our last day today here at hotel exotica, weather been fab, hotel still as friendly and clean. its been great to see seve sia, georgia and effi and new guys alton and landi. kids club reps good. seve organising an entertainer for day and night time. best restaurants we ate in the week were duon amici, mechaloes and dias!if you go to dias say hello to labros and nikos( behind the bar!!!) i f you go to duon amici tell them we sent you and you will get a free half karaf of wine!!
After going to Zante for many years and knowing Alex very well, I think we can speak for many people he was well liked and will be extremely missed. The accident was awful and to happen to someone so young is terrible. Dearest condolences to his family and friends and to everyone at the Exotica.
Are sincere condolances to Alecos(Alex) family & friends. Such a great guy will be sincerely missed are hearts go out to you at such a sad time & please send are thoughts to his family. Alex was someone who always had a smile on his face no matter weather day or night & would always come over & speak to us in his very little English he spoke but we always understood each other. Hi Exotica
hi...this is sunshine princess!!! (sarah that worked behind the bar in the evenings for a bit during the summer at exotica)...
Thanks to all the staff and Thomson Reps, especially Tracey and Ryan. (how can you forget?) Moving to Kalamaki and the Exotica Hotel was the best move. Friendly staff and excellent facilities. Good location. Recommend this to people of all ages.
Hi yA aLl i MiSs rYaN sO mUcH Hew iS so fUnNy lOvE Ya rYaN XxXx
had a great time, would recommend to go late october as its very quiet and the reps still work theirs socks off to entertain every one. bid thanks to ryan and his gang. speacial thanks to alex for his last night of entertaining a few of us left.hi to rachel and simon and the kids if you read this hope you had a good time to.
steve woodruff, i worked there 2003/2004 there was talk about it then but if its in the summer sun brochure then it has changed. the supermarket is great ay it. and very friendly. i think the greeks r more friendly than the spanish.
all i can say is that was what people were saying from 30 sep to 14 oct, even the reps said that they were not sure.thing the hotel is going to do it them self, shame cause the reps can make or break someones hols.we will have to see.mine you i will only go back there if its cheap,i paid £142.00 for 2 weeks b n b .i would not pay full price, cheaper across the road diy.would just like to say the super market shop next door.was brill.ryan you owe me a cd ok.
It must have gone to sky tours then?
Hey Natalie, we booked to go again for next year regardless!! It is listed in the Thomson Summer Sun brochure and there is definitely a kids club and according to the brochure - some daytime entertainment. So we'll have to see. I'm sure we won't be disappointed...the hotel and it's staff are fantastic, we love the resort and I'm sure we'll have a great time.
I CANT BELIEV THIS HOTEL IS NOT GOING TO BE A SUPERFAMILY NEXT YEAR.2004 WE ALL PUT IN SO. . . MUCH WORK AND THE QUESTIONAIRES YOU GUYS FILL IN ON THE PLANE REFLECTED THAT, WE WAS TOP KIDZONE IN ALL KIDS CLUBS THAT THOMSON OWN THAT IS A HELL OF A LOT OF KIDS CLUBS WE BET. IM SO DISAPOINTED. IM GUTTED. AND I NO YOU GUYS WILL BE TOO. IF ANYONE NO'S WAT ITS GOING TO WIL YOU PLEASE LET ME NO. DONT BE TOO DISSAPOINTED THOU IT MIGHT GO TO SKYTOURS SO THER WILL STILL BE A KIDS CLUB JUST NO ENTERTAINMENT, WHICH I NO EVERYONE ENJOYED AND I DID TOO EVEN THOU I NEVER GOT TO WATCH THE SHOW, TOO BUSY RUNNING AROUND CHANGING FOR THE NEXT DANCE ETC, GOOD MEMORIES THOU. BUT SO DISSAPOINTING TOO.
this hotel is not going to be a super family hotel next year ok,
Had a brilliant time at the Exotica although it seems so long ago now as we went early July, still unsure whether or not to book to return for the october school hols, kids want to but hubby cant get the time off. Nothing was too much trouble for the Thomson Superfamily Team and the hotel staff, our kids said it was their best holiday so far, entertainment was excellent especially Ryan. Sad though that hotel will not be a superfamily hotel next year but will probably still return as location was so quiet and relaxing. A big thanks to everyone who made our holiday special Miss you all xxx

Returned on 19th after 3rd year in a row, great warm, friendly place, Sevi, Sia, Efe, Jo, Aleco etc all the hotel staff are excellent. Will hopefully return next year to this fairly quite, relaxing Island where you meet faces from past years over and over again. Great retaurants, especially "Michaelos", great beach, convenience shops, bars, snack bars etc all you need for a relaxing holiday, but plenty of superb scenery and places to visit on the island. A must for all to see at least once. Hi to Barry, Cin, Scott, Sam, Les, Debs, Jordan, Martin, Janine, George, Loti, Steve etc etc, just a few who have returned again and again.
