It easy to get a meal for two with wine in most restaurants for less than £10. Try the house wine, it can be surprising good. Drinks are also much cheaper than in the UK especially locally produced wines and spirits.
Well spotted. It was a picture of Relax Bar in Laganas!
I stayed in Laganas last October and thought it was a good time to visit. The beach isn't crowded and the whole place had a more relaxed atmosphere. The town centre was still busy at night, but the bars on the outskirts were empty. The weather was still warm, but it got cloudy now and again and rained once, but it's a lot better than back home. The main reason to visit at this time of year is because of the cracking deals you can get on flights and hotels.
It's 220v everywhere in Greece. Just remember the plug adaptor.
Try Airtours, they used these apartments last year.
I talked to two lads back in October who got return flight only from Bristol for £15 each!!! They got them off the Airtours auction website www.lateescapes.com. Only downside was that they had to travel from Yorkshire!
Yes....but it frequently runs out of cash for a day or two so don't rely on it too much.
Local shops hire fans for £1 per day. Watch out, some accommodation owners charge you for the electicity. Hide it in the wardrobe during the day!
Just returned from here. Disruption from building work is minimal. There is far more noise from aircraft landing nearby. Fortunately good double glazing and air-conditioning means this is not a problem. Otherwise it is a very quiet location. Rooms are on the small side, but are modern, well equipped, comfortable, and are cleaned daily. Pool area is spacious and never crowded. Five minutes walk to the beach, but it's quite a long walk into the centre of Kalamaki. You will probably want to get a taxi back. Birds nesting around the hotel provide an entertaining display in the early evening.
Apparently this restaurant is under new management this year, and is no longer associated with the supermarket and car hire. Someone told me that the food is not as good as it used to be. Seems they were right!
It was on www.zanteweb.gr/hotels/venus/index.html, but not anymore!?!
Try Mandy from The Green Frog Restaurant on greenfr@otenet.gr.
I like this bar. It looks expensive, but drinks prices are fairly average, and you get served at your table. Your kids will love it! It's like an adventure playground. Well worth of walk up the hill. Recommended.
Nice quiet location, excellent food and service, what more could you want? Took ages to get the bill but who cares? Recommended.
Its normal to be charged to keep the room on for an early morning departure. £16 is a reasonable price to pay if you consider that someone may have to clean the room in the middle of the night to make it ready for another guest arriving early the next morning. It's one of the problems of arriving on a night flight and really should be made clear at the time of booking.
