Libra Holidays

Tour Operators in Zante

Annie I (13 July 2009)

We were unlucky enough to stay at the Sandy Maria (Sante Maria, Sante Maria)Aprtments last week and Libra were our reps. Our reps were June and some guy we only saw once called Graham(typical car salesman, cockney type) all loud and over bubbly. We saw him only once and he never even spoke at the rep meeting, plus they were late. We saw June briefly to pick us up from the airport and again at the rep meeting and she sounded bored and wasn't even selling any tours. Because of her bad directions to the resort of Tsilivi we got lost one evening and the sun was baking and it took 25 mins to find the resort. June was quick to tell us of the dos and don't at our apartments-which was a bit out of order-was a bit like being treated like school children and that was that. There was no feedback quesitonnaire issued to us on the last day-just as well because as a tour operator they are useless. I wouldn't use them again.

We were meant to fly out on a Viking plane-but were flown out on some unkown airline. We were given a warm bottle of water and a sandwhich at least. On the return flight we had a Viking plane and had to pay for everything-thought I had paid for a package holiday?

Libra were rubbish! There policy was that the rooms at the Hillside apartments were only cleaned once a week which isn't acceptable. I felt sory for the owners at Hillside because they were getting all the complaints about not having clean rooms - and this was actually down to Libra. The rep, Jodie, was horrible, very patronising, ignorant, difficult to get hold of, and she made the lady 2 doors down from us cry! Hillside apartments are at the top of a hill, Jodie didn't even come up the bank with us to make sure everything was ok - she just left us at the bottom and the owner came own in a little van to take us and our luggage up.
If i went again i'd go with First Choice - we heard good things about them.

I WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH LIBRA ONE BIT, MY FAMILY WAS DELAYED 27HOURS IN AUGUST I FLEW FROM A DIFFERENT AIRPORT WHEN I ARRIVED THE HOTEL WASNT EXPECTING ME THIS WAS DUE TO LIBRA NOT SENDING MY DETAILS OFF TO ATHENS FOR THE HOTEL TO RECIEVE. WHEN WE SPOKE TO THE LIBRA REP SHE SAID WE WAS OUT FOR A FIGHT????????? I LATER WENT ON HOLIDAY IN OCTOBER WHICH WAS ALREADY BOOKED BEFORE OUR HOLIDAY TO ZANTE AND THE REP THERE WAS CRAP SHE DIDNT EVEN GO ON THE 2HOUR COACH JOURNEY BK TO THE AIRPORT??????????? NEVER AGAIN   LIBRA SHOULD BE VOTED 1/10 AND THE ONE WOULD BE GETTING YOU TO THE DESTINATION SAFE?

Tracy J  (21 August 2005)

Not impressed at all with Libra. The airline (Air Malta) very poor. No inflight entertainment at all-not even radio and the meals awful! I had to email Libra to confirm some details for me - the response was less than courteous! We had to hunt for our rep when arriving at the airport and the same again when looking for our coach. Other holiday makers at our hotel had said that they wanted to book a car/excursion and the rep. didn't even turn up. Luckily our hotel staff were brilliant and we had no problems, I would hate to think what it might have been like if we had needed some help!

Julie A  (16 May 2005)

Our rep at the Santy Maria in Tsillivi was Lindsey. She seemed a really nice girl. The airline Excel were brilliant, the crew were very nice and polite and the food was not bad either.

The only problem on the whole holiday was the airport. The reps were very quick and professional with regards to the check in seeing as what they were up against. We had to queue outside and not even in the shade. We came home yesterday and I really feel for all you that are going in the peak season..take a can of magi cool spray!!! The airport is no way Libra's fault but they might have some say with  the airport people re better facilities etc ??? The departure lounge was very over crowded. Oh and on arrivals there is only one luggage collection area so there were 3 flights in at the same time and people were 5 deep trying to collect their cases.

Saying all this I will def go back to Zante and use Libra, We will just be better prepared for the airport!

