Doug,
The aircraft noise can be heard from the hotel but it isn't a huge problem. We have just come back from the Exotica after spending 10 days there. Although you can see the planes take off and land, it can be exciting for the children rather than a hinderance. The airport is about 3km away so it is very close.
I dont think this will spoil your holiday whatsoever. I am sure your grand-daughter will find the holiday fun as the kids reps are fantastic with the children. There were kids clubs run twice a day for 2 hours at a time, and 3 times a week they had an evening party where they would watch a film and have dinner, or have a pyjama party and eat lots of sweets and snacks. The kids clubs are free apart from the evening one which cost 3 euros. The people who work there are very friendly and love the children. Most evenings a childrens disco was ran, where they really encourage the kids to take part, then afterwards something for all the family is usually on.
My only downfall about the holiday was that we had rain for 4-5 days, and the entertainment then was not very good at all. When the weather was fine, Joff the entertainer(who will be there next year) was eager to arrange activities, but when the weather wasnt great and we needed entertaining, he was lounging infront of the tv watching cartoon network. He was great in the evenings, a real entertainer. He has gone off now for the winter and someone called Charlie has taken over. Even in her first 2 days of entertaining, she was definately a fresh face for everyone. She is great with the kids and involves them in everything going.
Overall we found the hotel clean, the staff friendly and the reps are great, will help with anything. Tracy the head rep helped us with a Dr on our last day for our son who had ill, and the hotel management let us stay in our room for a late check out so that he could stay comfortable without others bothering him.
The food at the hotel is great for kids, and all the restuarants in Kalamaki serve childrens meals. They even do kids cocktails so if you go to a cocktail bar, the kids aren't left out.
While there we went on a cruise around the island. Although we could not go all the way around due to bad weather, the trip was wonderful. We managed to go to the shipwreck, here we got off the boat and was able to sunbathe and go into the sea. This was beautiful and will be a memory I have with me for a long time.
My kids are 6 & 10. They met alot of new friends at the Exotica, as I am sure your grand-daughter will. This is definately a family orientated hotel and will bend over backwards to make sure your needs are met.
One drawback is that you have to pay extra for air cond. and a fridge. I think it should be included in your with the price. You can also hire kettles, iron, hairdryers, beach towels(adults only) for a small deposit.
Have a great time....I hope this helps...anymore questions, feel free to ask.
Debs
We will be taking our Granddaughter aged 8 to the Exotica in June 05. Have heard a bit about aircraft noise. Is this a problem or just something in the background? We really want this to be a good holiday as it is her first time abroad.
If i forgot the names or got them wrong of any of the reps below i'm sorry but i'm not good with names.
We arrived back last night and what a fantastic holiday we had. We were kept entertained by Joff, who puts a 110% into everything he does along with all the other reps, Tracey, Jodie, Lisa, Carla(shorty), Gemma and Lynne. The hotel staff were all really nice and friendly. This was our first Thomson super family holiday and we will definitely be going with them again. We shall miss our daily games of volley ball, where Joff always made sure Matt(titty)and i were on opposite teams. The highlights of our holiday were the saturday night live show, that was fantastic all the reps did a great job. The simply Zante trip, we got to see alot of the island in one day with some spectacular views. Thursday night brought us the kids talent show and superfamily rocks, this was a really great night, Joff's riverdance had my chin on the floor, boy can he move. Anyway this is a great place to go on holiday we didn't have any faults about the hotel or thomson staff, we will miss them all loads.
My girlfriend and I have just returned home from the Exotica Hotel having just enjoyed an absolutely magnificient holiday. The resort was excellent, the reps were superb, Joff the entertainer was simply brilliant; both during the day for the poolside entertainment and in the evenings (including saturday night live!!!!) We also met so many nice people and enjoyed some great days and nights (Karaoke and greek night) and the 'bombing in thongs' is surely worthy of getting a mention. Cheers everyone for making our holiday what it was.
Garry and Fi (13/9/04 - 27/9/04)
Thank you for replying everyone. It sure does sound a great place to go. Our kids are 10 & 6 so hopefully they will want to join the kids club and let us sunbath in peace. I am getting really excited now, and nervous about the flight as I hate flying...why do I put myself through it.....lol
Will report on how it went when we return.
Debs
It was our first holiday with our 1yr old son and it was one to remember!!!!Everything about the holiday was excellent from the hotel to the resort. The hotel was very child friendly and all the kids reps were first class. We went to a mother/toddler session twice during our stay and had loads of fun despite being covered in green paint!! Enjoyed it so much that we had been home less than 24hrs but booked again for next year! The hotel had something for everyone and its location in Kalamaki was central but not noisy from the hussle and bussle of the main strip. Weather for beginning of September was in 28-30's evey day - perfect for sunbathing if only we had the chance with our little angel!!!! Favourite place to eat was the Red Pepper restaurant best meal on the island and the most friendly people you could wish to meet.
