We must have been very unlucky going by the other comments about the Grapevines. We were staying there for a week in October this year. There were only two girls there working behind the pool bar. They were obviously very bored at the end of the season and could not be bothered. Just basic manners would have been nice! I actually thought that one of the girls could not speak as I had only been nodded at for the first two and a half days, I was shocked to see her answer the phone! When we ordered food or something to drink at the pool bar we treated as a nuisance basically. If we had not been on holiday to Greece before on several occasions I know that after the apathy at the Grapevines we would not have gone back to Greece at all. The Greek people are normally so warm and friendly we were shocked to experience the treatment we recieved from these two girls at the Grapevines. It may well have been the second last week of the season, but if they cannot be bothered to be basically pleasant to people then they should not accept their bookings. The resort was nice, but we will not go back. The rooms were basic, but clean, although I did feel that the pool could have been cleaner.
Thank you Christos & family. We've just got back from a really great holiday. The apartments are really basic, but very clean. The pool is lovely and the food from the snack bar is good. Could i suggest that people should not encourage the cats into their rooms and feed them as it isnt fair on others when they come crying at the door or walking into their room as soon as the door is open (some people are genually frightened of cats).
We stayed at the Grape Vines Apartments the first two weeks in June 2004 and had a great time. The location is perfect. The apartments are great for a quiet peaceful relaxing holiday. We made some really good friends especially Roy and Pauline and Jessica. The food served at the pool bar was excellent and good value. The maid did an excellent job of cleaning the rooms and always had a smile. We intend to return next year, same time same room.Try Redskins bar and beach next time you are there. All in all just a great holiday. Anne and Colin.x

As a well seasoned first class world traveller who has always stayed at The Very Best 5*****+ and who was fed up with the usual insipid and false character that these places exude - I was extremely delighted, and much appreciative that my friend Christina Stafford-Hixon-Stafford asked me to join her at “The Grape Vines“. Although a basic accommodation, I found it to be homely, clean and thank you very much peaceful.
If you are looking to get away - just to chill and are not looking to pose or impress (Vise Versa) and Swap Plastic and Noise for peace - welcoming peoples, with real character - in a place that is still somewhat unspoilt from excessive commercialism; then this is it! “Don't look for luxuries 'cus you won't get it!” What you see is what you get!
But it was the best tonic I've had in years and I will go back again and again and again until it changes otherwise. They must be doing something right, my friend Christina has been going for 23 years!!!
You jet setting would-be posers - don't even think about spoiling this place, it's not your scene anyway!
My evenings were spent in a couple of tiny bars where I laughed away the hours with locals and other regular patrons of Alikanas from the UK..and it was always good to get back home (to The Grape Vines after a last nightcap on the balcony) for a restful dreamy sleep, ready to chill the next day yet some more. "Got their own nice little bar too, say hello to Christos, Litsa and the girls" (they make the place warm with their generous welcome). "Thank you Christos, Litsa and family and hope to see you again next year or sooner if I get the chance." XX
Hi Krishan
Yeah i remember you from Grapevines!
Thanks for the email address, I have sent an email but I'm not sure if you've got it because you posted that last message in January and I haven't been on until now. If you do have his email address I would really appreciate it but I've emailed you at your work address,
Thanks,
From Emily

5 days ago i got back to england aftr staying for 2 weeks in Grapevines. I had a great holiday - most days we went to the beach but as the island is quite small it is possible to travel around the island, for example we went to Zante town on a coach for 3 euros for 3 people!
On our last day we spent the time round the pool and at the snack bar. The food from the snack bar was lovely and the pool was brilliant!!
It was about a 5 minute walk to the main town with all the tavernas and about 15 mins to the beach.
if you're there you should go down the path to the left and visit lagero, a quiet taverna right next to the main path for grapevines!!
I wondered if you could help:
i am trying to get in touch with the family staying in room 14 at the Grapevines from august 5th-19th as i would like to keep in touch.
we stayed at the grapevines from 13th May to 27th May 2003 nice quiet location also good bar snacks and a good breakfast from 2.50 euros, would just like to mention the excellent Medusa taverna round the corner from them, as it is not mentioned in the taverna guide, lovely food and really friendly family and staff
alan and alison
our email address for the reqest for pictures seen below is
shell1285@hotmail.com
Thankyou
Does any one have any pictures of the Grapevines Apartments which they could email us please? We would love to get a better idea of where we will be staying. Many thanks
Stayed here last year with my girlfrien and we both loved it. Have read many scare stories of killer wasps and mosquitos and i can safely tell people that this is NOT TRUE! We used mosquito lotion at night and a plug in repellant and never had any problems. There is a nice small stretch of bars, restaurants etc that are about 5 minutes walk away and the beach is about 10 - 15 in the other direction. A superb place to be located if you like a nice quiet holiday - its only a small island so it does not take long or cost much to get around! Personally i much prefer staying somewhere quiet and travelling to clubs etc than staying in the middle of it when it could get noisy if you were having an early night. All in all a big thumbs up - going abain in 12 days!
JUST BACK FROM YET ANOTHER MARVELLOUS STAY AT THE GRAPE VINES. THIS AS GOT TO BE THE BEST SETTING TO STAY FOR A HOLIDAY IN ZANTE. WHILE HERE YOU MUST GO INTO JESTERS AND MEET DENNIS AND JANE WHO WILL BOTH GIVE YOU A GREAT WELCOME. FOR A GREAT MEAL, THEN IT MUST BE DIONYSIS. CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK. FOR NEIL, THE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR THE GRAPES IS 0030-6950-83056. (ANDY IS NOT THERE NOW YOU MUST ASK FOR CHRISTOS.
A telephone number or e-mail adress for these appartments where I stayed last summer and really enjoyed