Libra were spot on - no trouble at all - our rep Laura was excellent - always helpful and didn't turn up too early. We stayed in the very basic but superb Panorama Hotel. Demitros and Pedros were excellent hosts - when Libra asked them how much they'd charge for residents to bring non residents back (some hotels charge for the privelage) Demitros answered "at the Panorama Hotel passion is for free" top class! this is the ultimate boys holiday, the girls way outnumber the guys but I reckon this will probably change when the secret gets out!. over all this was the best holiday I've ever had...

Leah   (01 September 2004)

we stayed at the hotel panorama, our rep was laura, she was great. i thought she was very helpful and was always there when the timetable said she would. the only fault i can find with the rep is that the times she was there were a bit early, especially if your young and were out the night b4.but thats probably not her fault anyway. laura was wonderful on the bar crawl, she made it a great night.
the transfer was good too, leila was so helpful and very chatty. she explained everything we needed to know. the only think i dont like about the transfer is that the driver (who is probably extemely experienced) scares me the way he drives. you feel like you guna go over the edge or hit things when turning a corner.
the flight wasnt bad, ive had better. it was excel airways and it was quite your avarage basic flight.
"value for money" well it was ok.
and last but not least the accomodation. you couldt fault it, dimitri and pedros are wonderful people (once you get passed the slight shyness) they made our holiday a good one.its clean its nice and has all you need in a hotel.the panorama was excellent.

i would deffinately choose libra again for my holiday operators. but hay who knows another time or place means different people an all that so it could be poo......

Maybe i'm being biased but i thought Libra was one of the best companys i've been with. We stayed in Argassi, saw our rep constantly and he was very professional but made sure you was enjoying yourself. We would deff book with Libra again, in fact looking into it now.

Paul H  (02 August 2004)

Libra have one good hotel in Lagana which is Panorama. Dmitri and Pedro are excellent which is just as well as the Rep is normally non-existant or so vague and unhelpfull that you wish you never approached them in the first place.
Flight times with this operator are ridiculous, our flight was 11 am and the Rep was insistant that we leave the hotel by 04:50 on the morning. I asked if we could just taxi to the airport later and she told me it was not allowed and gave me a load of rubbish about missing flights etc.
Advice for anyone using this operator is to go to the airport about 2 hours before your flight, approach a Libra rep explaining you slept in and Hey Presto you are escorted straight through all the queues (I know this as I saw loads doing it much to my fury as we stood there for hours)
We are going back this year, but are using Thomson!

Lucy P  (26 June 2004)

Overall found Libra pretty good! Didn't see much anything of rep but wasn't that fussed about them anyway, flight was basic but very punctual and even left early from zante so only stayed in the cattleshed for 10 mins!! Good value for money and we had no problems with any aspect of the holiday!

Daniel L  (05 June 2004)

unfortunatly found libra one off the worst tour operators this year. i travelled to Zante in 2001 and our rep Katy was absolutly fantastic, things seem to of really gone downhill with Libra.

Les T  (10 February 2004)

we travelled to argassi in june 2003 with libra and will never use them again! the telephone service was unproffessional confirmation letters had to be chased (when we eventually got through). The brochure described the costas studios as being on a quiet side street, they forgot to mention the terrible noise from the karaoke in the krinas hotel next door that went on until 3am most nights! when we did get to sleep(in the really uncomfortable beds) we were woken at about 5am by cickens, goats& barking dogs. The reps were a waste of time, when we enquired about a late checkout i got the impression i was speaking a different language it took them till the day before departure to tell us it wouldn't be possible & that we had to leave the room at 9am(for a 10pm flight)&that we should leave our luggage in the garden!!!the "friendly" owners were so miserable i find it hard to believe they were greek! This was our second time in Argassi & we will go back just not with libra ¬ to costas!!!!

Ben S  (30 September 2003)

Unfortunately we weren't impressed with Libra. If somebody mentioned the words 'Libra' and 'Professional' in the same sentence I'd take issue. My fiancee booked the holiday over the phone direct with Libra and was greeted with 'Awwwight darling' (imagine crude Billy Mitchell from Eastenders accent), the same character proceeding to comment on where we live when we gave our home address. Clown.
We were advised that our tickets had to be picked up from Manchester Terminal 1 (late booking). WRONG. We should have been in Terminal 2.
On arrival at Zante airport we were directed to and boarded coach G. WRONG. We should have been on coach B. Comedy panic ensued so that we got on the right coach before it left without us. Before we even got to the hotel our minds were made up.
Tis a shame cos the flights were good and the accomodation was spot on although the latter had more to do with the resident Greek hostess who was super. (Dinas Studios, Kalamaki).

