Argassi beach is virtually non existent, it is a shame to see what the developers have done to a potentially appealing seafront town.
The restaurant was clean, and the service was alright. However the food was totally overpriced and it ended up being the most expensive meal we had on the island. They charged us 43 Euros for the meal, and the wine was E7.50 which was just E2.99 in the supermarket next door. The portions were small, and most of the food was tepid when it arrived. The bill was not clear in terms of what you had, we felt ripped off.
We ate here twice in seven days, it was superb on both occasions. The lamb baked in the clay oven with lemon and garlic potatoes is to die for, especially with a bottle of the local red wine (Callinico)
We had a problem on our first visit, and had to walk out before being served. They remembered us when we walked past next evening, and went out of their way to apologize for the previous mix up. We had a very nice meal, and the service was good, so everybody was happy.
This was the highlight of our day. We went most evenings to make contact with our friends and family. The people there were very nice and helpful, especially Yianni who was delightful. They serve a great cup of coffee, and the Amstel beers come in a pre frozen glass, just to give that extra edge. The computer equipment is good, and access is easy for experts and novices alike.
This was the best pre dinner bar in Argassi we thought. The service was good, and the beers and wine were nice and cold.
The apartment block is set at the top of a fairly steep hill, and on first sight it looks quite clean and attractive. However the rooms themselves are quite spartan, with small balconies and just a little Belling cooker and fridge to cater with. The dogs and cockerels wake you ever morning between 5 and 6 o'clock, and the Factory Club and sky football bars can keep you awake quite late (bare in mind this was in September) The pool is very small and it is difficult to walk round with people on loungers feet being in the way. The owner is a nice guy, and the food is cheap and cheerful. Ask Dennis for a drop of his home made wine, from his mate in the hills - it helps you forget everything !
This was probably the best restaurant we visited during our week on Zante. We went at lunch time during a hurricane(September)and had fabulous food served in a very laid back fashion. The beers were icy cold, and Greek(not Amstel)the wine was really good, and we were given a free sweet for trying to order everything properly in Greek. We noted that all the other punters were locals, and I think that always tells a story. If you want chicken and chips or an oily burger-don't bother trying this little gem.
