Panorama Studios - (Accommodation in Alykes)

Norma N          10/10

We didn't even stay at the Panorama (we stayed at Argiros which was just adjacent - see other entry for review) but we got such a warm welcome and had such a good time at the Panorama we felt we had to write a comment. We were there at the end of the season when the bar was very quiet and we lovely chats and company from the family - Mavra & Nikki looked after us every night, even ordering us pizza on the phone from a local restaurant whose takeaway menu was in Greek. There is a short walk into the resort centre and we liked this as it was nice to be just out of the way and walk off the huge portions of delicious Greek homemade food when we ate out!  If you want somewhere with a warm welcome, genuine friendly people and great beer the Panorama is the place to go!

We had an absolute hoot staying here! If you want fancy facilities and military precision service this is not the place for you - but if you want to have a great experience and loads of stories to tell the folks back home, do try! It's simple & basic but we had one of the best holidays ever!

The owner Mr Argiros is a real character - lots of opinions & will keep you chatting for ages. Don't leave your lights on as he is very energy conscious, and will seek you out! He offered us some of his chickens eggs! There were an elderly couple in the apartment next to us and he even gave them a lift to the airport.
There is nowhere in the description to say that security boxes are available, but in case you are worried they are.

We used the pool and bar at the Panorama opposite, which was great, run by a lovely Greek family (we even wrote a comment about it, we loved it so much). I imagine that the standard of appartment there would be much higher, but we didn't pay very much for Argiros so we knew what we would get. There is no air con - you can hire a fan, but Mr Argiros told us to open the windows! There are anti-mosquito plug ins and screens, but we got bitten quite a lot on our 1st night (it was mid Sept, don't know if that made a difference) so grab yourself some citronella spray from the supermarket (once again, lovely friendly people) when you arrive just to be sure.

The appartments are a short walk from the centre and you walk through amazing spooky salt flats (only a couple of minutes). The resort itself is compact, the beach is beautiful - and everywhere you go people are sincere & friendly.

For what we paid, you couldn't seriously expect more for facilities, but we got more enjoyment than we ever imagined - that's why we gave Argiros a 10!
