Just returned on sunday, after a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Our family consisted of my husband, three daughters 16, 14 and 7. We were in room 221 at the front, second floor. The view more than made up for the lack of balcony space and kitchen facilities!! it was excellent. We had to use a saucepan for boiling water for coffee so if you want to make drinks and would prefer to use a kettle, bring your own! however, the close proximety of the supermarket and maestros restaurant means that you do not need kitchen facilities. Our apartment was a two bedroomed and was plenty large enough just for sleeping and showering. Aghios sostis itself is a very pretty and quaint typical greek village. All of the shop keepers, waiters, locals were very friendly towards us. The only trip we went on was a cruise around the island with spring tours which is just up the road. I think the trip was excellent value for money as we saw all of the sights, ie smugglers cove, the blue caves, the keri caves etc, and even caught sight of a turtle at the end of the day! We had three swimming stops and you could buy meals and drinks on board, all of this for 15 euros. If you want clubs, shops loud music etc you will have to go to Laganas, either by taxi which will cost 7 euros or walk along the cliffs ( best done wearing trainers ) not bare feet or flipflops, like we did! Every saturday maestros is a good place to be because they have their greek night, book a table a couple of days before as it gets very busy, but dont bother to get there at 7:30 as it doesn't start until 9:00, and dont expect to be served as "fast" as normal!!! The swimming pool at the back of the complex was more suitable for small children because it had a shallow end. Finally the airport!! Make sure you have plenty of water and sun cream on the return journey ( and loads and loads of patience!!!!!!!) We cant wait to go back next year.
we ate here all the time for 2 weeks. Staff couldnt be more helpful, hello to George, Paris, and Vangelis!!!!.We have booked to return next year.
How great is this place?. We are booked to return next year. Cant wait!See you all again, same time same place.!!!!!!!
In reply to Tina Cookes comments, yes the Arkadianos Apartments ARE
featured in next years JMC brochure, on page 242. I know, because we have booked to go again next year, and cant wait.!!!
Hi, this is a message for Jillian Malean. I have found a phone number for the Arkadianos apts, (26950)52578,52875. I dont know how up to date these numbers are, but I hope it helps. We also went this year, and have booked again for next year, 'cos we love it there!. Perhaps you could let me know if the numbers are still correct, as I will need to phone nearer the time. Many thanks.
Hi Louise Morton, Arkadianos apts, are featured in Sunset brochure, which is part of Thomas Cook, they have taken over from JMC, who featured it last year.
Hi Wendy, its best if you take sterling/euro travellers cheques, or cash, as the nearest cash point is in Laganas, which is a 7 euro taxi ride away, and it would be a pain to have to go there everytime you want some cash. You can change travellers cheques at reception, and you can pay by card at the resteraunt for meals.
Hope you enjoy yourselves, we're going back in 8 weeks time, and I can't wait.
Hi, can anyone tell me what the weather is actually like at the moment, is it warming up yet?.If it is only 19 degrees, then it is not baking on the beach kind of weather!!.
Cheers.!
Hi Louise, yes these apartments do supply towels for the shower, I cant remember how often they are changed, I think Its evey couple of days. Hope you have a great time.
Hi Andrea, we went to the apartments last year, and are returning again on the 4th July. The big pool at the back is more suitable for children, as it has a shallow end, the one at the front doesn't.They do run a kids club, although I dont use it as my children are teenagers, apart from that, I dont think there is actually much for young children entertainment wise. But the beach is about the safest it could be , because you have to go out a long way before the water gets deep. If you want clubs and bars, and shops, then go into Laganas, which is about 10 minutes in a taxi, or you could walk over the cliff way,(make sure you wear trainers or something similar), this takes about half hour. Hope this helps, if you want to know anything else, feel free to email me, steph.hayter@ntlworld.com. Hope you have a good time. I cant wait to go again.
Hi Clive, air con is 5 euros per unit, per day, so if you have a larger apartment it works out rather expensive. But when it is hot, it really is worth having. Have a great hol.
This is for Rebecca Scott, Me and my family have just returned today from Arkadianos, for the second year running, and may go back again in October. You could not ask for anything better situated than these apartments. Yes they are basic, but if you eat out then this doesn't matter. The view from Maestros is breathtaking. The beach is narrow, but rarely gets so busy that you can't find a sunbed, and it is cleaned daily. If you want noise in the form of clubs/bars/ shops etc, then Laganas is only a 15 mins walk away, or 8 euros in a taxi.Everyone, from shop keepers to hotel and resteraunt staff are all so friendly and helpful. You will have a great time, wish we were back already!!Hope this helps.
