Tourist train - where do I get it from (I'm staying in Alikanas). Where do I book? how much is just the train? How much is the greek night? How does it link to the Greek night people have mentioned -do you book the train separately or is there a day a week, for example, when you can do the train AND the greek night? Sounds like a good excursion! Thanks for any info anyone can give me.
These are great apartments! The location is unbeatable for the beach and also the tavernas. The apartments are kept spotless and you can also pay for air-con - a blessing!
We really really liked this taverna (why does it have 4/10 on the main bit? I'm confused?!). The service is very gentle and friendly, the food is yummy (we had saganaki, a chicken and a pork dish and tuna salad, tiramisu etc on various different nights) and the prices were particularly pleasing!
Fairly nice taverna - good fish.
I ordered a mixed souvlaki here and got a pork one instead which was inedible. It was all gristle and swimming in fat. To be fair, my boyfriend enjoyed his meal and the service was good. Bit off the beaten track but peaceful for it.
An ok taverna. I thought the doormen were probably one of the pushiest in the midst of town but still OK. The food was fine, nothing particularly memorable.
Friendly service, good quality food (a lovely chicken souvlaki here - the best I had in Alykanas) and a relaxed but still quite 'buzzy' vibe. Definitely try it out.
Sorry forgot to rate it!
Although not a particularly memorable taverna, the food was good and plentiful. I didn't 'warm' to the taverna's in the midst of the 'strip' so I'm probably a bit biased - if this taverna had been in a more quiet spot, I'd probably have really liked it. I'd eat there again (my fella liked the huge steak he had there)
My favourite! Such a romantic, tranquil and really very pretty setting. The food was utterly scrumptious on the several occasions we ate there. Got very busy but the service still attempted to keep up. I had the sardines which were really good. Oh and the shrimp cocktail to start was lovely because they were fresh prawns (unlike the defrosted ones in many of the other tavernas).
Quite unsure about this one - I agree with the comment a couple below this one - it seemed to have a quite an odd atmosphere. The food was really quite average, in fact I'd have preferred to eat at another Greek taverna (it was the smell that got me as I walked past! The food didn't live up to its smell and was misordered so we had to wait). We ate from the chinese menu which was ok, but seemed to taste quite 'processed'. local wine here was bit ferral too.
This is a lovely beach - the sand is really soft. The sea is so shallow and beautifully clear! There's a good range of water sporty/activities like pedoloes with slides and jet ski's etc which seemed reasonably priced. Summer 06 - 2 beds and a parasol cost 7 Euros.
We booked to visit Marie's farm (via Tony at Dionisus - v. helpful. Cost 20 Euros per hour and Marie will collect you and drop you back - not inc in the hour's ride).
I guess you have to visit the shipwreck, right? Was an OK excursion, but felt very very long and I just wanted to get back by the end of it. Was average I'd say - wasn't particularly impressed by the blue caves (ones in Kefalonia are much better!).
Hi - we want to go to The White House Studios in Alykanas but can't book as although in the First Choice brochures, there seems to be a problem with contracts.
Hi - I'm still trying to book the White House Studios to no avail! First Choice rang Head Office who said they were still on 'stop sale'. However, another agent called me today to say they seem to be available one day but not the next. Can't find them on website either. Nightmare! Can anyone recommend anywhere similar in Alykanas that's near the beach, nice and cheap?!
