Went out there from 1st August to 15th, Good clean hotel, - pretty basic rooms, but that's what you can expect from most places in Greece! The staff were all very friendly and the maid changed the linen every 2nd day but cleaned the rooms on a daily basis. Some Aircraft noise due to the proximity of the hotel (you can almost see the peoples faces in the windows of the plane as they fly past !!) Swimming pool was excellent, as was the poolside bar/cafe - they do some lovely food and very reasonable. A pint of Amstel for 2.5 Euros - most dishes around 3.5 to 5.5 Euros depending on what you want. Literally 2 minutes walk from the beach - oh yeh - there's a taverna right on the edge of the beach. I felt sorry for those people that stayed on the Island the week before us because they had some really bad weather (plus an earthquake I was told) - we experienced a small earth tremor, but not that bad really. Overall a really good hotel. Pity the area it is in is a bit of a distance to the Kalamaki bar/restaurant areas, but taxis should only cost you 4-5 Euros max to either Kalamaki or Laganas (the Blackpool of the Island !) Will be back !!!
Michael - this hotel is roughly 20 mins walk from the Antonis apartments. Coming out of those apartments, turn left upto the corner of the road (where the taxi rank is)then turn left again towards Laganas. Go past the Down under bar and Mermaids, continue until you get to the Artemis restaurant on a corner. Take a left there, follow the road round past the Amarylis Aparthotel and then do another left. The Kalamaki Beach hotel is around 150 yds on the left hand side. We walked that 2 or 3 times a day with a pushchair !!! - if you go, you'll like it I'm sure.
I'm told one of only 2 places where you can see a spectacular sunset - and it was !. The drinks were very reasonable. Watch out for the mosquitos though - little blighters dined on me as if it were going out of fashion. Dress rules require the wearing of a top for gents (as we found out one night) :)
I think Chris must have gone to the wrong bar by the sounds of it, - this place was superb - certainly no 12-13 yr olds getting drunk out of their skulls whilst we were there !. The guys were really entertaining, It was a pity we didn't stay later in the evening (due to 2 young children) - it looked as if it could have been a top night. We drank there most days - meeting up with some friends who stayed at the other end of Kalamaki. When i return to Zante (hopefully next year) I'll be back to visit you guys - what more can I say..... Tops ! - oh, and 3.5 Euros for Mythos - not bad either. (don't know about the Fosters - never drank it !!)
Good friendly bar and the drinks were reasonably priced. The quiz was good fun (even though we didn't actually take part) Went there a couple of times. Would go again !
Not bad, - certainly not the best in Kalamaki by any means, but the staff wre all friendly enough. Food was ok - perhaps could have been a little hotter guys !. Only ate their once (due to the number of other restaurants we wanted to try). The prices this end of Kalamaki are more expensive than in the older par (uptowards the Cave bar etc)- this was repeated across most of the restaurants this end of the resort.
Went twice during our stay there. The food portions are HUGE !!!. However I did cop for something dodgy i think the second time we went, because the following morning I was really ill (and it wasn't the drink either as I hadn't had too many !) Would definitely go back.
Went a couple of times to this restaurant - excellent food, and good friendly service. The waiters just simply couldn't do enough for us. Thanks for putting up with my 3 yr old whinging son !!! We'll be back I'm sure.
Food was fine - the pizza was excellent ! ideal if you just simply want a small snack whilst watching the antics of the Aussie llonies next door at the Down Under ! We would go again.
Went there for the Greek eveing one night. - had a really good evening's entertainment, and the food was superb (load of it too!). Overall a top night - one of the better one we had whilst we were in Zante.
Breathtaking view from the top of the hill. Watch out for biting things though - a friend of ours got bitten by "Something" - that something wasn't a mosquito !! and it sure looked painful. Well worth a visit on a good clear day, as you can see for miles.
This beach was excellent. The water was so shallow you could literally go out around 150 yds and you were still only upto your waist !. Really safe for kids. the sand (although a bit gritty in places) was brilliant. - our 3 yr old loved knocking down the sand castles I'd made for him !. Didn't see any turtles, but we'll be back perhaps next year so they won't escape us then !