Great resteraunt, great staff breathtaking views, enough said.!!!
Love it, Love it.
Yipee, we're returning in October.
This is for Laura Thompson (travel agent). Yes you can usually arrange for a late check out room, subject to availability, you arrange and pay this locally. I have the email address:info@arkadianos.com. Hope this helps.
Our tickets arrived today,......yipee....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to Tsilivi 24th-31st October.Weather during the day was hot,we only had to skip the beach for one day in the week, because it wasn't sunny.Night time was comfortable to sleep, and the evenings only required a hoody or similar, as it did get a bit nippy.!!
Hazel SUNSET Holidays which is part of the Thomas Cook group, is the only holiday company which feature the Arkadianos.
Eadaoin, I went in the last week of the season in October, and everything was closing down, but from what I saw, there are plenty of bars/resteraunts, I'm not sure about clubs though, I would say Laganas is more of a resort for teens/younger people if you want full on night life. Hope this helps.
This is for Georgina. Tsilive Admirals I would say is for everyone, maybe just a bit more geared to families. We took a taxi to Laganas, and it cost about 20 Euros, and took us about 25mins to get there.
Helen, if you look just above where you wrote your comment, you will see a picture option. The pics in there are up to date, ie last year.
Darren, Planos beach/bay apartments are right across the road from each other,I cant comment on the kids clubs though as I have never used them.
Andy, "oh Yeah"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hurray!!!!Their back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy, suddenly, I dont like you any more.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trouble is, you can't please all the people all the time, we're off to spain in a few days, and I'm sure we'll have a good time, holidays are what you make them, as Andy says, but I'm sooooo wishing I was returning to Ag Sos, as we who know fondly call it.!!!!! Still theres always next year. Hope you all enjoy your hols.
Next door to Arkadianos, so the position etc is exactly the same. Can't really comment much, because we spent all our time proping up the breezer bar next door, or sitting in Maestros resteraunt.!! But I can say that the room we had was plenty big enough for the 2 of us. Wasn't very impressed with the emptying (or should I say lack of) the bathroom bin, it should have been done every day. But apart from this, I cannot comment further. However, if next time we visit, and the arkadianos is full, then I would stay here again.
Came home on Sunday, missing this place like mad already, Hi to everyone who knows us , 'Mama and Emma,!!!!!! Thanks to Eri for making our hols such good fun, hope you are still being a 'good boy today'!!! Don't know what our plans are for next year yet, as Emma is very interested in working in Zante, so we just have to see what happens, but hopefully we will return at some time.
Hi Clare Thomas, me and my daughter were here in October last year for the last week of the season. The days were plenty hot enough to spend on the beach, although much shorter than in the summer months. The evenings were a bit nippy, you need to take a sweatshirt type top or similar. Hope this helps, have a great time, we've just returned from our 4th time in Zante.
Well said Vicki. The fact that there are so many regular return visitors to these apartments speaks for its self, we can't all be wrong!! People that just have to find something to whinge about on their holidays should just stay at home and not bother to go anywhere.!
Emma, me and my daughter went last October, it is still hot enough to sit on the beach all day, it does get a bit chilly in the evenings, but only enough for a hoody, or similar, so September will be even warmer. Have a great time.
Hi to Erion, and Mental Menthol !! Just wanted to say good luck for the new season this year. I'm sorry that we will not be coming to Zante this year, we are going to Cyprus, for a change, but maybe next year. best wishes to you all, from MAMA, (and Emma says Hello)xx
Justine, last july it was about 20 euros, and took about 20mins. It was a little hairaising, so be warned.!!!!
.Hi Joanne, you dont know me, but I was a regular at one time.!! Didn't go to Zante this year, went to Cyprus, for a change. We have booked for next year, but thought we'd have a change and are going to Tsilivi. We will defo go and visit our friends at Ag Sos, (those that still remain)!!! I do still check this site from time to time, at least I have got a reason to again now.!!!Only about 10months to go now.!!!!
Tony, maybe you should do what we are doing, and stay elsewhere, and just visit. Then you have the best of both worlds, visit more often or less often, depending on who's there or not.!!!!
