We went here for a couple of hours just to try and see the turtles. The guy who hires out the pedalos told us to pedal out towards the little red speed boat as the man on it guides people to the turtles. Half way there my friend nearly had a fit as a turtle swam right along side us, we weren't expecting them to be so big. It stayed near our pedalos for a few minutes and we took some video and photos and my son got in and swam with it. It was amazing, it really made our holiday!
We went here the first two nights of our holiday attracted mainly by the play area and the early bird menu which once you look around at the standard prices in other restaurants isn't that great. We tried stifado, kleftiko and moussaka among others and they were good but not great. Switched to the Mantalena where we ate for the rest of the holiday as the food is wonderful and it has a play area too.
We loved this restaurant and once we tried it we wouldn't eat anywhere else. The meze for two at 7 euros is wonderful as they cram on dolmades, spinach pie, cheese pie, big beans, pitta, tzatziki, taramasalta, olives, spicy sauasage and a few other things too. My son loved the pita gyros and my little girl (5) had a childs portion of moussaka a couple of times and cleaned her plate! We tried pork in lemon sauce, roast lamb, stifado, moussaka, souvlaki, papoutsakia and really couldn't pick a favourite as they were all beautiful. You really have to try this restaurant or you won't know what you've missed!
Just to say you have to do a horse and cart ride with Yiannis. He really made us laugh and the kids loved it.
Just got back yesterday. It was hot all week (late 20s early 30s) and very warm on a night too. Don't worry too much about the weather forecasts. I checked before we went and it said it was going to be cloudy and around 20 all week but we only got cloud on our last afternoon.
We got on a little boat and went to see the Shipwreck and supposedly the Blue Caves. After we went to see the wreck the captain started heading back the same way we came. I knew from a map that the Blue Caves were in the other direction so we asked the captain. He said "All caves are blue. I not lie to you. I tell you the truth. I'm not mafia". He then took us to see some caves which was fine and we didn't mind really, we thought it was quite funny and the trip was cheap only 10 euros for adults and nothing for children. All I'd say is don't get on this trip if you want to see the real Blue Caves or you will be disappointed.
we hired a car and visited here. its great view and the actual ship looks more picturesque from here than it does close up. it didn't seem that unsafe to me although it is essential to sup**vise your kids, and i wouldn't want to have been stood on it at the same time as the coach trip that arrived as we were leaving. when you look up at the platform from below on a boat it does make you feel a bit queasy tho to think you were stood on it as it's so high up.
