Tommy
Is this a new bar? Where is it please.
Good clean but basic apartments. I would use them again although it is a bit of a hike to the beach.
Matt is behind the bar in the evenings. His girlfriend Becky is on during the day together with Sue. No Toyah this year. And yes, it's still as good.
Hi Roger
Sorry Roger, forgot to say, they come from Leicester.
Julie
Don't think either of them were barstaff in Leicester, but they both fit in really well and the Mill Bar is as great as ever.
I stayed here in June and would use them again. Fairly quiet and I always had hot water! They are on the little road opposite Elpida (if you carry on this road, it takes you past Zante Gardens, Grapevine, back of Ionnis and Danny's and brings you out opposite Jesters). If you require any further info, just ask.
How was Sakis new bar doing? This bar only opened with a couple of days left of my holiday so only managed to visit once. I can understand your mate ending up in a ditch - Sakis does like to give big measures. And I've still not learnt never to buy him a drink 'cos he usually has a shot (Black Sambucca) and you have to have one too!
You're right, there's no reception, I think the owners are usually around but I didn't need them so couldn't be sure about that. Air con was extra - something like 7 euros a night. Cleaned fairly regularly, think bins were emptied every day except Sundays. Usual small towels. I think the beds were changed a couple of times during my fortnight. Nice and quiet although there was a bit of music from either the Elpida or Diogenis early evening. Romanza on the beach road was new last season I think and it's really good. New this year is Vrakis (or similar), I never used it but my daughter who only came home a couple of weeks ago, is raving over it.
Hiya Jane,
Actually Allen, the locals haven't extended their land over the beach. When I first went to Alikanas 11 years ago the beach was much wider all the way to the river, it has slowly eroded over the years.
Plenty of bars and restaurants to try. I personally don't rate the Greedy Greek, there are other places far better - Mantalena (most traditional in village), Dionysis(sp?), Romanza to name just a few and even more in Alykes. A good bar just along the beach from you is the Mill Bar - well worth a visit.
The beach is a 10-15 minute stroll.
There are plenty of places to change travellers cheques, the kiosk opposite Busters or Catacombs shop (under the bar) are the places I generally use. A charge is built into the exchange rate - you don't have to buy anything. I think you'll find the exchange rate for sterling travellers cheques is the same wherever you change them except maybe in Zante town where you'll get a better rate.
Brilliant bar with great staff, we love Sakis.
One of the best in resort this year and really good value.
Wasn't very impressed, only ate hear once this year.
Kathy, the Valais is with Manos as far as I know.
Yep, Nikos is still around. Got a really posh car this year too.
The area of Alykes/Alykanas is very safe, just exercise the usual caution you would anywhere else. I've been holidaying in Alykanas with just myself and my daughter (aged 7 in 1995), and now on my own, since 1995 and have never been worried in the slightest about my safety. There appear to be lots of malicious rumours circulating at the moment which are totally unfounded.
There are plenty of places to change travellers cheques. There is no charge for sterling (there is a charge built into the exchange rage) but I believe there is a charge for Euro t/c's.
Can't help ref Antonio except to say that they are on the outskirts of the village, therefore a bit of a walk to both the beach and the bulk of the bars and restaurants.
