Superior Biscuit Day (21.06.2005).
The Zakfari was absolutely fantastic: The highlight of our holiday (especially as we were staying in Amoudi, where there is nothing to do!). Paul was our driver, and he really knows his stuff, except that he supports Luton! (Easy 6 points for the Owls next season!). Zakfari is definitely worth doing and we'll recommend it to anyone who goes to Zante in future, but I'd advise you girlies to take a hair brush as I looked like Worzel Gummage afterwards with my hair full of dust!We visited Amoudi for 2 weeks, between 12 and 26 June 2005.
The people are all really friendly and it's a really beautiful resort, but I'm afraid that's about it. There just isn't anything to do in the resort itself, and nightlife is almost non-existent. There are only 2 bars in Amoudi itself, and both are very quiet. A couple of times, we went down to Alykanas for a night out. Andreas at the Clear Horizon Hotel was happy to order us a taxi to take us there, which was very nice of him, but we couldn't get one back from Alykanas to Amoudi, and were forced to do the 30 minute walk in the dark, drunk, and with no comfy shoes! We tried the "Fish and Grill" taverna one night (the rep said it was nice), but they said we couldn't have souvlaki because it would take too long for the grill to warm up....a grill restaurant with no grilled food! We had to have meatballs in grease instead. We did the Olympia trip on 18 June 2005.
We didn't stay in the Clear Horizon Hotel, but we did go in a few times for something to eat and a few drinks, and I just wanted to say that Andreas and all the people who work there are really, really friendly.
Visited Amoudi between 12 and 26 June 2005, staying in the Kozanos Hotel across from the Camelot bar.
Rooms are basic and you don't get much to self-cater with: take a kettle, and a bottle opener if you're going to need one! Get all the mosquito repellent you can get your hands on - they are really evil. I had one very illusive one terrorising me for 2 days. Now whenever I hear anything that sounds like NEEEEEE I get very frightened! We only went to the Neraida once, as we wanted to try as many places as we could, but it beat all the other places hands down.
Great selection of food, and the meals were a good quantity, great quality and very reasonable price. We got a free plate of watermelon and a half kilo of wine! If we ever go back to Zante, we'll definitely eat at Naraida more often. We were staying in Amoudi, so we only went to Tom's Place once.
Having walked down from Amoudi, through Alykanas, we were starving and very thirsty. We both had a full English breakfast, which is served with juice, toast and a big mug of coffee. Then the main meal came . . . WOW! MASSIVE plate full of excellently cooked food (and we didn't even have to choose between beans and tomatoes - you get both!). You may think that it seems a bit more expensive for the breakfast here, at 5.50 euros but for what you get, and the quality of it, it's definitely worth it. THE BEST BREAKFAST ON THE ISLAND (and better than most you get in cafes back in England too). Top class.
