Stars Restaurant - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Nick Y

We saw a sign advertising this as "the best restaurant in town" or something along those lines. We would easily say it was the worst place we ate. Surprised about comments of being rushed, although most people had been served when we sat down it took over 30 minutes for our "food" to arrive and then only after we chased the waiter. When it arrived it was not good, I ordered squid which was obviously from a bag and also burnt. Portions are large is the only good thing I can say. It took a further 30 minutes and two requests before the bill came and it was not reasonable in my opinion for what we ate. To me this was a typical "Brits abroad" restaurant, chips with just about everything and large portions. If you want more authentic food there are plenty of other nicer and cheaper locations.

Target Bar Taverna - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Nick Y

What a fantastic setting! The views across the bay to Zakynthos town and beyond are brilliant - be there at sunset, not to be missed. Food was great, go on the "Greek Night" as this was fun and the set meal including as much wine as you can drink is a very reasonable 12 Euros per head. Unless very fit take the free bus as the climb is very steep. We walked back down which was ok. Go there!

Blue Blue - (Restaurants in Argassi)

We ate here twice, both times had the seafood meze which was delicious. Fantastic view, good service and reasonably priced.

Elena - (Restaurants in Argassi)

We came across this place by chance when we took a wrong turn. A lovely traditional Greek Taverna, brilliant and reasonably priced food in a great setting. Shame it probaby loses out by being in a back street.

Argassi Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Nick Y

We knew what to expect, not the biggest beach on the island but good shallow and warm waters. Very good snack bars right on the beach, our favourite was Waves where the food was good and the staff very friendly.

Libra Holidays - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Nick Y  (28 July 2003)

I have posted our opinions of Costas Studios under the accomodation section so won't waste space here. Not impressed by being turfed out of our room at 09.00 for an 18.30 transfer so it could be cleaned particularly since it wasn't ready when we arrived just before 12.00 noon the previous Sunday. Surely the operators can organise this better to save people hanging around for over nine hours in 90 degree temperatures with nowhere secure to leave your belongings? The airport - what a joke or actually nightmare, queuing for ages in boiling heat before being herded into the departure lounge which was so full there wasn't even space to sit on the floor. It was interesting to note the duty free shop is almost half the size of the departure lounge so we know where the priorities lie here! We paid 12 Euros for two cheese rolls, how the cashier could keep a straight face when charging us I don't know. We were dreading the return journey and weren't disappointed. It's about time the authorities spent some of the considerable revenue from tourism on improving the airport facilities. It has certainly put us off returning to Zante.

Mimoza Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Nick Y

The setting for this hotel was fantastic. We didn't stay there but thought it would be a great place to eat in the evening with the gentle crashing of the waves just behind us. Unfortunately we sat at a table here two nights running and although it was not busy we left after ten minutes of being eyed up by waiters but not served. Maybe they didn't like the look of us, shame really as we would heve liked to eat there and the menu looked good.

Argassi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Nick Y

Although our accomodation was crap there were a lot of other good looking places to stay so mostly you won't be disappointed. We were there last week and it was HOT so try for air conditioning or at least hire a fan if you want to sleep although this didn't matter to us as the noise at our apartment ensured we were awake most of the time anyway. The town is great, plenty of good bars, shops and some good restaurants if you look for them and believe me, some bad ones too with surly staff. Beach is small but safe for kids, clean and the water warm. Loads of great pools all of which welcome non guests and mostly have free sunbeds if you buy a drink from their bar. We hired bikes and cycled into Zakynthos Town (20 mins) which is worth a half day look although if you want shops most are closed afternoons. All in all a good place for couples or kids.

Krinas Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Nick Y

Unfortunately we stayed in the dive next door but did have the use of the pool at Krinas. The whole place seemed spotless including the loos. Pool was great, perfect temperature and the pool area is a real sun trap. Good bar with reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff.Wish we'd stayed there.

Athina - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Nick Y

We only had lunch here but it was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was great too although we were the only ones in there at the time.
