Lovely resort great to visit in May - dont tell anybody. Staff in Hotel really great and helpful. Stay in the apartments they are very clean. If you want a nice small homely hotel you could not ask for better.
YOU SHOULD ALL BE LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO GO ON HOLIDAY WITHOUT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ACCOMADITION!YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!HAD A BRILLIANT TIME AT THE LOCANDA.HOPE TO RETURN SOON!SORRY ABOUT THE BROKEN SUNLOUNGER,ITS NOT MY FAULT IM SO BIG!
I stayed in the Locanda apartments! They were really good. Fridge, cooker, air conditioning on request and safety deposit box. Its right on the beach, and its never too packed!!! Pool, bar and shop all incuded. We had an appartment on the ground floor, it couldn't have been any better. The bar is really cool too. Theres usually a band there a few times during the week. Every cocktail you'd imagine!Andreas, costa and Theo(the staff) are sound. Very Couplely place if your single though. But most of argassi was like that. The good news is that Laganas, where the real fun is, is only 10 mins in a taxi. The hotel will call one for you!Have fun it will be the best holiday ever!
hi
my friend and i are due to stay at the locunda in may '04 so far it seems that everybody who has stayed and posted comments only stayed at the hotel part i wonder if anyone has any comments about the apartments.
Myself and my girlfriend just back from 2 weeks here and this is what we thought of it.
Good points.
- Its close to all the nightlife/amenities so if your happy to stay in Argassi no need for taxis.
- The bar in the Hotel is good, we always ended up there at the end of the night .
- All the hotel staff are friendly.
- The beach at the end of the garden is nice.
Bad points.
- The hotel is on the main road, so bring your ear plugs.
- Our room was very, very small and basic. The bed was tiny i'm 5ft 10" and my feet were nearly over the end.
- Absolutely no self catering facilities in the room whatsoever, there was only one drinking glass in the room for 2 people when we got there. If even there was a jug kettle and cups in the room it would have made a big difference.
- Breakfast in the morning is very basic, if you like boiled eggs, diluted orange, rolls, stale dodgy tasting cornflakes then you'll be alright otherwise give it a miss.
- Free sun loungers around the pool very scarce and rickety. I think they prefer people to use the ones on the beach which were €6 for the day for 2.
BTW Do not refer students to Donna Carol at Bank of America as she is no longer a point of contact.
BTW the Germans don't have the monoply on hogging the sun loungers, going home one morning about 7am and met some sad gits heading for the pool to put there beach towels on the loungers and they were all English.
Overall it was ok but wouldn't go back to stay in the hotel again. There are apartments that are part of the hotel that looked better. Newly built and are back from the road so should be alot quieter.
i agree, the rooms are basic but then you expect that from a bed and breakfast hotel, but they are really clean and alot bigger then your average B&B rooms. but think of it thiss way, all you need the room for is to sleep and shower, you cannot complain about any thing else as the atmosphere was the best, the bar staff are very entertaining! at of the three hotels we've been to in Aragassi. this was the best by far.
We had a wonderful two weeks at the Locanda. The staff are very nice and really the hotel seems to be about the best in Argassi. A short walk to all restaurants and bars and directly adjacent to clean beach and pool. Rooms are basic, however that is to be expected for all similar level hotels. The resort is clean and the people we encountered were a good mix. There was generally a good vibe around the place. Some rooms front onto the road, which can get noisy. However watch out for EXORBITANT prices in Zante. We spent more than double what we had set aside.
What a place, what a week! Definitely the place to go to in Zakynthos. Staff couldn't do more for you, great cocktails, champagne, relaxing beers by the pool.... Theo, Andreas, "Andreas" (Gencai) all made it a truly memorable holiday. Good mix of guest staying there, always something going on in the evenings....although some of the Quiz questions slightly suspect! Looking forward to going back soon.

Ijust wanted to add my comments to the list (as we women do) I The hotel was truly great as my hubby has already said , but I dont think it would have been half as good if it werent for the staff as in Theo, Andreas, George, Peppa, Lilliana ETC I have to say they are so nice and friendly . We even came back speaking some Greek because they took the time to help us if we needed it, all above the call of duty. I would like to say a big thankyou to all of them for our family holiday something special, I am sure we will be going back ASAP. Les & Stu Preston.
We have just returned from a family holiday at the Locanda,we had an excellent time mainly thanks to Theo,Andreas and crew. The evening entertainment was truly brilliant, something going on very night!!Ideal place if you dont want walk far to the beach, shop etc.Reasonably priced food at the pool snack bar and good,no fuss, simple food.Well priced bar with excellent cocktails,no brandy left as my wife drunk it all!Peppa and all the other hotel staff very helpful. Two excellent bands to see....ANDYS TUNE & BOMBA BLUE,hope to see them both again next year.Do YOU LIKE QUIZES?Quiz night twice a week!Plenty going on at other hotels close at hand which you can visit and nobody minds.
