Not sure what they are trying to acheive here. Beautiful contemorary furnishings, humidor, cases of wines along the walls, and the only place in town with air-conditioning. The experience was quite different. Aircon was underperforming so we were locked indoors with no air, food was either fantastic or rubbish depending on what we ordered, service was a JOKE - we could not even get a wine list - we were offered "red, white or rose". It took the barman three attempts to get me a vodka martini. Do not be fooled by the appearance - expensive night out and a waste of time.
Ate here quite frequently for lunch. Service was relaxed friendly and efficient. Everything we ate was good, but the gyros at 2 euros were superb value. No-one minds how long you sit there. Truly Greek. Toilets were clean too!
Wow. Ended up here at 8pm after a late finish on the beach. All sorts of people - some locals some tourists, some dressed up some still damp from the beach. Everyone gets a good welcome and a great meal.
What a disappointment! This was our first stop when we arrived in Alykes - traditional taverna right on the beach. Don't know when I was last ignored with quite so much beligerence! A relaxed lunch turned into a battle to get any kind of service at all. Dreadful!
Only ate here because our horse and carriage ride from Alykes was free on that condition. A little reticent when we entered as there were not many people there (but then most of the restaurants were under half full). The food however was GORGEOUS. It is unlike other Greek restaurants as everything here is home made (when did you last get home made taramasalata??). The owner is a lovely friendly guy who makes everyone feel welcome. If you want excursions - book through his company Dionossos tours in Alykanas and Alykes. Their prices are the same as everyone else, but you get lovely comfortable trips, well-timed and basically the best experience you could wish for.
Comfortable, clean, well-presented establishment. Happy staff, great coffee, best place to relax during siesta time.
Unlike most people who have made comments here, we are not "party people" - family with young daughter. BUT loved the Jungle bar. Great for a drink when coming off the beach - Luke is nice to everyone - not just the tottie!
You MUST do the train ride on your first week, because :
Appalling. Miserable service and mediocre food - Thousand Island dressing on the salad??? What's that all about??
The only place in town to be open for lunch on St Dennis' day. Service was VERY slow, and the waitress couldn't seem to care less. When the food came however, it was fresh, beautifully presented and well-priced. Would like to have tried this place again, but couldn't afford the time!
Lovely friendly place on the edge of town, so is nice and quiet. Two things marred our experience - the "Pool Rules" were not enforced, which meant that our quiet breakfast times were interrupted by children playing in the pool before it was open ; and our apartment was not cleaned properly - especially the kitchen. Oh and the cleaner kept leaving our door unlocked, thus invalidating our insurance. Apart from that, it was good value for money.