The M  (15 September 2003)

Libra and Excel airways were OK but the airport should be condemned, and it would have been years ago in the UK. Great Island with nice restaurants, beaches and scenery. I think the tour operator should come clean and tell holidaymakers the truth about the facilities, (or lack of!) at the airport. It's amazing to see that an island that makes so much money from tourists has the audacity to treat the source of it's main revenue worse than cattle!
The departure lounge is overcrowded, overpriced, dirty and dangerous.
God help anyone who happens to be stuck there if there is a fire.

Vickie W  (21 August 2003)

better commenting late than never but we had no problems with Libra or Excel Airways. Got to agree with the airport comments but no fault of Libra. Our rep was great and always available but we did not need him as accomodation was excellent (Hotel Panorama Laganas) with no hitches - would definitely holiday with Libra again

Louise P  (05 August 2003)

We weren't really impressed that we didn't know what we were meant to be doing about our tranfer back to the airport. A guy from Libra came around in the morning to tell us we had to be out of our apartment in 5 minutes! Fortunetly the owner was a really nice guy and said we could stay there until we were ready to go. Lucky really considering everyone else was kicked out at 9am when our flight was 7am the next morning!! Our actual rep, Claire, was friendly and we really enjoyed the bar crawl with her on the first night, but it would've been good if the notice board and the guys information were the same, had we listened to him we would've missed our transfer. Dont think much about Libra but still had a great holiday.

The L  (30 July 2003)

The accomdation (Pavlos Studios) was ok-ish, but then you get what you pay for. Luckily, the transfer from the town to the airport is only about 10 mins depending on drop-offs, which was good.

The airport was a complete nightmare. This will DEFINITELY put me off coming here again. We had to wait in the midday sun of more than 40 degrees for over an hour and everyone was getting dehydrated and pissed off with the long wait in the queue. Then when we FINALLY got inside, we found our flight was delayed for two hours. This meant sitting on the floor in the departure lounge for two hours in this dingy airport while other flights came in.

It got to the point where there was no room to move and I'm surprised there wasn't a riot. If there was ever a fire, a lot of people would have been killed. There was nobody to complain to and even if you found them, it's take you 20 minutes of barguing people out of the way to reach the exit. There's no way this would happen in England as it was a serious breach of health and safety.

We did fly back on a Sunday, so maybe that was a bad day. But they shouldn't treat people like animals - we were herded around like catle - it was a disgrace.

We flew on Excel Airways and here, it's a case of cram as many seats in as possible. The seats were so uncomfortable and it was impossible to sleep. The food was nice and film and staff good but my ankle swelled up due to lack of circulation as there was zero leg-room! The whole airport experience has put me of going back there ever again.

Nick Y  (28 July 2003)

I have posted our opinions of Costas Studios under the accomodation section so won't waste space here. Not impressed by being turfed out of our room at 09.00 for an 18.30 transfer so it could be cleaned particularly since it wasn't ready when we arrived just before 12.00 noon the previous Sunday. Surely the operators can organise this better to save people hanging around for over nine hours in 90 degree temperatures with nowhere secure to leave your belongings? The airport - what a joke or actually nightmare, queuing for ages in boiling heat before being herded into the departure lounge which was so full there wasn't even space to sit on the floor. It was interesting to note the duty free shop is almost half the size of the departure lounge so we know where the priorities lie here! We paid 12 Euros for two cheese rolls, how the cashier could keep a straight face when charging us I don't know. We were dreading the return journey and weren't disappointed. It's about time the authorities spent some of the considerable revenue from tourism on improving the airport facilities. It has certainly put us off returning to Zante.