Just returned from a two week stay at the Exotica, location, grounds and pool area are very good. Rooms OK although not very clean, breakfast was good.

Fiest time at this hotel and Zante. Great place, our wee lad (3) loved it! Kids reps were great, big shout for Tommy Tomato. Ryan, keep spinning that disc. Everyone who worked there was really friendly. We had a great room, jumped over the railing and straight in the pool, which was kept exceptionally clean. No problems getting a sunbed as long as your up before 11am!! I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did.
What a fantastic holiday!
Just returned on Monday 4th July having spent two wonderful weeks at the Exotica. If you have children this hotel is a must, the location is brilliant, only a few moments to either the beach or the resort centre and the hotel staff and entertainment reps for the children are truly exceptional, as is Sia behind the bar. The rooms although basic are clean and tidy, cleaned daily with towels and linen changed every other day. The resort is very cheap and all of the restaurants we visited were fantastic welcoming children and genuinely friendly. The only small downside are the charges made for the use of a small fridge and the air conditioning in the rooms (about £50 each for 2 weeks). A large proportion of the guests at the hotel had stayed before and we will definitely return.
Just arrived back from Hotel Exotica for the second year unfortunately our Exotica experience wasnt as good as last year. The first room we was put in was damp and had mould in the bottom of the wardrobe to rectify this it was painted over!! However we asked to change rooms and 3 days into our holiday was moved. We had a few small problems however we got the impression the hotel staff are great whilst everything is going ok with the exception of Tania, Cea and Alex who were superb. All of the Thomson Team were great especially Rachel,Tom,Ryan and Tracey they really made you feel an individual and our 4 year old especially had a fantastic time at the Kids Club.Breakfast in the hotel was good loads of choice and plenty of it. Pools are good and sunbeds free there is never too much of a problem getting one. The beach is great and the sea very shallow and warm, perfect for children and if you are very lucky as we were you can swim with turtles, we saw them most days. Hotel located well for both beach and bars and restaurants our favorite places were Olive Tree (164 main courses to choose from) and Paris Taverna (near Cave Bar) both superb and so cheap but good quality too.The Cave bar is worth a visit too as the views are superb.
Exceptional hotel, very basic rooms but very clean. The hotel staff are eager to please and exeptionally pleasant this is a credit to Sevi the owner, the grounds and pool maintained by Alex were spotless, the pool snack bar run by Cea offered great snacks and coffee at very reasonable prices. Tania on the bar was always ready with a smile and chat. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel Exotica who made the holiday.
We were reassured by comments on this site and we weren't disappointed - we got back yesterday after 2 wonderful weeks (but there is a but at the end) - the hotel was spotless, we had a brilliant room on the ground floor overlooking the main pool and garden area with two small beds for our children (2 and 4 years). Towels seemed to be changed most days, breakfast was great, staff all loved children, the Thomson superfamily reps were all good with the children - it really was set up for families, the clubs and entertainment were spot on, Ryan is destined for stardom and Tom was the best children's rep I've ever seen. Here's the but: we went on 6 May - and found we could use all the facilities like the playground and pool easily, but I'd hate to see this place in August because you always get anti-social behaviour everywhere that British people go on holiday; whilst we were there the soft play area meant for children under 36 months was vandalised by older children, and towards the end of the second week the children's pool was cloudy (nice to see adults using it to wash their feet) and the litter was building up in the gardens. The rumours about ear infections are true, you need to bring ear plugs with you for kids or adults. I think it might be a general pool problem as I got an eye infection. And I couldn't see why singles obviously out for a Club 18-30 type experience would want to be at the hotel. But we had a great time. Very impressed. Info that might help - all ceiling fans have been removed, so its air conditioning (at extra cost) or nothing! You can close a patio type door at night closing off your room completely, or use slatted shutters which make the room pitch black inside but are cooler. Not sure if they would keep out insects, although because of the time of year we went, we didn't get anything in the room. Fridges are in most rooms, we didn't need one but if its important to you then pre-book it. Supermarkets sell pretty much everything for babies but at a premium - baby wipes and nappies are much more expensive, we regretted not taking enough for 2 weeks. Gemellis is cheapest for baby things. If you go into Zakynthos town, the