cave" lot as some of us swam out to see the Devils Mouth Cave and then went on to go into the second cave which was freezing cold but quite amazing, it had to be my bravest and favourite part of the day. I would highly recommend this trip to people, you get to know everybody else who's on the trip with you and all have a fab time. Great Fun! Alison from Saffron Walden.
The Levante Speedboat Trip is very good. I would highly recommend this over booking on a large boat as you will miss out on going into the blue caves and if your lucky you might get a turn at driving the speedboat yourself! Definately worthwhile. We visited the shipwreck quite early in the morning and it was lovely because we were the only people there at this time. The trip leaves from Tsilivi and we went there the day before to book up. There is no kiosk though, so you need to look out for the Levante Staff strolling along the beach getting bookings. You can spot them by the T-Shirts they wear. A great excursion to go on.
If your staying in Argassi, a great meal out is going to Target. We went on a Thursday when they do BBQs and got a free ride up to it and back when we'd finished, this was organised through our rep, but Target do this for all their customers. The BBQ cost us 14 euros each with drinks included which I think is good value for money. We had a greek salad starter with Tatziki and bread, which was more than enough to fill me up alone. We then had Kebabs straight off the BBQ, which were lovely. The only bad thing I would say about this restaurant was that the kebabs were served with chips as opposed to rice and unfortunately this is generally the case wherever you eat in Zante, looks like us Brits have influenced the food a bit too much, as I would have much preferred the more cultural choice of rice. The views are spectacular and make it worth the trip up there. The waiters/waitresses put on some Greek dancing for entertainment - but be warned you will be asked to join in! I would really recommend this place for a night out.
I stayed at the Dora Aprtments from 6th - 13th September 2005. I would thouroughly recommend them to anyone wanting to stay in Argassi. I found them to be very clean and tidy and not too small, you could comfortably sleep 4 if required. There is a balcony for most rooms and the pool is of a reasonable size and kept very clean. The Bar serves breakfasts and snacks which are reasonably priced as are the drinks. My only complaint I have about the place is that the Bar is open till 1am which is great when your having a late one but when you have to get up early for excursions as we did twice it can get a bit much for light sleepers like myself. This aside it's a great place to stay with a very central locationto the town.
