Hello all - Here is the bookimg info for this summer. Zakfari will be available directly through JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Argo, Direct Holidays, Golden Sun, Apollo and Solos. You can also book through our agents Tsilivi Travel (Tsilivi), Kappa Corfu (Laganas), and Flocas Travel (Alikes/Alykanas, Ammhoudi, Tsilivi, Laganas). Those of you staying in Argasi and Kalamaki can call either Kappa Corfu (0695053461) or Tsilivi Travel (0695044194) who can arrange a booking or you. If you are not with any of the above mentioned tour operators (eg, Thomson or Airtours) you can still book through a representative of one of the other companies. Once again, i have to stress, do not accept any imitations in sardine tins!!! Your ticket must say 'Zakfari' on it, and you will be picked up only by a 'Zakfari' Vehicle. Any other info can be asked for at info@zakfari.com. See you all in the summer!!!

Hello everyoe. Thanks for your comments on the tour so far, they are much appreciated. A special mention to anyone on the 3 flats day. You had to put up with a lot of irregularities that day, with flat tyres galore, and no shows in the morning. You were a great bunch of people, and came through it all smiling, which helped me immensely. Thanks for your good humour, and i hope you all enjoyed thr day.

Derek - Unfortunately this is high season, and we are full a long way in advance. Try calling Frances at Tsilivi Travel on 0695044194 for late availability seats. If you get this today, then there may be seats available on thursday 8th, or 15th, but only confirmed the evening before the trip. Sorry you can't get a confirmed seat with Jmc, but we are very popular at this time of year!!!

Joanne - the 'jeeps' seat 13 people each, and the price is 50 euros for adults with kids under 12 half price. The tour goes every day and leaves Tsilivi at 8.45am and returns between 5 and 5.30 pm. Hello everybody. Thanks to everyone involved with Zakfari this summer, the staff, the tour companies and reps, the agents, and most of all, the guests who came on the tour this year.

Due to expansion next year we have opportunities for drivers to work from next summer on Zakynthos. If you have a clean PSV licence (D or D1), are sociable, good humoured, and can work in a team, then mail me at info@zakfari.com for further details. If you think you are perfect for the tour, but do not have the proper professional PSV licence, then tell me why you would be suitable in a brief mail, and we can sponsor your PSV test for you!

Mark - Village you need is called 'Anafonitria' and shop is 50 yds past tree in middle of road.

Zakfari will be running from mid May this year and will go on every day. Which days are allocated to which tour companies i am not sure yet but will know this after first week in April. 'Discount' ?!?? Not sure what this word means!!!!!

Mark - Contact Frances at the end of April to book. I will be on Zak first week in April to finalise days with tour companies etc snd also with Frances. See you in May

John / Jane - tours are due to start on 15th May this season, however if you contact Frances at Tsilivi Travel, i may be able to get you on a pre season tour that week.
In any case, contact Frances to book at any time throughout the season.

Jane - Pick up in Tsilivi at 8.45am, drop off about 4.30 - 5.00 pm. It is 50 Euros per adult. Your best bet is to contact Tsilivi Travel in resort who can let you know if i have a tour going that week.

Superb half day out with Spiros, who is great fun on the boat. Shipwreck beach is not that great with stones under foot, so Spiros stays just long enough to inspect the old wreck, then we swam at the amazing 'blue lagoon' in the next bay.
After this, a visit to all the blue caves and arches, lunch at a beatifully located restaurant in Mikronissi, and finally another swim on the way back to Tsilivi.
By far the best way to get to the wreck. Just do it!

For Gerry and everyone else - Platform and surrounding buildings are built on church land, but not owned by church. Legal battle is ongoing as to use of buildings on this land. Platform was erected by owner of closed restaurant there, but has no official loading / stress figures (basically just knocked up locally so coach companies would stop at restaurant). Sign with 3 people maximum was put there by a coach tour guide to try to control numbers on platform.
Nobody knows how safe it is, or how long it will last, walls next to it though have fallen away!
Decent half view of wreck beach though for those who dont want to walk to better viewpoint.

Neil - Its a bit late in the season for turtle spotting, but there should still be some around. Before you book any turtle spotting tour, go to Cameo Island across the bridge from Laganas harbour. From the cafe / bar there you get a great view across Laganas bay and should see some turtles in the shallows next the island. Best of all...its free!

If this fails, then book a glas bottom boat tour from one of the shops in Laganas and keep your fingers crossed!

Sandra - Just a follow up to your day on the tour and comments. All vehicles do carry a first aid kit on board. Was there something missing, or something that we didnt have on board. Please let me know, by email if you wish on info@zakfari.com. Thanks, and i'm glad you had a great day anyway.

Mary - Communist style graffiti is just that! Communist party regularly gets about 8 - 10% of vote in Greece.
Leanne - Debbie being here for a week probably meant she was concentrating on the driving rather than telling stories or jokes, as she was not too familiar with the route. Safety first! Debbie is now back till the end of the season, so as she gets more confident with the route etc., the jokes will follow. Glad you still had a good day out with us though.

Denise - The tour is the same rout every day unless bad weather causes minor changes. The price is 50 euro per adult, and 33 euro per child. Online booking discount of 5% available through www.tsilivi-travel.gr. We take you to see the smugglers wreck from the cliffs above which give you the fantastic view as seen in all brochures etc. Not from rusting platform, or beach.

Swings and roundabouts really. Should point out that platform is also on cliff edge so is also likely to disappear if cliff falls away in tremor! Platform is easy to get to, but only gives half the view. Walk gives full and better view, but is 10 minute walk on stony track.

Peter's Last Day......What a brilliant day we had on Zakfari. If you do nothing else on Zakynthos, you MUST do Zakfari. Don't go on the other three Jeep Safaris, use the originals, British owned, insured, operated, driven, and the only safari with a proper guide. We were lucky enough to have the English guide who lives full time on Zante, as well as Pete who was an absolute gentleman and excellent on/off road driver. We had great fun as Pete chucked the Land Rover about, sometimes fast, sometimes bumpy, yet always 100% safe and secure. From the minute he picked the four of us up he made us feel right at home, promised us an excellent experience and delivered all that and more. Like I said already, a top class driver and a gentleman all the way, very knowledgable and a pleasure to talk to. These Land Rovers are specially converted in the UK to seat 13 passengers and the driver. They have open cabs and backs, but with a cover for bad weather and a very substantial roll cage, as well as safety belts for all passengers. The other safaris use standard enclosed and open Land Rovers, and one uses old Toyota Land Cruisers, but there's nothing to beat using vehicles custom built for the job, and with V8 power for tricky situations!. The vehicles are driven home each year at end of season and fully refurbished for next season. So as well as being insured in both the UK and Zakynthos, they are also superbly maintained for our safety and security,,,very impressive. We covered virtually the whole island, going to places that no tour bus can go and learning lots about the sites, folklore, etc. The other drivers in our 4 vehicle convoy were Debbie, Spiros and Paul, the owner of the company. I'm going on a bit, but can't stress enough just how much my wife, myself and the kids, Danielle (12) and James (10) enjoyed the day, and just what excellent value it was too. A note that your reps will forget to tell you when you book, take a good strong pair of trainers or boots as you will walk on some rough terrain, take swim gear in the hot weather as there's a swim stop too, and take drinking water, preferably in a cool box as it get's dusty and hot. What ever you do, don't miss this, and hopefully Pete will come back for another season too! Hope you got home safely Pete, and all the best to all the team from the four of us.