area near the monastery has best tavernas and shops - don't eat on the main road at the harbour, we had the worst meal there. There's a wonderful tourist bus shaped like a little train which young children will love, takes you up to Argassi (past the Symposium Piano Bar which provided us with the second worst meal!) Kalamaki Beach Taverna is fantastic if you like Greek food, but the beach was full of oil deposits under the sand, you don't know until you sit down. There's a lot of plastic waste washed up, soon added to by plenty of cigarette butts. There are jelly fish but not every day. If they are around then you have to keep out of the water, children need beach shoes and you have to watch them paddling as there were plenty in the shallows. Crystal Beach is better, ask for directions at Exotica reception, but you have to pay for sunbeds 7 euros. Best restaurant was Kepos, opposite Crystal Beach. We hired a car from Merliz on the main strip, they spent half an hour fitting really good child car seats and testing them, children sat in them and had straps adjusted, they gave us maps and various tips. You won't get service like that at most of the other hire places. We were advised not to take young children on any of the excursions and we were grateful for the advice; although another couple did take their baby on a boat trip (not booked through Thomson) and saw 2 big turtles, they were the only people to see turtles in the 2 weeks we were there! Trips can be long, boring and expensive, often difficult to get children on and off boats and coaches etc. Car hire is currently c. 80 Euros for 3 days. All the restaurants are good, you'd have to try hard to have a bad meal. We thought Hera, Michaelos, Boun Amici and Teseros were particularly special. We used the hotel pool bar for lunch a few days and it was fine, not sure why people have said its expensive. If you are travelling with young children, you really are in for a treat, you'll get lots of help and special treatment pretty much everywhere. The only thing to avoid is the Greek night at the Venus hotel, ho ho! If you can afford it, a private taxi back to the airport on the way home is about 8 euros and if you have prams, toddlers, etc., its the best 8 euros you'll spend! (PS - you can already see Kalamaki becoming like Laganas, real shame).
this hotel is great .116 is the best room ever its got our toe nails and bogies in there lol. great views from this room to look at the sexy local boys (and the sheep.)
We are going back to the Exotica for the 3rd time in 4 years. We'll be there from 15th - 29th August, two adults and 2 daughters 11 and 13 and we can't wait to be back.
Hi Barry Good stuff, well be seeing you again then, we go 8th - 19th Aug, cant go on the 5th Grans 100th birthday, had to compromise. Will be great all catching up again. Keep in touch. Steve, Maura, Jake & Luke
THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE STAYING HERE THIS YEAR.I HIRED A SCOOTER LAST MAY FROM THE HIRE SHOP 2 DOORS FROM THE IGUANA BAR.I HIT A LARGE POT HOLE IN THE ROAD AND CAME OFF THE SCOOTER.I CUT MY LEG BADLY AND HAD MEDICAL TREATMENT.THE SCOOTER ONLY HAD A FEW SCRATCHES ON ONE SIDE.WHEN I TOOK THE SCOOTER BACK THE MAN WAS NOT BOTHERED ABOUT ME HE JUST WROTE DOWN 100 EURO FOR THE DAMAGE OR HE WOULD KEEP MY PASSPORT.I AM NOT A BOY RACER I AM 50 AND HAVE PLENTY OF EXPERIANCE WITH MOTARCYCLES.THE OWNER OF THE SOULI STUDIOS NEXT TO THE EXOTICA WHERE I WAS STAYING AT SAID HE IS A THIEF TO CHARGE 100 EURO.SHE SAID IT WAS 20 EURO AT THE MOST TO PAINT OVER THE SCRATCHES.ALSO THIS ROBBING THIEVING BANDIT CANNOT SPEAK ANY ENGLISH.SO BE WARNED HIRE FROM SOMEONE ELSE NOT FROM THE ONE NEAR THE IGUANA.
Great place, going back again this August 3rd year running, anyone from early August last year returning again? how are you Barrie, Les, John etc, etc Steve, Maura, Jake & Luke
I thought the food was lovely. The kids loved a place called The Venue which did cheap pub lunches. We liked The Mermaid and one across the road from it that has completely slipped my mind. Will come to me soon I am sure.
I tried a variety of Greek dishes. There is a variety to suit everyones tastes. Burgers, Greek, Italian, English, Chinese & Indian. We didnt get to go in the chinese/indian restaurants as the kids dont enjoy that type of food.
I am sure you will have a great time!!
Thanks for the info on baby food Debi. Can`t wait til June 05. Can you still get good greek food at kalamaki-only I have read that it`s all a bit same-ish and a bit of an english resort in the sun?

Doug.
No problems, only approx 4-5 in and out a day, some take off
over beach, some away from beach. Its not noisy but quite
interesting watching them come in over the sea/beach. I think
your grandaughter will enjoy it. Great hotel been last 2 years and
returning again in August. Have a good time.
Helen,
You can get brand baby food out there in jars. The hotel has a microwave that you can use and they are always helpful in warming up baby bottles. The only problem is that they don't have baby milk that we use in the UK. So if anyone is takeing a bottle fed baby, please make sure you take enough with you, else you may have to use a Greek brand that could upset their tummy.
