We have done this trip at least 5 times over the past 5 years. That platform does look a bit scary but have never fallen off yet. It is a really scary being this close to the edge of the cliff AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WENT TO SHIPWRECK IN OCT10,IT WAS THE LAST TRIP FOR THE SEASON SO THE BOAT WENT THE WHOLE WAY ROUND ZANTE WHICH WAS GOOD. THE VIEW AS WE ARRIVED INTO THE COVE WAS AMAZING AND THE WATER WAS SO CLEAR.THE PEBBLES ON THE SINKING SAND AS YOU STEPPED OFF THE BOAT WAS SORE AND HOT BUT SOON FORGOTTEN.TOOK LOTS OF PHOTOS AND THEN WENT INTO THE WATER FOR A SWIM,WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK SOME DAY AS IT WAS SO PEACEFUL AS WE WERE THE ONLY BOAT THEIR. ZANTES OWN LITTLE PARADISE
we went there on jeep safari, was awesome!
Visited shipwreck by boat a couple of years ago thought it was good but this year decided to drive up to it thought it was spectacular well worth the scary drive !! Would definatley recomend it .

This being our 5th visit to Zakynthos we thought it about time to see what all the fuss was about!!!! There was a fairly long queue to get on the platform, but once there the views from the platform are stunning .But "shipwreck", nah, "bit of rust on the beach" was my husbands comment The surrounding area is gorgeous, so it is worth a trip to see it if you're in the area. Just make sure you're not there as they disembark two coach loads of people!!!!
beautiful does this no justice and check out the beach itself, a bit sore on the feet but amazing, water as clear as a swimming pool. Just got back to England and wanna just get my snorkel kit and go straight back
Definatley the best place to see the shipwreck, can be a bit unnervrving going on the platform,
We hired a car for 3 days and this is one of the places we stopped. The views are AMAZING. We also went on a boat trip to the Blue Caves and the Ship Wreck. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We found it was much cheaper to go direct to the trip operators rather than book through your travel reps.
Viewed the ship wreck from above, via the road. We hired a bike for a few days to see a bit more of the Island. If you hire a bike or car get a map from the car rental firm . To get to the ship wreck you have to go through VOLIMES - nice little village with pottery and lace making - and head out for about two or three miles in the direction of ZAKYNTHOS . Once there you can appreciate the view better from above than going on the tours to the shipwreck beach. Went on the boat/ ferry trip to the beach but it isn't half as good as seeing it from above as you don't get all the view in!!! The ferry trip is very crowded, hot and with lots of people being sick as the sea was a little choppy the day we went. Plus you don't get very long when you're there. The GOLDEN DOLPHIN TOUR from ALYKES (NEXT TO THE ASTORIA HOTEL) can highly recommend. Pay 30 Euros to do the Blue Caves & Ship wreck or 15 Euros just for the caves ( just did the blue caves though) Transported in a speedboat that holds around ten people. Arrives at the blue caves much quicker than the ferries , plus you can accutally get to go right inside the caves in the boat, whereeas the larger boats are too big for this. The other really good thing is that the speedboat anchours near the caves and allows a twenty minute stop for a swim in the sea. Highly enjoyable, well worth the money and lasts for around 2 hours which is perfect for just seeing the caves close up and swimming in the torquiose water
We didnt go to the viewing platform but went to the actual beach on a small boat from Alykes beach. They sell trips right at the beachfront in Alykes and the boat only holds around 16 people. The day we went there were only 12 in all so it was nice and quiet and not too squashed. The bloke even gave us a discount so we paid 40 Euros for 2 people to go to the shipwreck and also to see the Blue caves. Soz, cant remember the regular price. Anyway, as you approach the beach, the water turns this amazing turquoise colour, it was wicked! I have never seen anything like it, we jumped off the boat into the surf and got to spend half an hour swimming and sunbathing. There isnt any sand but very small white pebbles so take good shoes! Wow, I would definately recommend going, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!
Great. Hired a car and drove there, got lost slightly but we made it. Well worth it.
Tricky to find but worth it. Got intersting when two coaches arrived to supplement the three large camper vans and lots of cars already there. We made a quick getaway to avoid the chaos.
was lovely to see it .didnt like the platform as looked very dodgy but went on for a second to see ship wreck was well worth it.
If you want to see the shipwreck from above, don't stand on the viewing platform!
Loved
this bit of the island. The boat trip is quite a nice adventure as you
wade from the gangplak onto the beach. (you will some decent footware
because it's not a sandy beach. The wade back onto the boat was
at chest height on account of the tide, so be prepared. It's a
good idea to take a picnic as prices on the boat are a bit mad.
The
water in the bay is crystal clear, as you would expect and to see the
wreck from the beach looking up to the tiny people on the viewing
platform is a nice contrast for when you're on the viewing platform
looking down.
YOU CAN'T GO TO ZANTE AND NOT VISIT THIS PLACE AS THE VIEWS ARE JUST STUNNING AND BREATH TAKING { AND THATS JUST LOOKING DOWN}. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED AS THIS YEAR WE DECIDED TO HIRE A CAR AND LOOK AT THE WRECK FROM THE PLATFORM. A LITTLE HARD TO FIND AS ALL THE SIGNS SEEM TO LEAD TO DEADENDS WHERE THEY JUST HAPPENS TO BE A CAFE AND A COUPLE OF STALLS, THINK THE GREEKS WERE PLAYING A FEW GAMES OF HIDE THE ROAD SIGN. BUT WAS GLAD OF REFRESHMENT. PLEASE DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE VIEWS FROM THE PLATFORM , GO FURTHER ROUND THE CLIFF BUT BE CAREFULL. AND I PROMISE YOU IT WILL BE WORTH IT. EVEN MY 7 YEAR OLD THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT. OH AND PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR CAMERA AND DON'T LEAVE IT IN THE HOTEL ROOM LIKE WE DID. HOW GUTTED WERE WE.... NEVER MIND,,,,, AS IT WAS WORTH THE DRIVE
