ohhhhh i miss gorge the bar man! hope ur still playing my cd gorge! c u next year
love helen x
We got back from Louros Beach last week. It was really nice, very clean with lovely gardens. Only 1 minute walk to the beach, and about 5 minutes to the town, so excellent location. The noise from the airport is bearable and does not ruin your stay, although the rooms could have been bigger, and we did resent having to pay extra for the fridge!! The pool bar is also very good and does lovely Greek salads and omelettes at a reasonable price. Will definitely be returning.
Can anyone tell me how far the Louros Beach is from the resort centre and is it near the beach.
Thanks
07.06.04 JUST GOT BACK FROM THE LOUROS BEACH HOTEL, STAYED FROM THE 18TH MAY 04 TILL THE 1ST OF JUNE. HAD THE BEST TIME. ZANTE JUST GETS BETTER & BETTER. EVERYONE FRIENDLY & HELPFUL ALL THE TIME. LISA THE DOG IS LOVELY & LIKES ANYONE TO BRING HER BACK STEAK FROM ANY RESTAURANT. CANT FAULT THE HOTEL AT ALL. OUR ROOMS OVERLOOKED THE SEA & WE HAD A PROPER CUBICLE TO SHOWER IN. FOOD & DRINKS FROM THE POOL BAR WERE FIRST CLASS. GEORGE & GOGO WERE LOVELY. THE NOISE FROM AIRCRAFTS ARE MINIMAL & WILL DEFINATELY NOT SPOIL YOUR STAY IN THE HOTEL. I HOPE EVERYONE HAS AS GOOD A HOLIDAY AS WE HAD.
I am looking to go to the Louros Beach the 1st 2 weeks of july, I am worried about how noisy the aircraft are and how near they are as I am a very light sleeper. Also are the plenty of place to eat around the area.
As we had a terrible holiday last year i dont want to make the same mistake this year.
Please help.
Thanks
Debbie.
Visited the Louros during the last 2 weeks in July 2003 with my wife and 3 teenage daughters. We booked two rooms direct with the hotel and flew with Air 2000 which was fine. We got of to a good start when the taxi driver told us we were in one of the best hotels in Kalamaki.
Hotel is in beautiful gardens with an excellent deep pool which was immaculate.Although the rooms were basic the air conditioning was good.Great snack bar with a chilled out atmosphere with cheap good draught beer and daily special cocktails.Access to the beach is easy down the roads from the hotel but it is at one end of the strip making a good 10 minute walk to bars and shops.Car hire is a must and we arranged it with hotel reception.Majority of staff were all related making it a true family type operation.Entertainment was better than anything nearby and many came from nearby hotels all of which were no where near as good as the louros which was confirmed by speaking to various people at the bar.Our bedroom looked onto the flight path but we were never bothered by the planes nor was it a problem during the day more of a novelty.
We saved approx £300 by organising this ourselves and had the luxury of escaping the hellish airport by taxi and of arriving back before the masses on departure.
Just returned from Louros beach hotel,
been coming to this hotel since 1991 the year it opened, it was not even in the brochure when we booked so took a chance and could not have picked a better hotel, i can honestly say the aircraft noise is not a problem , as previously mentioned the planes do not go in the night.
Nicos and his staff will make you feel very welcome here, it is a lovely unspoilt hotel, with lovely staff.
We had not been for a couple of years and although a few more rooms have been built on ,still as good as ever.
The hotel itself is lovely. The gardens are extremely well maintained and very pretty. The staff are very friendly and helpful. BUT the hotel is on the flight path for the airport and if you don't mind being woken at 5.00am every day of your hard earned holiday by a VERY low flying aircraft then this hotel is definitely for you!
We stayed at Louros Beach when it first opened in 1989 and have stayed there every year since we are now made to feel like family. Nikos who is the owner is a great guy. The hotel is excellently run the staff are exceptional. It has a wonderful atmosphere. The breakfast and bar food are of a high quality. We would highly recommed the hotel.
