Me, my husband and 3 kids will be going to Tsilivi for the 4th time this Sepember. We love it there, the Greeks are very friendly, lovely beach and plenty of places to eat and drink. Some of the best places to eat are Pierro's, popeyes, Manos's, and there is a good restaurant along the main road that do Chinese and Indian dishes. There is a new bus service now in Tsilivi which will take you into Zante town. There you will be able to hop onto another bus to visit various resorts. Taxi's are quite cheap too, so for those who fancy sampling nightlife in Laganas, a taxi will cost about £4-£5, and it will take approx 15 minutes to get there.
we found the boat trip a bit of a disaster, but that may have been due to the season because it was mid October 1999. It started off really beautiful, the sea was gorgeous and crystal blue, but just before we turned the corner to the shipwreck, the boat was beaten back by the rough sea. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get very close to it. We gave the boat trip a miss last year, but my daughter and her friend went on it and said it was fabulous and they even managed to explore it. Those thinking of taking the trip, i would advise you to take a picnic, as the drinks and snacks were very expensive. The coach trip of the island great, and well worth the money too. They take you up into all the little villages where you can sample the local wine. You also get the opportunity to buy lovely lace tablecloths and handicrafts, and they also take you to view the shipwreck, looking down from a huge cliff. The views are breathtakingly beautiful.
Was at the admirals at the begining of october 2003. We are going back on 9th september this year. From some of your comments, it seems that they have a whole new group of staff this season. Is the chef ''Nicos'' still there???
Hi all, i have been reading all your debates on the meals in mermaids. To be honest, i have never ate there, basically because i have only ever been to Tsilivi, although i did take a day trip to Kalamaki last October. I have just been looking at the photo's on the data base, and must be honest in saying that, that mixed grill looks absolutely scrummy. The restaurant itself looks clean and the staff look very friendly on the photo's. I wouldn't hesitate in dropping in for a bit to eat myself when i am on the island in 4 weeks time. Lastly i would say that Zakynthos is a very beautiful island, and in terms of food, so far i have been fortunate enough to enjoy everything i have eaten, and take it from me, i am very fussy when it comes to food. I would also like to add a little to the comment which was made about waiting ages for food in the restaurant. Before making negative comments about the standard of food and having to wait a long time, doesn't that tell you something? You would have something to complain about if your chicken or steak was served to you within 10 minutes of ordering it, accusing the chef of not cooking your meal properly. Maybe waiting a little longer for food shows just how thoughtful and precise the Greeks are in making sure that the presentation of your food is of a high standard. Like i've always said, they bend over backwards to please us. No wonder some of us Brits are seen as having a bad reputation!! Sadly this spoils it for the decent ones. I have one last thing to say, and that is, if you don't like the Greeks, their culture, and spend all your time moaning and groaning about their food and their beaches, then save the rest of your holiday money for a flight and jump on the next available plane home. There is a huge difference between making a fair comment, and being damned rude and obnoxious about everything.
one of the best restaurants in Tsilivi. Their T-bone steaks are huge. We love it there, and ate ther quite a few times during our holiday last year. We will certainly be going again when we go to Tsilivi in September.
well what can i say? Most of you have said it all already. Faulty towers is the best. Tony and May work very hard to cook up a great English brecky. They even go to the trouble of having their Bacon and sausages inported from England, so you don't get those aweful frankfhurter things. We will be back between the 9th and 23rd september, so will be definitely paying Tony and may a visit again.
we went to this restaurant 3 times last year and the food was lovely. I went there on the night of my birthday and was given a free bottle of champagne. The good thing about this restaurant was the fact that it did both chinese and indian dishes, so if you are in a group and some don't like indian, you can have the chinese. Even the kids enjoyed it and it didn't affect any of our tummy's.
Candita's bar is a great place to chill out and unwind. The staff always make you feel very welcome. Candita is a star and remembers you year after year. She has been a good friend of my family for 5 years. See you on the 9th september candita.
We have been to Tsilivi 4 times over the last 5 years. The second time we went which was in 2001, we booked with Kosmar and stayed at the Daisy studio's. It was the holiday from hell. When we got there,we had to traips up 2 flights of stairs with 2 push chairs, despite the fact that we requested low floor accomodation. To make matters worse, they placed a young couple on the low floor and the owners refused to ask them if they would exchange with us, bearing in mind we had 2 children under 2 years of age. When we got to our room, the patio door was broken, and then when we went to go out for our evening meal, we were locked in from the inside and couldn't get out of the room. The owner, after a lot of scuttering in greek had to break the lock to get us out, and then had the nerve to hand us the bill for the new lock and key. After numerous trips to visit the rep, who by the way was hardly ever seen on the complex, and who spent most of her time in the village in the office, we demanded a transfer to another appartment. After 5 days of sheer hell, we were moved to the other end of the village, but not before i had the chance to throw the owners key and his bill to the bottom of the swimming pool for the suffering he caused to my family. I am not a person to normally complain, as you will see from my other comments on this web site. We have always loved everything about Tsilivi, but this accomodation really took the biscuit. People are easily fooled by the complex's appearance from the outside, because it really does look lovely. If anybody is thinking of booking these appartments, dont be fooled. It is very poorly maintained.
we stayed at the zante palace 4 years ago and we absolutely loved it. It is such a shame that airtours have pulled out of it. The pool bar was a great place for entertainment at night. Yiannis, thespina, illias, mario, Katerina and Yiannis's mum - you all went out of your way to make sure we had a fab time. Would definitely go there again, given the opportunity.
was just looking at this message board at all your comments on cafe romanza. My hubby and i and 2 children are going back to Tsilivi on the 9th sept for 2 weeks. This place looks really nice, and we trust all your comments on how nice the food is. We are staying at the Tsilivi admirals, which is in the planos are of the village. Could anybody tell us how we can find cafe romanza? I have been looking at the photo of it, and can see that the sea is in the background, but i can't seem to figure out where it is. any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hi George, hubby, myself and our 2 little boys came to the admirals last year. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and couldn not fault the hotel, bar staff, reception staff, rep ets etc. We enjoyed our time there so much that we are coming back on the 9th september. We all can't wait. I don't think that we met you there last year. Is it your first season at the admirals? Well all i can say is, there are some really good comments made about you on the message board, and we are certainly looking forward to meeting you in 2 weeks time, for some good old banter and entertainment. Say a big Yasoo to chef Nicos for us (if he is still there) and we look forward to his barbeques again this year. Take care. Helena.
could somebody tell me where exactly Sandra's bar is? We are going back to Tsilivi on 9th September for the 4th time and wouldn't mind popping in for a cocktail. We are staying in the planos area of the village. Thanks.