Nigel m  (30 June 2003)

LIKE ALL OTHERS THAT HAVE COMMENTED THE AIRPORT IS A JOKE WE WAITED OVER 2 HOURS IN 95+ DEGREES OUTSIDE JUST TO JOIN THE CHEK IN QUE,AND WERE ONLY THEN TOLD OF A 3 HOUR DELAY, WE HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER 3 HOURS,YES YOUVE GUESSED RIGHT OUT SIDE AGAIN, THEY HAVE NO ROOM INSIDE UNLESS YOU ARE IN A QUE,WHEN WE FINALY WERE LET IN TO THE DEPARTURE LOUNGE HA HA ANOTHER JOKE PLACE,WE HAD TO JOIN ANOTHER QUE,THEY ONLY LET IN 10 AT A TIME.IF YOU CAN AVOID TRAVELING ON A SUNDAY PLEASE DO,AS THIS IS THE WORST DAY.AND ALSO AVOID ANY FLIGHT BY AZZURE AIRLINE.THEY ARE RUBBISH.HAVING SAID THAT WE DID FIND THE HOLIDAY VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY,WILL NOT BE GOING BACK UNTIL THE LONG AWAITED AIRPORT EXTENSION IS FINISHED,NOT WORTH THE HASTLE,SO COME ON YOU TOUR OPERATERS USE YOU MUSCLE GET SOMETHING DONE OR AT LEAST SPREAD OUT YOUR FLYING TIMES,SOME DAYS THERE ARE ALMOST NO FLIGHTS AT ALL.

Robert B  (21 June 2003)

any problems we had were not down to libra..we got what we paid for plus far better accomodation than we thought...the airport is a disaster..marginally the worst experience to date..but a lovely time awaits you once you complete the arrivals experience..you have to do worse than that to put me off!!

Dave H  (17 June 2003)

very good value holiday, only problem was at airport going home, libra staff sat in air conditioned coach/check in hall, while 100 people sat outside in 95 degrees.the airport is a real dump, far too small and not enough staff for amount of passengers.not going back till things improve.

Judy & Teri  (06 May 2003)

The flight out was on time and the flight crew were really friendly. No entertanment on the flights though. The 2wk holiday was excellent ,and our rep was lovely. It is quite possible you could have to queue quite a while to actually get into the arrivals area. If you need the loo, try and go on the plane or hang on, do'nt use the loos at the luggage carousel. On the return journey home was a night-mare, transfer coach was on time and the driver was very friendly, but our flight to Newcastle was delayed 6hrs. In that airport, night-mare! It is a tiny poky hole with poor air-conditioning. The food is crap and it all went in the bin. We were given a sandwich and a drink. The sandwich was dry bread, no spread and one wafer thin piece of ham. There is rumours going about they are supposed to be extending and improving the air-port, those rumours were around in 2000, the first time i went, it was no better in 2001 or 2002. I'm going back Aug 03 i'm keeping my fingers crossed, because i really do dread that part of the holiday. It still has'nt put me off though. The holiday at the other side of the air-port makes it well worth it. Might see ya's there.

Matt C  (09 September 2002)

Flight on the way out was good and we arrived early and were picked up straight away. The flight home was a nightmare. It took us over 2 hours just to get checked in. There were three other flights leaving at about the same time as ours which meant there was only one person on the desk. Quite why all of the tour operators run the flights at the same time I don't know. Once we'd gone through passport control we were in a smelly and dirty departure lounge for about 3 hours. Be warned if you are delayed make sure you have some Euros on you for drink/food as there are no banking facilities in the departure lounge. I know it wasn't Libra's fault but the airport needs some updating to cope with the demand.

Sara M  (09 July 2002)

Our flight arrived early in Zakynthos and we were taken straight to our bus, our rep Wes was really nice and friendly and agve us loads of info about trips etc. We did wait for 3 hours when we got to our apartments (Procopis) because the ppl who were leaving that day didnt get out of there rooms at 9 and there was only one cleaner doing about 20 rooms. Rooms were very basic but comfortable, were cleaned every 2 days and beds were changed every 4 days! Overall a great holiday and i will be coming back!!!

Janet A (13 June 2002)
