Nice clean friendly Bed and Breakfast JMC hotel. Main pool and kiddies pool. Hotel is located about 10 mins slow walk from the beach and coast road. Have stayed there 3 times so far ! Guest's return to this hotel. Beach is not much but plenty of better beaches at Laganas, Kalamaki and Tsilivi by car taxi or bike. Staff at reception very friendy / helpful as are both "Odi" (at Pool Bar)and "Spyros" (at the evening hotel bar) both very nice people and mention my name "Chris" to them both. "Odi" will tell you the best bars and clubs locally and in nearby Laganas. "Spyros" will tell you the best places to eat out in the evening. Boat trips and water sports available. Boat trip to "the wreck" is worth a mention as is the boat trip to Kefalonia. The "Target" (top of the hill) is very good Greek night out... good value, fixed price and drink as much wine as you can ! superb view of resort from here at night. Have a nice time.
Hi Robert re Contessa hotel It is essential that you book your extra day for a room on arrival or there abouts with reception. Been through this senario, lot of people trying to do the same as you. They are most accomodating. I'm in Argassi just after you from the 16th to 30th. Have a nice time Chris Blackmur
Hi Linzi...."The Target" on the top of the hill in Argassi is a good Greek night out. Long steep hill climb but free cab ride available. Fixed price (last year was around a tenner) Meal plus as much wine as you can drink plus you'll have no choice but to Greek dance ! Lovely view of Argassi from here. Good time was had by all. Chris Blackmur
Fab small and friendly bar along the front road. Ken, Jude and the boy's are really, really nice people. You'll never stop laughing here. Elvis may even turn up! Ken will wear his wig and glasses if you ask him nicely. Cocktails are so strong and really good value, service is mega fast. You must try the triple shots (if you are brave enough.) A crowd of us spent nearly every night there on a two week holiday. Closing time is ....well when you've had enough ! Have fun ! Chris B
Oh dear ... used it twice, transfers were painfully slow. Was wondering if half the island were sharing the ISDN 128K link on a network ! Perhaps it was just a bad time when I used it. I was only trying to recover and send a few email via my own ISP web mail in UK. Didn't use Hotmail. PC's seemed OK.
Good trip and day out but a bit long winded 9am to 6pm. Normally two "swim" stops plus a landing stop on the shipwreck beach. Book the trip in excursion shops along the front as it is nearly half the price of that when booked via JMC, Airtours etc. If there's few of you try doing a deal! Take your own lunch as it's very over priced on the boat. drink prices not too bad. All in all, a fair day out (at excursion shop price)
Just returned from Argassi holiday and did the Greek night at "the Target" again! Really good night out, friendly staff, a meal and much wine and dancing. Free taxi ride up the hill to the venue. You can walk (or fall) back later. No need to book free taxi, just wait at the bottom of the hill across the road from The Contessa Hotel to be picked up.
Banks (hole in wall machines) in Solomos Square Zante Town take all normal debit cards and credit cards. On screen menu can be selected easily in English. If you need personal banking service (in the bank) take your passport as well for I.D. and go it in the morning as they close in the afternoon. There are no banks or machines in Argassi, but most shops and tavernas take "cards" as payment. A few shops will give cash against cards but charge around 8% sevice charge. But by the time you have paid taxi fare return to Zante town, may be worth while if you are desperate for cash!
Chemist is along main beach road towards petrol garage and Mouse House internet cafe. Most helpful and sometimes a doctor can be found sitting in the shop. Caters for most problems and advice.