Hi Debs,
I think you can hire a kettle/iron/microwave for a refundable deposit (so no cost, you get your money back when you return the item - the same goes for towels - we paid 5 euros per towel which was refunded on return of the towels). The fridge was 50 euros for two weeks and the aircon about 70 euros for two weeks. The weather forcast still looks good - but you may need a cardigan for the evenings as they do tend to be cooler, even in high season. I hope you have a fab holiday - please post the site to let us know. Jeanette x
Hi,
We are going to the Exotica Hotel on 8th Oct and noticed that many of you have said about paying for the extra facilities. I wonder if anyone can tell me how much it is to hire the fridge & kettle please. I am wondering whether it is wise just to pack a travel kettle!
Hope the weather is good for when we go, you all seem to have great reviews of the hotel and the area.
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Debs & Family
just used the pool bar as my flat nearby didn`t have one but the food and drinks were good, cheap and the staff very friendly!
Hi,
Going to kalamaki next June-after reading the good reports. Going with friends who like us will have babies with us. Could anyone let us know if we can get known brand baby food from supermarket or anywhere nearby. Thanks
Helen X
We had a fantastic 2 week holiday end of August 2004. The hotel is clean, staff very polite and helpful, and the continental breakfast was excellent. The Thomson staff were great, and were always willing to help with any problems you might of had. The excursions were fantastic and well worth the money, especially Saturday Night Live. We found 2 really good restaurants. Escape Taverna (out the door and turn right, towards the beach), the other was a chinese/Indian (sorry can't remember the name), it was straight facing the Down Under Australian Bar. (out the hotel door, turn left onto the main road. Turn right and keep going until you see the Australian Bar)
10/10 THE BEST HOLIDAY YET. We will be returning next year. Booked as soon as we got back.
There must be something wrong with my computer as it is not there at least I'm not going blind!!!!
Sarah Harwood
put yer spcs on hun
it is just above the top post on the page..
booked a late deal and got this super family hotel
it wasnt the kinda place i would choose to stay but
it was lovely staff were friendly the maid was very nice
and very polite. very good value for money (if you dont get the air con or fridge that is) but the room had a ceiling fan so it was ok
i would stay here again even though it does cater mainly for kids
Hi Sarah,
As you are looking at the most recent message - there should be a box just above saying "15 pictures in our database. To view Click Here"
If you click here you should see photos from the Exotica. I'm hoping to add a couple more in the next day or two. Have a great holiday!
Jeanette
Hello
Not sure if it is just me being a bit blind but where do I go to look at the photos that you have all put on?
Cheers
Thanks, Barrie
We've just booked to go back to the Exotica next August. It will be our 3rd visit in 4 years. Have to say this year was the best - largely due to Joff and the Kidzone Reps. They were superb.
Can't wait to go back. Hopefully have some decent pics to post next year.
Jeanette
Jeanette,
Give it a few days and they will be ok, Mine did the same.
Barrie
Can anyone tell me why the photo's i've added are not shown until you click on them? And is there a way of deleting the two I've added once I've found out how to do it properly?
Just got back from Hotel Exotica on 30 August 2004. Had a fantastic holiday. Kiddie reps were superb, Joff the entertainer was brilliant and hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Had a room with 4 single beds for me, husband, and daughters aged 12 and 10 and the room was more than adequate. The facilities at the hotel were great and we ate out at a number of restaurants, the favourites being Mermaids and Parthenon. Trying to book again for next year it was so good!
just got back home 23/8/04 to newcastle, from the exotica apartments, great time and place ,excellent for the kids loads of entertainment day and night.the best reps i have ever seen on site.every one knows who has stayed there this year, joff the entertainer is great fun and great kids clubs.food excellent in mermaids.only a couple of faults with the apartments, air conditioning and having to hire the fridge should be included in price of holiday.
Steve,
I have just added 2 photo's which I took from the aeroplane, check out the one which I have zoomed in onto the hotel and check out the football pitch!!!!! Joff must have been taking notes!!
many thanks steve that mozzy net thing was my only worry
i got mozzy tabs and sprays cheers mate
Eddie
1 set of doors with vents, 1 set with glass, plus curtains (ie: 3
barriers to avoid Mozzies), bit of advice buy Mozzie plug and tablets
about £4 from supermarket next door.
Ste
Thanks Steve for your info.
went to kalamaki in june loved the place so going back aug 30 just for a week this time but staying at the exotica. does anybody know if they have those mozzi net doors they had in the antonis appts? they are like doors but with nets and not glass. great for nights when its red hot ..
Lisa.
There are only 4 family room with 2 bedrooms which are
charged at a higher rate. Twin 4s for your children are more than
adequate (2 beds and bunk bed/2 singles). I have been last 2
years and we were fine and my children are older. (you only
sleep in room) It seems October starts to wind down but early
should be OK, weather still good but daylight shorter like here. I
think you will find evening entertainment and bar will move inside
for October, a bit cooler in the evenings. You should have a great
time, most comments should confirm this.
Steve
We re going to the exotica on 1st october. I was wondering what the roms are like. we have to girls the are 10 and 7 so i asked for separate bedrooms but from what i can gather the rooms are mainly one room with four beds. Can anyone let me know if this is true and if there are any with extra bedrooms if i can email them to make sure i get one. I am so glad i found this site as it has put my mind to rest that i have chosen a good hotel. Also what is the evening ent like. thanks very much.