My boyfriend and I have just returned from two weeks at the Locanda and had a wonderful time. The facilities were good especially the pool and pool side snack bar and the prices very reasonable. The hotel was the perfect distance from the centre of the town (approx. 5 min walk) which meant that you were not opposite a noisy club! We were top floor so heard no noise however, heard that it was a bit noisy if you had a room above bar...as you would expect. During our stay it was mainly couples and the staff (theo, andreas and especially Mikey) made it a great holiday. Would recommend the 'Locanda Punch' or 'Theo's Cocktail' for any vodka lovers! Hope you have a great holiday and enjoy it as much as we did!
The Locanda was a perfect location just 5 minutes away from all the bars but providing peace and quiet if you wanted it. The bar staff made you feel very welcome, and Theo was a master of cocktails - we found the bar prices reasonable. There is usually a good crowd of people there, mixture of English and Irish (hello to Paul, Caroline, Chris, Susan, Bob and Ali - hope you continued to provide the entertainment). We would recommend the Locanda mainly for couples, looking for a small quiet base for their holiday
Hi to u all in Zakynthos. Had a fab time in 2000, hi to Theo, top bloke!!!!!!! Hope to go back some day to have more good times. My room was just above the bar so a bit noisy but I knew that I could always go downstairs for a drink and a good chat with some tourists. Oh yeah there were a few old people there when i was staying - the drunk gannys were always good for a laugh!!!!! email me on: charlenechp@aol.com with all your memories. X Charlene X
i've got to disagree with the view of the lady below me and my boyfriend have just returned from the Locanda 14-7-02 and we found it to be excellent and very good value for money we are what you call typical loud english people but we met up with a lot of irish people who enjoyed our company and made our holiday one we will never forget not all english people are the same so dont tar us all with the same brush. if your'e irish and enjoy fun you'll love it but there are boring people from every country
If you are Irish and not to fond of having to spend your holiday with loud british who are not to fond of the Irish please dont waste your time and money going. I have recently returned from there and was not to keen on the resort or the hotel. Everything was far to over priced for a greek resort and the tours that are offered by the holiday reps in Budget Travel are a rip off. And again full on loud english. As for the hotel we had a room beside the main road and it was impossible to get any sleep, the bar was the biggest joke with the prices for the quaility drink. And that bar man who runs the pool snack bar what a creep! IF YOU ARE IRISH DO NOT VISIT THIS ISLAND, I am only trying to save you the trouble.
You will not be dissapointed with the Locanda. Small, friendly staff and located just far enough away from the main hub of the town to be away from the noise if you want some quiet. Good pool, right on the beach. Argassi's beaches are not the best but the Locanda has what is probably the best. (This isn't saying much though but it's enough.) Pool bar is open from around 9-5, main bar (also outside) 5 till when you finally crawl out of there. The two bar guys Andreas and Spiros are great guys and really make everyone feel at home very quickly. Say Hi to Andreas from Mike & Tracy (the Canadian redhead who badly sprained her ankle.) Also Pepi, the front desk manager, is a lovely women and always has a ready smile for everyone. Breakfasts are of the typical continental type from 8-10 though we only ate there on the two days that we were up early to go on excursions. The Germans seem to like it but most Brits seem to head out for something more substantial. Can't praise the hotel highgly enough. we loved it so much we're going back for 2 weeks next year. And look out for Staffy, the hotel dog normally found socialising around the pool area.
By the way my email adress is Emma.slee@newham.ac.uk thanks
Me and my boyfriend are flying out on the 30th of June for 2 weeks and staying in the Locanda hotel if any one has any pictures or further information that they think would be useful please email it to me thanks
Brilliant me and my husband went for one week in May 2000. Staff were friendly the hotel was clean and comfortable. The pool was nice and there was a relaxed atmosphere and a good view of the beach.
Good location next to the narrow sandy beach. Nice relaxed atmosphere and all the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were OK but the beds were a bit basic (a cheap matress with loose wooden slats underneath). Lot of traffic noise until the early hours so windows had to be kept shut at night. Good value though, but take some earplugs!
We went there in June this year and had a great time. It's in a perfect location and all the staff are brillant, the rooms are really pretty with lovely antique furniture and you are right on the beach. Can't wait to go back!!
we stayed during october '99 and had a brilliant time, we hope to return very soon.
Hello Theo,Andreas,Mal,Lilliana and Rachael. Thank you for making our stay the best holiday ever.If you want to find a very friendly place to enjoy a pool, snacks and booze look no further!!!They make the best bacon+egg rolls on the island.Mal (Shirley Valentine) is great fun she loves to have a chat and loves taking photo's. THANKS LOADS STEVEN+DIANE , MATT+LAURA....
We stopped at the solomos apartments, but many people do not know that you have use of the locanda facilities. IT has an excellent pool, with an excellent poolside open bar, serving really good food, and the lady is english who serves. The greek guys who own the locanda bar serve the best cocktails and drinks in argassi. This place is really recommended, and we will be telling everybody about it. Liked by young and old alike, this is ideal for couples and is seen as the excellent start and finish to a night out along the argassi strip. Look out for Theo, Andreas, and Mal, they make the place excellent!