Gemma,
There are no flights in after dark so aircraft noise is not a problem at night, however depending apon the time of day there is aircraft noise but then again dont let this put you off the Louros beach hotel the 3 out of 10 rating is totally misleading it should read 10 out of 10. (My opinion (and i dont have shares in the hotel either))
Wasn't staying in the hotel, but it was the nicest around the immeidate area and the pool was without doubt the cleanest. The bar was great, especially at night with a really chilled and relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. You should have a great time.
hi
my partner and i are travelling to kalamaki on the 7th oct03 i was just wondering if anyone can give me a recent review on the Lorous Beach Hotel. i am slighty worried about aircraft noise :( if anyone could also recommend bars/resturants i'd be really grateful.
I felt it necessary to add to Karen Olivers comments re the Louros Beach. We are a family of 6 who stayed at the Louros from 30/06/02 to 14/07/02.The hotel and rooms were immaculate, roomy and perfect for our family (1x4)&(1x2)beds.The swimming pool complete with bridge and spa bath was great. The staff were 1st class and could'nt do enough for you. We ate lunch at the snack bar every day with one exception, the food being freshly prepared to order by the one member of staff on duty, the preperation area and cooking area kept clean and spotless throughout. The flies around the bar area were no more of a problem than anywhere else you went (we ate out every evening). The milk shakes had a splash of bottled water added prior to whisking and the orange juice came straight from a carton (no added water). With 4 children countless milk shakes & orange juices were enjoyed.Neither did we encounter any problems with butter or marge. It must be said it is a snack bar not a restaurant. The 3 mangy dogs which seemed to frequent most of the local area hotels (one of which was a supposed pet of the owner) were no different to any dog which is fed titbits by a very high proportion of holiday makers. If people do feed them they will hang around. I must admit they do understand "go away" (Polite version).Having said this one dog in particular (RagTag) was adored by most. I dont understand what happened on Karens visit but i dont feel this is a true reflection on possibly the best small hotel in Kalamaki. ps Ive made no mention of the scabby cats which frequent the Amaryllis Aparthotel.
We were actually staying in the Amaryllis Aparthotel up the road from here (which is lovely!) but popped into the Louros once for breakfast as it is on the way to the beach... and it was dire! There were three mangy dogs, fighting and hanging around the pool/snack bar (they were pets of the hotel but looked like strays they were so skinny) and this on its own was enough to put you off your meal. The service was awful... after standing at the bar trying to place our order for 10 minutes, the waitress finally took our order with a scowl. When the food was ready, she just threw it on the counter and called, "breakfast" and the flies around the bar area meant you didn't want to leave your food in one place too long! Of course, the mangy dogs were now at your side, whimpering for scraps and chewing your shoelaces (off putting to say the least!). The milkshakes and orange juice have local tap water added to them, which does your stomach no good at all, and the butter/margarine was so off it was rancid. I had the "full english" breakfast... served on a saucer (well the plate was small). It stayed in my stomach for approx 10 minutes, before I threw up. Shame as the hotel itself looked ok (I could only see the pool - which was very empty) but I wouldn't eat at the Louros Beach again if you paid me.
we have stayed here 5 times now and it is a excellent hotel ,the staff are very friendly and it has a lovely peaceful atmosphere, would recomend this hotel you will not be dissapointed.
We stayed in the Marelen Hotel opposite which had no food after 6pm. The pool bar at the Louros serves a limited menu all day until late at night. The food we had (on 5 or 6 occassions) was excellent. The staff are friendly and so is the atmostphere. Compared to the Marelen Hotel this is an oasis.
We actually stayed at the Hotel Marelen (opposite) but occasionally wandered over to the Louros Beach Hotel. On our first night we had a snack meal and a couple of lunches on other days. The menu was limited but the food was very good. In the Marelen, the outside bar closed and the inside bar opened at 6.30pm) but this bar is open outside all day and with it's candles, strung canopies, and timber seats, has a much more intimate atmosphere. The bar prices were also very reasonable. If you are anywhere near the beach (about 200m away) give it a try.