Thanks Steve can't wait to go!!!!
Sorry Sarah forgot email = exotica@hol.gr, Tel ++30 26950

Steve
Sarah.
Below tells you about all to know, Island great, Hotel very good
been twice came back 16th Aug, resort very quite this year,
maybe due to Olympics. Beech turn right out of reception, follow
road out of reception and keep left past fruit stall. Turn right at
main road for most restaurants although Paulos is left. End of
main road turn right at Taxis for another small strip and Cave Bar
worth seeing. Best restuarants in my order are Michaelos (cab
from reception) Dias (across main road) Stanis & Zepos
(towards beech and left at Iguana bar) Paulos (left at main road
approx 1/2 mile r/h side) Left out of hotel 20yds on left
appartment with pool and snack bar, great service for lunch is
run by 3 brothers, breaks up the day, I would suggest you try all
these (Michaelos is superb). Tell Joff the Hotel entertainer that
Steve & Barry says learn to Coach football HA, HA
Hope this helps, you should have great time ley website know.
I am going to the Hotel Exotica on the 24th September does anyone know their email address, also is there any further up to date comments on the hotel?
Oh well Barry, Les, Cyn, Debs, kids etc etc, were back now while
you are still at bar, thanks for last drink. A bit quiter this year, Joff
is ok but relies on a few guests to sort out some activities (me or
Barry) like football, water rounders, polo etc. Great staff at Hotel
although seemed a bit more tense this year, not many free
shots. Shame Costas was not around more in the evenings.
Hope to be back next year but maybe a different hotel, once the
kids grow out of kids club, another hotel may suit better. Keep in
touch all, Steve, Maura, Jake & Luke
I liked it at the Exotica, been back 5 days. Not sure I would rush to go back though - not because it's a bad place but a case of 'been there, done that'.
In response to some of the questions on this site - you can hire a fridge for a small fee. They are not in the rooms already but ours was delivered straight away! Air Con machines are in every room but to actually have them 'switched on' you need to pay a small fee and they will give you a remote control - and you certainly need it!
Joff the entertainer - I really liked him - however he did wind other people up by taking towels off of sun beds and the suchlike. The worse thing he did imo was when there was a game of football. A young lad of around 10 years of age cut his leg (quite badly it turns out - 17 stitches), and Josh picked him up and ran across the football field shouting "MEDIC, MEDIC". He is a drama queen and loves attention but surely would have frightened the poor kid half to death.
I'm sure you will enjoy it at the Exotica make sure you dry your ears thoroughly though - there were ear infections galore when I was there.
Hi Everybody
What did you think of Zante?
was the staff good?
and was the food nice?
Would you reccomend it and go again or not?
was the pool nice?
Any pictures please would be nice.
Thanks Shannon & Sophie
does the hotel exotica exchange currency and travellers cheques? Also are there any fridges in the rooms?
Cheers
Fifth year at hotel this year. Better than previous years (which i didn't think possible) Entertainer this year is Joff and he is top quality.

Hi Steve
Our flights a bit later this year as we are flying from brom, we dont land until 2.10pm. I heard Jake has stocked up with water balloons, cant imagine what for!
Look forward to seeing you all
Barrie, Cyn Scott and Sam
Hi Barrie and gang, not long now, what time does your flight get in on
Friday?, ours is about 11.40am, ill get you a beer if im there before
you. Seems like rooms have air con and fridges now for a fee. Hope we
dont have that storm like last year and another earthquake, mind you
need something to make the earth move after all that METHOS.
See you soon, Steve, Maura, Jake &
Okay then....Came back last weekend after 2 weeks there.
5 of us travelled - 2 adults, 2 kids (6/7) & a 16 month baby. Have to admit, fairly impressed by what Thomson have sorted out with this one, particularly with not liking package hols too much.
So, from the top....
Flight.
Paid for the meals - outgoing breakfast for the kids was better than the adults. On return flight, kids got chicken, potatoes, carrots...no chance of them eating that really Thomson?
Didn't pay for the reserved seats, but seats were reserved for us anyway on the way out & Zante staff got us alltogether on return too.
Hotel.
Paid for 2-roomed fam/4 & got 2 large bedrooms. Double bed + cot in one, 2 singles in the other.
Cot was actually very good, complete with cot bumper & matching mosquito net!
Cleaned every day, linen changed regularly, no problems at all.
There is a fridge in every room, cost us £50 for 2 weeks.
There is also air-con in every room, cost us £80, for 2 units for 2 weeks. Worth budgeting for these. While we were there it was mid-30s in the shade & hit 50c in the sun.
The pool area is generally quite packed (lot of sunbeds close to each other - only just enough) & not the most restful of places with all the kids - but then, you wouldn't expect it to be, being a family hotel.
Pool itself is curved around the snackbar area, 2 shallow ends, deep in the middle.
Toddlers pool is okay but is still half a metre deep.
The kids clubs are excellent. They all seem to enjoy it & the reps do a really good job keeping them occupied - 2 hours a day for each of the 3 age groups.
