Hi Chris we meet last year down at the Angels Baryes you are right about the name of the shop hope Stavros and Vula have not seen it
Keep well Andy

Chris C

It`s Limnos I think (sorry Andy, not being picky mate!),and you`re quite right about the ATM! I think they also have a phone outside for your calls home. It`s just down from Mermaids

Andrew R

Just arrived back home from Kalamaki and thought I would let you know that this year there is a new cash machine next to the BEST little shop in town! LINDOS Supermarket, just up from Hermes car rentals, on the main strip. A big plus is - if you are hot and bothered you can cool down in the air con glass cash point. If you go in to the shop say hi to Vula & Stavros and Zena - this Greek island's only husky dog

Tim,on past experience, sterling cheques are best as no commission is charged but they tend to charge for euro traveller cheques for some reason. That's not to say that things might have changed this year, not going out till july but i'll be taking sterling.Hope this is of some help.

kalamaki is a fantastic village on zante and the person who said that it is the worst of english tourism must have stayed in his apartment throughout his holiday I have been visiting zante/kalamaki for a number of years and have never been disappointed except by some of the comments made by my fellow country men like when ordering his breakfast at cronulla stated full english and none of that foreign crap to the greek owner Dia. for those who wish to know where the cash machines are the closest to kalamaki are in laganas but i was told one was due to be built at the Tee junction in kalamaki. For those who want to know whether to take cash as well as euros, you tend to get a better exchange rate in the shops than at home we normally change money at the booze market or merlis shop.

yes there are cash machines all over the island in kalamaki and also laganas wich is just next to kalamaki and has cash machines all the way down the main street the exchange rate is about the same here as it is in the uk not a lot of difference but a few saving may be made by looking around

We're going to Kalamaki on 1st July - Can anyone tell me if it is better to take Sterling or Euro Travellers cheques?
Also, anyone stayed at the Bitzaro Palace recently, any tips?

Muchos Gracias

Chris C

change as much as you can IN KALAMAKI, you always get a better rate and I save £25 last year on a spend of £600 just by changing over there instead of here. Agreed, Sofias is the best rate by far, if Sofia is still there this year make sure you call in, best shop prices, lovely family!

Steve G

could anyone tell me if there are cash machines in or near kalamaki

Lara W

Can anyone tell me if there is a bank or cash machine in Kalamaki, if not where is the nearest one. Thanks Lara

Kay

Hi Garry.
We have just got back from Kalimaki and everyone was offering 1.42 or 1.43. No Commission. Hope this helps.

Garry R

We are going to zanti could any body tell us is it a better rate of exchange here or over there

Sandra M

Go to Sofia's supermarket for the best rates. They don't even ask to see your passport either.

Get probably the best rates around and pay no commission.

Keith D

Best rate we found was 1.41 at the supermarket about 100m along from the taxi rank on the Laganas road - next to Sugar Reef restaurant. That was in mid Sept. Rates vary a lot so shop around if you are changing a lot of cash!!