There's also a fenced off area for the under-3s with an indoor soft playroom (but quite hot in there) and a covered are outside with little tykes equipment.
Food is reasonable, but cocktails are a rip-off. Better going down the road to Iguana where they are half the price and twice the size.
The supermarket next door stocks most toiletries, including pampers stuff. If your baby depends on SMA or similar, take it with you as it isn't stocked. No sun-cream anywhere over factor 30 either.
Kalamaki.
Main road has too much concrete for my liking and it's a bit of a walk to the beach, but is still more relaxed than the bigger resorts.
Beach.
Turn right outside the hotel and keep walking. If you want a slightly better beach, then turn left by the Escape taverna and head for the outcrop with a flag on top.
Food.
Best restaurant is Mermaids without a doubt. great menu & lots of choice.
Food in the Iguana is also ok, DVDs on the big screens keep the kids quiet (had Shrek2, harry potter etc) & the welcome is warm & genuine.
Out & about.
Taxi to Zante town is 8 euros. Go to Solomon Square so that you know roughly where the taxi rank is!
Also went to Olympia. Good trip but overpriced (50 euros) by Thomson. 15 mins to ferry, ferry ticket is 8 euros return & an hour's coach ride the other side. Admission is extra (9 euros), but you do get a good guide. A similar trip was advertised with a local agent for 30 euros.
Doe's anybody know whether there is a launderette in the resort?
Hi All, I phoned the Exotica with regards to ordering a fridge for the room and was told that 'all' the rooms now have fridges in them. You just have to pay for them to be unlocked!
Hi Bing,
The rooms are basic, but comfortable. Mini fridges and kettles can be hired. We always hire a fridge, one year we couldn't have one for a few days and I really missed it. Last year we had a kettle and didnt use it once. There is a ceiling fan but we always take a 12" desktop fan (£12.99 from B&Q's), helps the kids sleep! I personally get by with plenty of booze! You can hire fans from the shop next door though. If you want to hire a fridge its best to ring or fax in advance as they are limited.
Heres their no's
Exotica Tel no. 0030 26950 27740
Fax no. 0030 26950 49054
Look forward to meeting you,
Hi all
We are due to fly out from manchester on the 9 th of August and we were wondering what is actually in the rooms ie. kettle.
If you have to hire where are best places to do this.
Thanks in advance. Bing.
I have just spoke to a friend who stayed in Kalamaki in June. She said that everyone was complaining about the hire cost of the kettles and fridges at the Exotica, but she didn't stay there herself. Doe's anyone know what they charge? Is she just 'over dramatising'? It wouldn't be impossible as she isn't known for her generous nature!!!!!!!
Hi used to have EMail address for the Hotel Exotica does anyone have it? janine95u@hotmail.com
Fab Hotel, Wonderful staff who actually care about you!! Breakfast cant get enough of!! Great location and beach!! Coming back to see you all on 6th August for two weeks!! Special hello to Seve Janine and Denise and all you other wonderful staff!!
We like the Dias and Escape also. Our kids enjoyed the Saterday Night Live show, which is proformed by all the reps on the island. We arrive for our third year on the 30th July. We cant wait to see everybody then
Alan,
My favourate resturants are Paolo's, Escape, Stanis, Tesoro's Mikaelos,Dias, I'll give up there as the list goes on. The only one Ive always avoided is the one on the corner just up from the hotel,(cant even remember what its called). I'm sure you wont find anywhere that isnt child friendly. Paolo's have a small area with swings etc to keep kids entertained, in fact the staff entertain quite well themselves.
Ive been returning to the Exotica for quite a few years now and we have only been on one trip which was to see the turtles, that was the first year. The trips can be quite long days especially with young kids.
We have instead just got a taxi to the beach at Lagana and jumped on a 1hr trip around the bay, a lot cheaper!
Your Kids will love the hotel and the kids reps, you might struggle dragging them away.
If you are going for 2 weeks we might meet you as we are arriving on Friday the 6th Aug.
Have a great holiday.
Myself, wifey (Jan) and two sprogs (Katie & Michael- 6 & 2) going on 26th July. Hope it's as good as everybody says. Any advice on the best family orientated restaurants/cafes/bars. Any excursion worth having a look at. Sounds wonderful. Can't wait!
Steve,
"A donkey from the airport", I wouldnt put it past them. Mind you it will be cheaper than a Taxi. I hear Nickos has moved on and is now engaged and working in Athens, I think his mate George has taken on his job. Both Denise and Zoe are still there for me to annoy though.
Well only 4 weeks to go, Cant wait.
Well done Greece, hope the party is still rocking when we arrive
in August, get your pitch ready, clean your boots, sort your team,
game on. See you soon Barry, hope alls well, ive heard youve got
to ride the Donkey from the Airport this year, HA, HA
Have just been with my husband and 2 year old. We will be returning, could not fault the hotel at all, clean, tidy, reps and staff all very helpful. The breakfast you get has plenty for everyone. A very laid back and enjoyable holiday, just wish i was still there.
am goin in july n cant wait!!
apparently ive heard its good hear bu head to the costa's bar for a good nite!! what do u all think??
THE ENGLISH CIGS WERE 2EURO 70 FOR A PACK OF 20.I WAS SMOKING GREEK CIGS AFTER TRYING A FEW FOUND A COUPLE OF THEM OK.THE CHEAPEST WAS LEADER 1EURO A PACK OF 20 ALSO PRESIDENT 2EURO 60 FOR A PACK OF 30 CIGS.I WAS IN KALAMAKI THE BEGINING OF MAY NEXT TO THE EXOTICA.THE BEST EXCHANGE RATE WAS IN THE SUPERMARKET NEXT TO THE EXOTICA.THE OTHER PLACES HAD 1.42EURO OR LESS THAT SUPERMARKET HAD 1.43.HOPE THIS HELPS JAN.

Neil, Exotica Tel no. 0030 26950 27740

I was wondering if anyone knows how much the cigs are over there?
Hi Neil Phillips, I am going in August too hope this will help you Http://freespace.virgin.net/zante.island/kalamaki_hotels.htm it was given to me on here. I am going 16/08/04 what date are you there?
What a fantastic holiday we have just had at the Exotica.Kids really well looked after with entertainment. They loved it!Hotel and grounds were very clean.Everyone works really hard here and it shows! Anyone going here for the first time will not be disappointed. And as for Joff the entertainment rep....well i wont spoil it for you...but he's first class!! Please try and join in with the fun and games ,even if you don't really want to,cos i promise you it will make your hoilday. For any of you who were there the last 2 weeks ,i was the one who got spun round that blokes head on the greek night!!! Not funny after sambuka!!! Cant wait to go back.
Steve, Tim, hopefully Les, not long to go.
Anybody thats been, is Nickos and Denise still behind the bar and if so any body visiting the Exotica can they remind them I'm on the way back in August. Cheers.
Booked for August 2004. Would like to Know Fax No of Hotel including Dialing code from UK so i can hire a fridge.Has anyone stayed recently or staying in next few weeks who can get Tel/fax no for us
Hello everyone dont know if anyone remembers me i worked at the hotel in 2002 as a kids rep for thomson ( i was the scottish red headed one)! Just wanted to say a quick hello and that i will be coming over to zante in september and will pop in for a visit!! Hopefully will catch up with all the staff then! Linda :0)
Hi all. Going to Hotel Exotica with wife and two children (7yrs and 21mths) in July 2004. Really looking forward to being back in Greece after two years in the Algarve.
Can anyone recommend any bars or restaurants that are particularly child friendly?
Hi!
We are returning on 12th July 2004 to our "2nd home" The Exotica in Kalamaki! This will be our 10th year at the Exotica. What can I say you must go there!!!! Kalamaki is a beautiful resort with a long sandy beach, epecially nice first thing in the morning before breakfast! Sea beautiful and child-friendly can walk out about 100 metres out! Relatively unspoilt compared to other resorts although we have seen kalamaki change a lot over the years. Management and all the staff at Exotica are like our extended family, very friendly and helpful. Rooms spotless and with ceiling fans which is a must in the summer months! Kids club - great offering options of kids club sessions, drop-in sessions and evening entertainment. Safe, U.K Outdoor toys provided in the safety of shade. Kids club situated in full view of pool. My 10 year old loves going to club and really enjoys the entertainment provided day and night. Counting the days, hours and seconds, hi Sevi, Efi, Kostas and jenine if you read this! Caroline, Colin,Daniel and Joseph Barker
Tim, great to hear your returning, not too long too wait now, (got to pay at the end of this month Ouch!) Bad news is not too sure if Les is going to make it this year.
We are flying from Birmingham this time, I think you will manage to get to the bar before me as I think you flights earlier. Mind you that means I'll have a bottle waiting for me!!!
Hi Barrie,
Remember me !! Guess what ? We are also going back the same time as you, and Tony and his family too! Probably see you at Gatwick as we can't go from Luton this year. Are you going to have the palm tree , donkey, big chair etc ? Looking forward to two weeks at the bar and chucking people in the pool. See you there.
Tim
Hi Jan, shame but we are there the same weeks as Steve, so we will be returning on the 16th. Check out this site for tel no's http://freespace.virgin.net/zante.island/kalamaki_hotels.htm
I'm not too sure if a couple of numbers have changed, I will check it out later.
Cheers Barrie
Hi Barrie, I have posted as all excellent cos' by the sound of it, I don't think I will have anything to complain about. Anyway, are you going on the 16th like us? and do you know the fax/telephone no. to order a fridge!!
Hi Jan and Steve,
Sounds like its going to be a busy 2 weeks, better make sure I'm prepared! Steve you had better warn the boys! Jan, your kids will love the Exotica,(Ive an 11yr old daughter) basically they all get together like one big gang, the reps are superb, Oh and theres Kostas!
The "Entertainer" generally changes each year but their always good game (they dont have any choice)
See you all in 6 months
Hi Jan.
Look on site at Escape, Mikaelos (the best) locals use also, ask
at hotel they will direct, Paolo's, Zepo's (great view at about
7.30pm). Road's a bit mad & narrow in place's, no kerbs,
crumbled edges. If you like to be smart, then dress up,
restaurant's are classy enough, decent casual wear is also ok.
We fly back late on the 16th, might catch you at hotel.
Good Luck & enjoy.
Questions for Steve C- We have booked for 16/08/04. Myself, husband and two girls aged 7 & 11.I was wondering if you could recomend somewhere decent to eat and have you got any thoughts on hiring a car? Obviously, by your comments up to now, and the fact that you are going back, you must think a lot of the place. What sort of evening dress do you recomend? We went to Kefalos on Kos at the end of May 2001 and we mainly wore shorts and t-shirts in the evening as there wasn't anywhere 'dressy' to go, not that that is a complaint, I just wouldn't want to pack a case full of stuff that we won't wear. Please reply.Hopefully we will see you in August!
Mark, great place, very friendly, good eating, lots to choose from,
went last August, going again this August. From what I believe
family rooms only approx 4no: overlooking small road to beach
which is front of hotel, not a great view except for mountains. We
had a twin 4 ground floor for myself, wife, 12 & 8yr old boys.
Bunkbeds for boys, smallish room but great location, within the
inner sq of the hotel, looking onto grassed area, pool, pool bar
etc. This type of room is more than adequate for 3 and much
better position. Hope this helps. Steve C
Hi, I have just booked for June 2004 for one week and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the family rooms are like, the brochure and agents aren't much help on that. I have paid quiet a lot extra to have a "2 bedroom family room" as we are taking our 2 year old with us.
We visited in June 2003 for a weekend as we couldn't wait for our main holiday to Australia. It was a late booking so we were plesantly surprised with the value of the hotel, the cleanliness of everything from the room, to the pool, the bar area and the dining room.
We were surprised to find ourselves in hotel mainly catering for families as we tend to go in 'couples' only hotels, which meant that we found ourselves on the beach rather than beside the pool as it was a bit hectic around that area. However, the beach being close enough and pleasant enough this was no hardship and the kids seemed to enjoy themselves enormously with the facilities provided.
We would have had to have air conditioning in the room if we were staying for any longer than a weekend the weather was so hot but superb!
Definitely a place we would return to if we have another free weekend!
Paul.
Turtle spotting a bit of a con, if your lucky you may see one turtle
from a distance in Aug. Smaller boats make it like a cattle
market. Thomsons Turtle Island cruise was good though as it
involved, visiting beaches, caves and lots of info. More
considerate than the smaller money grabbing boats. Also
Thomsons evening tour approx 4.30-9.30 very good, lots of info &
visits, inc a stop to eat at Zakynthos town (sorry cant remember
exact name of trip). Other comments suggest Water park a
waste as many rides are restricted. Make sure you take a Mossi
machine that you plug in and a bite stick. (lots of bitten people in
Aug). Dont take many daytime clothes, we took 'T' Shirts & shorts
for every day, once youve had breakfast people wander about in
swimwear. Airport 5-8mins, the planes are no problem only
about 6 per day, noise is nothing, quite good to watch them fly
over the beach. Beach great very close, 5-10mins easy walk.
Lilos etc very cheap right next door to Hotel approx £6 for a good
one. Loads of great restaurants, approx £30 for a meal for a
family of four (starters, main, water, 0.5ltr of wine, soft drinks and
a beer) Hotel Exotica great, loads of people return, so much so,
we are returning on 6/8/04. Have a good one, need any more info
feel free.
Going to Kalamaki, Hotel Exotica in Aug 2004. Can anyone recomend any excursions or trips out. There is my wife, 10 yr old daughter and myself. Also any recomendations of things to sort out before I go. along time away but high season. Many Thanks...
Nice hotel. Very clean and staff friendly. Special mention for Janine, the English receptionist. We had a few problems with some tours we booked independantly, which she sorted out for us, although not anything to do with the hotel.
Breakfast is a bit repetitive (not baked beans again!), but we are informed by people from other hotels it was good in comparison.
Pool bar food and service is good.
Swimming pool was always clean, but you can only eat/ drink items purchased from the Pool bar. If they catch consuming your own stuff, they will charge you for the use of the sunbed.
Location is ideal for beach (about 10 mins on foot), and easy walking distance of the restaurants/ bars etc.
Rooms have a large ceiling fan, which is just about enough to make the nights bearable.
All in all, a pleasant stay, and would be happy to recommend it to others.
Gemma A, you must have been there whilst we were there
(1/8/03-15/8/03 Luton). My sons Jake & Luke were always
around the pool and joined in the fun hosted by the reps and
Barrie and the gang (water basketball etc). Telephone number
Exotica ++30 26950 27740. The hard working young guys name
was Alex. Like you mention the whole resort was great. Thanks
to all at the Exotica for a great holiday.
does any one know the exact telephone number for the hotel exotica, and the name of the guy who did all the out door jobs(he's about 16/17yrs) if you do could you please let me know
i went to the exotica on the 1st august for just one week! with my mum dad and little 7 yr old brother. i had a wounderful time and thought that all the staff were excellent at there job, especially the people at reception and the guy who did all different jobs, when ever i was there he was always doing something. the pool was always clean as was all the hotel, the rooms were cleaned daily by the maids who always said good morning and were always friendly. my mum and dad didn't like the room that much because there was not much room, but i thought that they were fine, it was only because we had to have 4 beds which took up alot of room. there is no fridge in the room but you can hire one from reception, and you can also hire a safe from there aswell. the room which i was in had a great view from the balcont,m ount skolpes( i don't know if that is how you spell it) was right in front of us and we look right over the pool and the bar, so you could still see what was going on even if you were not down there. kalamaki is an excellent resort because it was quiet but also had some great bars and restaurents, one bar in particular was called down under. it was a cocktail bar with disco's, live music, and student dressed up as a kangaroo?? fire breathing and the drinks were all made (with style) in front of you. it was an excellent bar and the staff are friendly, the kangaroo was hilarious and the drinks were really cheap, an great night out and would even recomend it to a family with toddlers(i saw alot of families with buggies in there) i will deffinatly go back to kalamaki and will go back to the exotica, but with a mate(s) not my mum and dad and lil bro.
Can't fault this hotel. Rooms were cleaned every day exept Sun, they still emptied bins though. The pool was very clean, the bar snacks were very good, the staff were very friendly. It was located near all the restaurant's. You might want to take small fan's to plug in as the ceiling one wasn't enough for us. P.S look out for the chicken around 8.am & 8.pm
Can anybody tell me if the rooms have cooking
facilities/utensils available -Thanks
Anne, to make sure you get a fridge it is best to fax the Exotica before you go. Otherwise it could be a couple of days before one is available.
Might see you there were going on the 1st Aug.
We are going to the Hotel Exotica in August. Can anyone tell me if there are enough fridges to hire on arrival in peak season, or should we pre-book before we go.
We have just come back from a lovely hols. The hotel and pool area are kept immaculate,& all the staff are very friendly. Had to hire a kettle, no fridge in room either, but didn't hire as would have cost us £50.00 for 2 weeks, which we thought was too dear. The kids reps are great, but we felt that there could have been more going on for adults. Water Basketball every day can get abit boring. People who had been to 'Superfamiles' elsewhere confirmed that there was alot more entertainment/games at other resorts. However,I would still definately recommend hols here if you are looking for something relaxing/child friendly. By the way, the sad idiot who complained loudly to the reps about people at the Exoctica bar enjoying themselves past 10pm, (you know who you are) get a life, and next year book yourself onto an old peoples' coach holiday.
Stayed for 2 weeks from 9/June/2003. Hotel very clean, including rooms - which are of adequate size for a family of 4. Fridges are available, just ask at reception and they are 5 euros a day - we didnt pre-book and got one delivered the next morning(This was essential as the weather was over 40 degrees every day for the first week.) Reception staff are excellent, very friendly, as well as bar staff. Drinks at the bar are expensive so the fridge comes in handy for the beers from the supermarket which are much cheaper. We had 2 kids under 4 and it was impossible getting them to sleep as evening entertainment (if you could call it that!) was deafening - our room was by the pool, and it didnt finish till 12 oclock. Plus dont get excited about Superfamily status, as kids club was the worst Ive experienced, and this was my third superfamily. Overall however excellent hotel if you're not bothered about kids clubs.
We holidayed here in May 2000. The childrens reps were brilliant the location was fine. The Exotica is child/family friendly. It is small but wonderful. If you have kids and your idea of a good holiday is the kids enjoying themseves, this is the place for you. It's not noisy, crazy lets whip the kids into a fever pitch type of holiday. It is a gentle quiet bucket load of fun that entertains and occupies the kids whilst having fun and enjoying their holiday.
My one criticsm is the main pool was deep for kids. (They do have a paddling pool)
The beach was quiet, clean but hot! We swam with the turtles everyday an experience never to be forgotten.
In fact we are returning on Sept 1st 2003!!!!!
Im staying at the Hotel Exotica (Kalamaki)in a few weeks time for two weeks and i was wondering if anybody could tell me if you need to pre-book a fridge and how much they cost
Went on a last minute 19th to 26th May 2003. Excellant hotel, excellant resort, excellant reps. Plane noise is fine. Great fun watching take offs and landings. No noise at night after midnight. Safe deposit boxes available 10 euros for a week. Hotel cashes euro travellers cheques at 49 euros for 50 euro cheque. Better value at off licence down road. There is one cash machine in main street, brand new one that appears to take everything. We have no kids but it was great for us. Only 70 or so rooms but a total of 8 Thomson staff for the one hotel. Wonderful friendly service from them and hotel staff. Try the pizza at Spaggetomania, best ever and you can watch them cooking including spinning the pizza base. I WANNA GO BACK NOW!
Going to Exotica 9/6/03 - are there safety deposit boxes available? what are 3rd and 4th beds like as taking 2 and 4 year old?(worried they are bunkbeds) Any suggestions for encashing travellers cheques in resort - (sterling or euro best?) or are there any cash machines for maestro cards? Thanks for any help.
Spent one week 19/5 to 26/5/03, this was a late booking for four adults, the holiday was excellent but Hotel complex is more suited to families. All staff very friendly and complex clean. Nearby beach very good, plenty of restuarants and bars to choose from, never had a bad meal, try Heras which is on the left hand side of the main road heading out towards Lagana, good food and very friendly staff.
we went in may 2003 great hotel, reps fantastic, breakfast terrific,
if you have young children this is the place for you. The kids club keeps them busy and they have a great time, while you can relax for a couple of hours by the pool. Rooms quite big enough, and clean, you can hire frdges if you need them.Plenty of restaurants and bars close by, and it is only a 12 minute walk to the beach. The entertainment in the evening is for all the family. liked it so muchwe have already booked for 2004.
Going to the hotel Exotica on 30th May 2003. Just wondering do they hire is there fridges in the room or do we need to hire one? If this is the case how much do they cost?
We are going to Exotica 23/6/03 for 2 weeks with two girls aged 3 and 6. Would welcome any tips on trips, resteraunts ect.
booked the exotica 19-30 may 2003 2 kids and the wife of course-any tips , not been before
stayed there for 1 week end of august- last minute booking for my husbands 40th birthday- had a excellent time- even though had no kids with us- if the THOMPSONS REPS read this page, 1 of the best team of reps I`ve seen for a long time - especially if u have kids- overall definitely would go back-loved ZANTE.......
My boyfriend and I visited the Hotel Exotica in October 2002 and had a good time we spent most of our time on the beach but the staff at the Hotel spoke good english and were always happy to help. The childrens entertainers were always encouraging the children to join in activities, even when the weather was bad!! We enjoyed the holiday and the breakfasts were great lots of kids favourites.
hi to all the fantastic reps. you ensured we had a fantastic holiday, especially christina and alison. we were an 18 and 24 year old staying in a family hotel, however, had a fantastic time, all needs were catered for - they left our key out on the reception desk at 7 o'clock in the morning!! saturday night live is well recommended. love you all, will definately be back next year for 2 wks this time, a week was just not long enough! x
Julie Lawton, I have just returned from Exotica (9th August) there are no cooking facilities at all in the rooms. You can hire a fridge from reception, i am sure you will be able to get a bottle warmer as it is a family based hotel. It was good fun and the restaurants are great with the kids. Ch
We are going to the Hotel Exotica in September, myself, husband and 1 year old daughter. We have pre-booked a cot. Does anyone know what standard they are? Also, is there a kettle in the room to warm a bottle and can you hire a fridge?
Off to Exotica in 6 weeks, been before so know it's fantastic, has anyone been recently and used the new Euro Travellers Cheques? If so does the Exotica Hotel change these type of cheques?
kids loved this hotel. made our life easy as plenty to keep the children busy.
Helen - Dont know the exact location of your suite, but the whole hotel is just for families, so i cant imagine it being very noisy after midnight when by law the music has to be down very low (30db).
I am going to exotica in June with my family. We have booked a family suite but have just read on another web site that these rooms are above the bar and very noisy. Help! is this true? Is the hotel noisy on an evening?
I didn't stay in this hotel, but i did meet some friends over there and they showed me around. The pool is huge and is very impressive, the reception and the diner is great and the staff are OK too. The rooms are very spacey and are lovely and clean. I stayed at Caretta Beach and that was disgrasful Out it this way, the friends i met at exotica said to me they want a swim in our puddle before they go home, thats how small caretta's pool is.
Just returned from Kalamaki and stayed at Dennys Inn Hotel just around the corner. No building work going on near your hotel. Looked like there was loads to do for the family.
Has anybody stayed here in 2002-any building work going on nearby as we're going the end of May
FANTASTIC TWO WEEKS. KIDS LOVED THE KIDS CLUB. MADE LOTS OF FRIENDS.NOT TOO BIG A COMPLEX ,WHICH WE LIKED, AS EVERYONE GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER. ONLY ONE COMPLAINT (BUT ITS THE SAME OLD PROMBLEM EVERY YEAR WHERE EVER YOU GO IN THE WORLD) NOT ENOUGH SUNBEDS! PEOPLE WERE GETTING UP AT 6AM TO PUT THERE TOWELS OUT! SAD OR WHAT!
When we went last year there were other guests who were on their sixth or seventh visit. We stayed there in July 2000 & booked to go back in August this year the day we got back. So did friends we made out there! Small hotel - say 70 rooms - but that's what we want. Breakfast is typically Greek - the kids aren't that keen - this year we're taking our own cereals for them. No evening meals in package but there are plenty of bars/restaurants around which are all reasonable & most cater for kids. V close to airport - you can read the call signs as the planes come into land - but not really a problem as there are no night flights. It's about 10 minute walk (with 4 year old) to the beach. We just hope that this year is as good as last year!
ANYTHING ABOUT HOTEL EXOTICA KALAMAKI
I think this is in the Thomson 'superfamily' brochure and therefore has everything under the sun for young children, and a team of reps to back it all up.
please let me know what sort of facilities you have for children, how far the beach is from the hotel, and what are evening meals like. Could you tell me if you do continental breakfast too. Thankyou bev moriarty
GREAT! would reccomend it to anyone....lovely hotel, great pool, and lovely staff.
